Again, forced to focus would be me meeting my rapist arch enemy. If he can focus on answering questions by McEricksson, I would expect something like that to break through the haze of scents. But I guess time will tell. Or JAR, in this case. Hopefully. I'm still not sure it won't go all Lynch on us... Maybe to set those powers free? Or a test to see if he really is Meta?

But in M1, the guy Colt vaguely recognises doesn't sound very disguised. If it was Adam, it sounds like he hasn't changed a bit. They even look at each other. After being stared at for a while before the rape and then living 1,5 years in fear of having his bluff called, that dace and those eyes would be pretty much etched on his retinas.

I think I would remember someone who tried to shove his dick in my ass, especially if I knew the guy and ir wasn't a random attack. Besides, he recognised Adam the second he shifted back after the killing. So maybe all wolves who are attracted by Colt can smell him? My theory is MA is having a grand old time mucking about in Colt's memories, distorting them as she sees fit. Maybe I need some too!

My theory on Gavin is that he could be part of the inner circle (even if it's full right now. Or?), but he's too young and therefore Colt can't smell him. Later, Colt can't smell him since the IC is full. Burnt sugar... Isn't that what the cop wolf attacking Colt smelled like? Is it a shadowing smell? But there was no mention of it during MaryAnn's shadowing of Prime. The owl powers seem to kick in when Colt or someone he loves is in accute danger. I don't think he needs the statue near him to use it. It's more of a symbol. Remember, he wasn't even present during the Alpha fight with Luke, still the owl hooted and time shifted. I'm sure he didn't bring the statue to that hotel. Also, I don't think Adam was there in class. Colt would surely remember Adam if he had been sitting behind him. That's a mind trick from MA.

Writing this I started to wonder if MaryAnn hasn't made another mistake? If Colt is supposed to have killed himself at 13, why would he remember this incident at 16? Or is she trying to show him how terrible his life would have been, by showing him how terrible his life was? She did seem to use Adam to associate the pine scent to something very unpleasant. Brain overload...

I guess something awful happened to get him to this stage, but he doesn't give up on himself. Just the people around him. And he is a victim of many things, but he doesn't let it become his identity.

One thing that I found both comforting and disturbing with ch 3 was the fact that Colt might be an outsider, but he's not a victim. He knows this period in his life is just to be endured until he can go on to live the life he'll choose for himself. This strength is perhaps his future Meta-ness showing. Still, it is heartbreaking to see someone at merely 16 be so closed off from other people. He's an island or rather an iceberg, afloat and adrift. No contact or real interaction. So I really, really hope he can reach the red light of love (as long as he doesn't end up in Amsterdam...). The love from his wolves will guide him right.

I thought about Adam smelling him too. Since Colt didn't smell him (anything out of the ordinary that is...), my romantic side kicked in. Not that what happened to Colt was romantic, but if his wine scent is a sign of attraction and not just an incentive to ensure 'roid transference will occur, then couldn't the pack smelling him be based on attraction too? Maybe Colt smells that way to wolves who are drawn to him?

I was running. Running faster than I had ever done before or at least I tried. Behind me, I could hear the angry voices and the neighing of a horse getting closer. I should be able to outrun them, I always could. Somehow, this time they seemed to be gaining instead. Through the narrow streets of this small town, over the slippery ground I ran. I looked over my shoulder and saw the lights from their lanterns. I could almost see their faces, distorted with anger and hate. I could definitely smell

I read it 'lost' as in pack less and therefore without purpose. I just didn't think the corps could be an ersatz pack for that long. 40 years...

Well, wouldn't the dynamics be a bit different? Lunn isn't at the top and he doesn't have only wolves in his command. Also, people isn'tssupposed to know he's a wolf. That would make acting out any alphaness kind of difficult. Or am I too stuck on McKenna?
