  1. I’m currently drinking this one. It’s such a light powder, I need to nix it with almost boiling water. I do that in a mug with a small amount of water, then add some cold water or milk, so I can poor it into a glass with ice. It’s quite sweet, so it doesn’t need any added sweetener. Next time I’m at the store, I’m going to try a different flavour - plain or caramel, possibly.
  2. That sounds about right, and seeing the garden look so nice after all that rain we had last night is very satisfying. Yes, I have accomplished something and done it well - good for the psyche.
  3. I’m a bit of a mix of what you’ve described, tim. First and foremost, I crave silence or maybe not complete silence, but an absence of words or human noise - ie music. When I’m out for a walk it’s the sights and sounds within nature that are a balm for my soul. I rarely speak when there is a group involved. My SiL has observed - and I think she’s right - that when I do speak I do so quickly because getting in a word when there are others (alpha types who are very confident) i’d difficult. I find it easier to listen and observe rather than participate. Of course, that doesn’t stop me from reactionary (thinking about it I realize that’s what they are) comments about whatever the topic at hand happens to be - I really wish I was good “at taste your words before you spit them out” but it’s an ongoing struggle for me. Yesterday evening I was weeding the garden for more than an hour. There was a wonderful breeze and the sounds of nature. Who knew weeding and digging in the dirt could be so peaceful? Not me that’s for sure. In fact, I’m actually looking forward to getting out there again. Surprised, I am. Still, I think I should try to be more sociable, not that it’s that easy to do so right now.
  4. Thanks for sharing this, tim. Some excellent advice and ideas and thoughts within those words.
  5. There’s no helping some people. They just do the wrong thing, because they don’t care. Enjoy your wine.
  6. We only have arrows leading to the checkout stands, but you have to wait to be directed to an empty one, which strangely has been cashier #8 the last three times I’ve been there - my new lucky number, perhaps? For the rest of the store, it’s an honour system set up to avoid other shoppers and store staff which people are very good about doing. Then again, I shop at 8 a.m. when the store isn’t that busy. Oh, and there are arrows for coming in and out of the store with big bottles of hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting. As for walking up and down every aisle? That used to be my normal way of shopping. List what list?
  7. Went for a walk earlier and decided to stop in the hardware store to look for gardening supplies. Picked up some gloves, and a handheld weeder. Oh, and I got a nice long-handled scrub brush for cleaning the patio, and a really nice laundry basket - and yes, I carried it all home, though it wasn’t that hard seeing as the laundry basket had really sturdy side handles. It was easy to carry it and the broom with one hand. What I did notice right away before entering the store was a sign taped to the door that said - in very polite terms, mind you - to shop if you have a purpose - ie something you need - or if you’re just there to browse: take a hike. They have red arrows on the floor to keep people from crossing paths. Have to say, I really had to pay attention, because the rows alternated allowing you to go only a certain way, which meant walking away from where you actually want to go - this gives “take the long road” a whole new meaning. I just wonder if they were able to lay those arrows down correctly on the first try? 🤔
  8. Good evening, rick. Had dinner and finished cleaning up, so now, I’m going to read for a bit. Nothing wrong with being a little tipsy. Enjoy your night, tim.
  9. Good night tim... sweet dreamz tonight and always xoxo
  10. It’s 70F right now and the high for tomorrow is only 73F. After that, the forecasted temp is between 79-81F. It won’t be hot again until Thursday next week when it’s supposed to be 86F. I’d send some cool air your way if I could.
  11. Aww, that is a wonderful story.
  12. We haven’t had the AC on as yet, and I have to say the fresh air coming in the window is so much nicer I hope we won’t need it for quite a while. The pup is adorbs, and good on his “dad” for protecting his eyes from flying debris and the wind itself.
  13. This made me smile. Course, it also has me wanting baked oatmeal, but it’s okay, I have r/o oatmeal infused with dried cherries, so Im good. How are you looking the cooler temps, tim?
  14. I am so not a fan of change. Having said that, I realize change isn’t a bad thing - having gone through - and still going through - changes in my life this past year. I haven’t read the article yet, but I will do so later today. I think/hope it will prove to be useful to me. Thanks for sharing this, tim.
  15. Good morning DiCers! Woke up late, because the noisy high winds wouldn’t let me sleep last night. Time for coffee now, so see you all later...
  16. Funny you should ask about fireworks, rick. Night before last I heard what sounded a lot like fireworks going off - here’s hoping that’s what the noise was. Racked my brain trying to think of a reason people would be setting them off now, and came up with nothing. There will be fireworks for Canada Day, but as it’s a Wednesday maybe something will happen on the weekend - or not due to the virus. Apart from what I heard a couple of days ago, I don’t foresee an increase in firework activity.
  17. Good night tim... sweet dreamz tonight and always xoxo
  18. For the last while, birds have been chasing the squirrels - and other birds - away from the hedge in the neighbour's yard that borders our patio. Figured there was probably a nest in there with babies to protect. Sure enough, saw a baby out with mom for the first time yesterday. A few minutes ago, I got this shot of one of the babies on the kitchen window ledge escaping the rain. It was a quick shot through the screen, because i didn't want to disturb the little fella. So cute...
  19. Good luck, A! I just know your trip out will go off without a hitch.
  20. Morning Def. Not quite the same as they’re my siblings, but having one on the west coast and one in the States (though he is a lot closer than the west coaster) isn’t easy.
  21. @Wesley8890 while it might not be quite what you’re looking for - or what the site should have available for members/non-members) I found an email address for problems with donating at the bottom of the donations page. https://donate.nifty.org/donate.html As this is a donation (more like ransom if you ask me) issue, I’d think using this email would be appropriate. If you decide to contact them, good luck! As an aside, it’s quite something this site doesn’t have a way for readers to contact the administrators for things other than donating to their cause. 🤨 Edit: @drpaladin I see I’ve basically repeated the info you found.
  22. Hi Thorn *waves* Hope it was the same for you as well.
  23. That sounds like a good and very pleasant idea. Have a nice evening, Chris.
