As I remember that was a multiple cliffhanger not addressed till the next book. Helicopter crash, freeway car crash with children in the car, and the teenaged protagonist being arrested simultaneously. I don't think any other author has beat that -- yet.

This was a fun chapter. Both the melodrama and the silliness were high. I can't hardly wait to hear what Bellona says to JJ when Will & Travis walk down the runway. And what JJ says to make it seem like his idea. I hope you keep Zach around. He fits right in with the hormone-driven craziness and asshole-ness of young men, both in general and in this story. (Not just the young men; most of your people, especially the men, have been uber-assholes at one time or another during the CAP epic. And probably most of us readers as well.) I never realized how much of a cheapskate I am; I've never tipped my barber $1,000.

Wow! What a sweet, simple, satisfying ending to the story. A HEA where all the pieces fit and were consistent with who Jase/Michael had been throughout the story. And even Jase's now ex got closure and relief, and had a good life with someone he loved, a very nice touch. Thank you, thank you. I'm going to check out your other stories when I get a chance, and I look forward to future stories from you.

Great chapter. By choosing to not get his past life back, the result is Jase gets his past life back. But no matter which way he chose, he wouldn't have Lucas. You are so mean, Libby -- one chapter left for you to redeem yourself with more twists and a HEA ending.

I'm pretty sure you did set Canada in late summer. It's Christmas sailing from the UK that in mid-winter.

Sweet ending. What an adventure it would be sailing a tall ship in the North Atlantic in mid-winter. Bad storms, high waves, and ice on the sails can be really dangerous. Zac and friends get into enough danger without going that extreme. I checked a few sailing charter websites, and they're all Portugal or further south by Christmas time.

You're plotting is delicious. Just when the story seems to going one way, bang, a new complication. The mastery is they always fit in the story, not haphazardly thrown in as some authors and movies do.

Yes, it's the Sheriff/Detective as I thought. How is he hiding Macy from Jase's spidey sense? He's playing a subtle, complex game. He could have taken Macy at any time and planed a reason in her parents' minds. Why did wait, force the parents into squatting, insinuate himself into the family, and then kill the parents? How did Macy get away from him and run into the bayou? Another conundrum: is it just a coincidence that someone using the power for good, someone using the power for evil, and someone immune to the power come together focused on Macy? Not likely. Things are stirring up as the finale approaches.

Thanks. I reread that Everhope chapter. Great excitement and conversation and comradery from throwing together an varied mix of young people. I look forward to the future dinner parties your planning.

Extra 4 - The Empire's Three Days of Thanksgiving Part 2
frosenblum commented on lilansui's story chapter in Extra 4 - The Empire's Three Days of Thanksgiving Part 2
The Prologue to The Reluctant Prince began with a sword at Jihan's throat and ended with Kastan sentencing Jihan to death. How delightful to see all the story's main characters having such loving fun. -
I've seen lion fish at the California of Science Aquarium in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. They are beautiful. I had know idea how bad an invasive species they are in the Atlantic coast.

But apparently Ritch will not play a part in the Abello administration, according to Hail to the Chief. BTW, thank you, thank you, thank you for letting us know that Ron DeSantis will lose when he runs for President! CJ will be be the first Floridian elected President. 🙂 I loved being reminded how CJ will feel in 2041: "After all their years together, Owen still took his away. "
-
Yeah, those budgies are hard to keep from slipping through. 😊

Invasive species -- humans?
-
Can't you just steal, er, quote from CJ's published books and articles and broadcast interviews?

Ditto to the many comments on how great this chapter and the the whole story are. Although the focus of the stories and the nature of their relationships are very different, how many famous and/or powerful people CJ runs into reminds me a little of Will in Mark Arbor's Gap Year. Very different men, with way different morality, both running into celebrities wherever they go.

Quality over speed, please.

J.Lo can get them tickets

Carlos, in a comment you made several stories ago, you said CJ & Ozzie were going to have regular small dinner parties at Everhope that brought together disparate, interesting people for wide-ranging conversation. Are any of those on your writing agenda? I'm not making a request; I know you have enough in the works already to keep you busy for years. I'm just curious. I can picture the Obama's, Harley & wife, the football couple, Rod & Taisha, and CJ & Owen sitting around the table, with Liebe kissing each of them goodnight. But my imagination fails to come with any dialogue. My forte is reading stories, not creating them. I'm grateful that you provide that service for me, Carlos.

"The Breakers, built between 1893 and 1895 as a summer residence for Cornelius Vanderbilt II, was a seventy-room Renaissance Revival mansion." Every room is probably larger than the studio apartment I live in. Seventy rooms, especially just for a summer residence, seems quite extravagant to me. Turns out it's merely scratching at extravagance. Biltmore Estate, the summer house of one of Cornelius's grandsons, George -- which George called his "little mountain escape" -- has 250 rooms.

In Chapter 2: "Owen vetoed his initial plan to wear a pair of ratty, old cutoffs, and CJ acquiesced to his husband’s request. Whatever made Owen happy worked for him." But in Chapter 4: “He’s a grown man.” Owen sounded resigned to living with CJ’s antics. “He can wear whatever he wants.” Donut pants vs ratty, old cutoffs. Hmmm, either there's a limit to CJ's "whatever makes Owen happy" or a limit to Owen's laissez faire dress code ethic.

Yes, it's Macy.

More twists and turns. More bread crumbs leading nowhere. You are a sneaky one, Libby. It's a hard-to-put-down story.

Isn't there also going to be some diving for sunken Spanish treasure.
