Hmm... I'm not sure I should or shouldn't look forward to that. Colt seems to need a thorough ass kicking, so it could be good. I guess I got a little nostalgic, reading book 1 and their struggles there. The small pack had such an intimate feel about it.

I can agree that scent may cause submission. Love and respect are to be earned, even among wolf shifters. I haven't done it before, but I suddenly feel it's more appropriate to call them shifters, since they aren't human but not quite wolves either. Their human side has to count for something.

Made scents...? LOL I get what you mean, but being the romantic I am, I maintain lust/scents/instinct is separate from love for both wolf shifter and human. As JAR said, we'll see in a year or so. (My phone said "in a tear or so". This thing has an uncanny understanding of the Metaverse...)

I don't know if I misunderstood, but this made it sound like the love came from the scents or instinct. "Is their love less real because it's forced on them by genetically controlled instincts and scents?" To me the position of Alpha or Meta (with hopefully loyalty and respect) comes from instinct and/or scent. It does not protect from betrayal. Love is something else, which I think we agree on. Colt having such high walls around his heart would as I see it be scared to love if the person(-s) he loves are not in love but only compelled by instinct to want to be near him. The wolves haven't chosen Colt on their own. That must be terrifying for Colt with his past. He's happy now, but being the logical person he is he already plans for what will happen when it all falls apart and he's alone again. Like always... To not be totally destroyed he feels the need for his walls again.

Now, wouldn't that be a surprise ending? Everyone nicely paired off and living happy little lives... Ha, ha! I slept on it and while I think your analysis is brilliant, I have one thought. Is what a wolf instinctively feels for his Alpha/Meta really love? Isn't it more a sense of duty that is very hard to override? Otherwise, they would not be able to deceive their alpha and Luke might have something to say about that.

It's a very good theory. However, I'm not sure I think there really is a difference in what they are feeling. They were all pulled together by scents and the lust they caused in all of them. Colt was no more in love in the beginning than the wolves. They were all horny. The wolves also driven by instinct to protect Colt. Something he in turn tries to do himself by using his brain. After time, they got closer and through that closeness came feelings. Feelings that now have Colt running scared. The wolves that are closest to him share his feelings. The newer ones haven't got so far yet.

I've been rereading book 1 and am a bit amazed about the things I've forgotten or missed. Colt did start out with the now popular attitude "Enjoy it while it lasts". My guess is now he's so emotionally invested he's afraid to be completely crushed if the wolves leave when he's fulfilled his roid purpose. At the same time, Prime's pack was failing without a Meta. They might be getting bigger, but I doubt they are sucking out his smarts. So I don't see how the pack will thrive without Colt even if they grow really big. They don't seem to get smarter and even if some of the newer inner circle wolves are smart, they don't outrank Prime. You wrote Robolove. I tried to be funny. I didn't think you were actually into Lowe...

Frustrating to not get an update on Silas, but I guess that makes us even with Brady. It must be hell to "know" something bad is about to happen and be stuck on a road like that. At least, band wasn't in an accident.
