  1. Small town in the hills of West Virginia
  2. @ReaderPaul I also grew up in a valley and the only way to get TV was to get cable, where we got 3 channels. We thought we had arrived when we got our first TV when I was 7 years old. @Lee Wilson, you would have been the envy of our whole city with that many channels! You must have lived in the "big city"...
  3. Whether the new Kathy Bates’ version of Matlock or a Perry Mason moment, this style of courtroom drama is always exciting. Another good chapter!

    T*ts up

Just a reinforcement of my initial comment in Chapter 1: Damian (and Ludo, it appears) were nothing more than charms on her bracelet! I do believe @Cane23 is on to something in using them as a cover for a vacation... Great writing continues, @Robert Hugill!

    The Learning

Just wondering -- are the colors and their significance invented by you, @Lee Wilson, or supplied by research? My friend who saw auras said that bright blue indicated a person at peace and happy in life.
  6. The banter between @Summerabbacat and @Cane23 have been delightful! I hope Norman doesn't actually consider about solving the problem "terminally"! Ralph's parents are, unfortunately, very typical of people in their social circles - and those attitudes are still very much alive today. Go Ralph and Nolan! Perhaps the girls will end up living with them and only occasionally visit Therese!
  7. Dexter is indeed psychotic! I am looking forward to his exposure and the justice which follows!
  8. As a resident of Orlando, FL, I would say you certainly did your homework on the theme parks! Thank you, @Lee Wilson for this follow-up to The Boy on the Porch. As is always the case with a good story, I will miss these characters as they have become "real" for me.
  9. Damien feels comfortable in asking direct questions because he has received direct answers from his father and, apparently, his mother. He is curious, but has also learned discretion from his father - he "asked" permission non-verbally and received a nod to ask Gordy the question burning on his mind. Once answered, off he went to pursue his major interest - plants! Ludo is getting more comfortable with himself which builds his confidence. Very enjoyable chapter!

    Interlude

    Good start to the continuation!

    The Beginning

When I was quite young, my mother's godmother had this ability and could look at someone and know if they were close to death. I worked with a young woman in my first full-time teaching job that saw auras. This, this story resonates with and fascinates me! I like the start. Of course, i like that Avery is behaving like a very normal 12/13 year old entrepreneur/"gambler".
  12. The "argument" between Therese and Ralph was actually quite cordial! Just enough edge to it to allow Ralph to not be bested by Therese's remarks! The picnic was perfect - it has set up a comfortable relationship for the new "family" dynamic at Ralph's place. Another wonderful chapter, @Robert Hugill.
  13. Dexter is one sick and poor excuse for a human being! I do hope he gets caught before any more harm can come to others, but then, that wouldn't make the story interesting, would it?!!
  14. Not a pleasant read on a Sunday morning, but it fills out the back story very well. We do see how deranged the Tafts were! Kathy's final days, while there was light surrounding her, was similar to the burial hole in which she placed Joey's body. Abel is certifiably amoral and a true psychotic! Unfortunately dying by a gunshot rather than beaten to death by a shovel!
  15. I really like the directness of Damian and the fact that he and Ludo can speak so openly. Damian is certainly advanced for his age, curious yet discreet! Another wonderful chapter, @Robert Hugill!!
  16. They both have questions that need answered. Hope they can work together to get those answers and deal with the evil facing them!
  17. I'm not surprised about Abel's price for helping Brendan with a ride: he has no redeeming morals anyhow! I'm just glad that Brendan was able to throw him out! And Kathy's self-satisfaction apparently was all it took to soothe her umbrance at Abel. Wow!

    Well, Well, Well

An anthropomorphic well! Very well done! After all, we ascribe human emotions to just about everything else, why not a well? But to have one that has us laughing and brightening our day is absolutely welcome!
  19. Ralph's coming into his own is a fascinating journey, to be sure! I'm glad to know that I share that process along with @Cane23 as well as may others! I can remember buying my first "bright" shirt! I'm still drawn to the more somber colors (like a comfortable shoe, lol!), but breaking that mold is fun! I do love the growing comfort level with Nolan! The next party will be quite exciting! Continued great work, @Robert Hugill!!
  20. I sometimes wonder if it is our own self that is in the way more times than naught. Wonderful poem!

    September Sun

Wistfully saying "Thank you and See you again" to the fading sunlight but strong hope in the future return. Beautifully done!
  22. The background is now set with the Taft family. They are both ignorant (truly don't know how to properly be in a relationship as well as how to parent) and stupid (choosing to stay in ignorance!). Now to see how Brendan moves on at this point. So well written!
  23. What a gift to have a friend like Lesley! While it had been a long time since they last communicated, they just picked up as though there were no separation of time! She may well encourage Ludo to finally face Jackie and move on (at least I hope so!!).
  24. With Therese saying : You should try it. With Nolan. He deserves a break, and he deserves someone nice to look after him, it would appear that she's encouraging a relationship! Maybe Richie will need to move and Therese will find it too difficult to take the girls with her and let them live with Ralph...
  25. The intrigue keeps growing and much more intense. Now...is Dexter Carter's brother?
