    Yonder

Great ending. And I'm happy my prediction was wrong and I didn't have to wait till the next story for the resolution of theLee ❤️ Avery relationship. Such a sweet dessert 🎂 after a heavy (& delicious) meal.

    Chapter 20

Don't horses need to exercise more than once a week?

    Joining 'C' Wing

As D'gar was learning the names of his wing mates and their dragons, most of those names were also new to me. So they were no longer part of the wing in "Gone Away, Gone Ahead." We knew S'Brin and Semianth has died. So most of the riders and dragons D'gar just met had also died by the end of the Eighth Pass. It's sad when and individual rider or dragon dies in your stories. What this chapter, in which no one dies, subtly shows is the long-term impact of the danger of flying thread.
  4. Ooh boy! A new player enters the scene.
  5. Me, too. A number of people I do volunteer work with use Google docs. It's just enough different from MS Office to be quite frustrating.
  6. I and another bookkeeper friend has the same experience.
  7. But with some women that darling is going to earn him a verbal, or maybe physical, slap down.
  8. I also use Excel. It's a great spreadsheet program. MicroSoft keeps adding features and making other changes -- after my initial grumbles of "it works fine, why can't they leave it alone," it's becomes a fun game to figure out how to maneuver in the updated version. Part of keeping my mind agile.
  9. Holy Hordes of Humans! 400 characters!!! I bet keeping track of them is part of what keeps your aging brain so active. (Being older than you, I can say that about your brain without being called ageist.) Remember when you were a young whippersnapper and would've had to keep the list by hand on lined paper?!?! (Good think you're not in Texas this week...no power=no computer.)
  10. Oh, yes, don't kill off Edrice. He's a hoot.

    Over

A sweet chapter. However, emotions are still roiling. My guess is that it won't be until the next installment in the Camp Refuge series before we find out if and how Lee & Avery's relationship develops. Please don't make us wait long for that next story, Wayne.
  12. Or you could strangle someone with it.
  13. You could kill Bruce Donovan from a drug overdose. That would be fitting.
  14. Redshirts on Star Trek also never had a name; this was one of the giveaways. The consequence of not having a name in Star Trek was one of the many funny parts in Galaxy Quest, a hilarious movie lovingly satirizing Star Trek -- highly recommended to those of you who've not seen it.
  15. Rereading this chapter, I was struck how by different Ritch's love life, as described in the past couple of chapters, is from how his older brother's was. By the time CJ was entering his junior year of college, he was already settled down with Ozzie.

    Chapter 7

A fun couple of chapters. I was wondering how he was going to pay for all the work he ordered on a college professor's salary, whether his family was rich. It was as if you were reading my mind because the next sentence reminded us about the money in the safe. What with @chris191090's crystal ball and your mindreading, there's quite a bit of paranormal activity going on.

    Chapter 5

    Another enjoyable chapter.

    Chapter 4

The story is building slowly and steadily, which is very comforting. Especially as the chapters are coming frequently. Four horses will be cost in time and money to to feed and take care of, just to use for only the holidays. I hope he finds other things for them to do. What period of history does he teach?

    Lost Chances

You definitely got it right. I went through a bunch of tissues.
  20. It's also a nice break for your loyal readers, a well-written story about un-broken people.

    Chapter 3

Lovely chapter. But you're mean, taking your time revealing the house's secrets. What else is in the safe?
  22. Well written start to the story. I'm eager to see how it progresses ... particularly the categories for the story description indicates there will be magic and mages. I sure hope that there's more magic and mages than the including of Dumbledore's office in the spaceship. 😁
  23. It's amazing that in only one short chapter, you conveyed Tony's goodness, sweetness, intelligence and grounded-ness (down-to-earth-ness). I'm really looking forward to the rest of this story. I wonder if Tony learns about his royal background from what he finds in the safe.

    Prologue

And if in 1801, Napoleon became the Emperor of Italy.

    Prologue

Interesting start to the story. But I don't think the history is accurate. As I understand it, at that time, there was a Kingdom of Italy, part of the Holy Roman Empire. However, that included only northern Italy and there were separate imperial fiefs (dukes, princes) in each of the individual city-states of northern Italy, rather than a single King. Also, I'm not sure Americans shortly after the Revolution were friendly towards European royalty. I'm not a historian, maybe someone else could provide a more accurate information.
