  1. Another wonderful story in the King's Rangers series. As the old saying goes, "Please, Sir, may we have more?" The surprise which happens in the middle of the story makes me wonder how Vale will react when he finds out the event which is such a surprise to Arjun. Two kids suddenly as wards of Arjun might make Arjon's promise to Vale for after the celebration more challenging to accomplish -- Another tantalizing tale tempting the desire to delve deeper into this world.

  2. For those reading the King's Rangers series by Myr, this is both informative and helpful.
  3. A really good story. Ryn and Feng have each learned some things about the culture of the other, and their future seems to be interesting. I do hope there are, eventually, multiple sequels -- the story is THAT good. I heartily recommend this superb short story.

    Chapter 1

Excellent story. Enough detail to understand and enjoy without excessive descriptive prose. I really enjoyed this story and am reading the rest of the series.
  5. An excellent story, which is easily read and understood. The characters are well-defined, and, better yet, fascinating. I highly recommend this story.

    Chapter 1

An excellent story, @Myr. I do hope you seriously consider a sequel. More about Finlay and Logan would be appreciated. With the care shown by both guys, it would be an intriguing story. I had to look up the term candlemarks. It was almost as I had thought. The term "candlemark," I was thinking it would be a candle with some sort of marker used on it to designate time as the candle burned. I have heard of that, but the term was much more cumbersome -- something like "marks on a candle at regular intervals which assist in measuring time as the candle burns down. Candlemark/candlemarks would be a good one for your vocabulary words at some time in the future. If you don't make a direct sequel perhaps a story in the same setting with different characters? I greatly enjoyed this story.
  7. I don't know either, but does the national government or Vevo have a filter that blocks certain websites? A friend works for a college in the state west of me, run by the VERY conservative legislature, and it is required that his internet system of the college block words like ass, p*ssy, f***, ass****, and some others. Many of the websites are also blocked by name, as well. Could that be the problem?

    Chapter 26

Only Garvin should be able to actually USE the lens. He would not be able to use it as effectively and efficiently as Jamie, but it should respond to him, at least a little bit. Just a thought. You are the author, therefore the ultimate authority.

    Chapter 26

@Geron Kees, re-reading this chapter for perhaps the twentieth time (because it is such a great chapter) I have a thought. Couldn't Garvin use the lens almost as well as Jamie, since they were together in the nether, and the lens was formed because of their love? If Garvin was using the lens, would Garvin's speed and strength powers transfer to Jamie? Also,, in a future story, I think Jamie might consider taking Garvin, Gorge, Geert, Dorf, Kundrun, Lestho, Pallin, and Bastyin, Thorvil, Irik, and Snave to the nether and getting them fitted with the translocation and wind funnel amplifying device such as he has. This could be a mage service transporting people and objects that most mages could not match. Irik could move those of the Watchers of the Wall where needed quickly. Additionally, having Dorf, Kundrun, Lestho, and Pallin so equipped would mean King Myron the Morbid and Price Sedwick could quickly move supplies, troops, and trade goods as needed within and without the Kingdom. Just a few random thoughts, Geron.

    Chapter 42

Great chapter. Marc and Adam make a great team., and they have such great support from their people because of the way they are treated. Adam now knows more of Marc's plans, but both keep their silence as to the extent of the plans. It will be interesting to see how the Dupont Corporation meshes in with the the rest of the Alexander-Knight corporation. From what Pierre and Robin have said, there probably will be considerable resistance to some of the changes. But in the end, it will be good.
  11. Much of life seems to be shaded into a charade of pretending to be someone a person is not. At times I have had fascinating discoveries of who someone is behind their charade of what they deliberately project.
  12. This was a well-written tale and a story to be enjoyed, despite the fact that the author should have been more aware of places with similar names for the lab and the fact that prevailing winds normally blow from west to east. (Another author, on another site, named a fictional city in 2004 and gave it a fictional location, only to be informed that there was a real town of 3,000 with the same name at the location he gave as fiction for a city of 125,000!) Sometimes Google Maps can be your friend. In spite of a couple of drawbacks like this, I give the story five stars because it is such a pleasure to read -- once you get past what happens in the first two chapters, and questions start being answered. Suspense builds as more questions are raised and questions are answered. I recommend this story as a good read that intrigues, interests, and involved readers.

  13. A good summary and finish to the story, @Lee Wilson. I notice some hooks for the next story to hang out for possible resolution and/or continuation in B Book 3. A -- Marie-Louise moving to a suburb of Knoxville. B -- George, Jr., Lionel, and Lorenzo/Larry adjusting to life in a different city with George Sr., Vanessa, and Leah. Will Lionel and Lorenzo/Larry be adopted by G Senior and Vanessa, will they be the legal guardians, or will they be foster children? I predict after a getting-to-know-each-other period, they will be adopted. C -- Benjamin. He figured out much of the cause of survival, and should get at least mentions in the next book. He'll also have to go to a different medical school, since the faculty and staff where he was is no more. D -- The case of Dr. Kenneth Allen. @Al Norris raised a good point about China having many more nukes than were used on North Korea. So (hint, hint), Book 2 will start Sunday? BTW (By The Way), I loved the story.
  14. I have read your comments on various chapters of stories, and for some time the comments have been getting more diplomatic and less directly abrasive, (sometimes with a few exceptions). I have appreciated the changes. For the majority of persons, honey attracts more than vinegar.

    The Interviews

Over the past several months, @Summerabbacat and @Lee Wilson, I have seen more than one AI incorrect statement. AI is not yet at the level many of the AI programmers' claims say. Lee Wilson, this is one of your best stories yet, possibly the best in terms of what stories appeal to me. Well done.

    The Interviews

Acting President Reed could have had a video conference call with other surviving Senators and had himself elected Speaker Pro Tempore of the Senate, putting him in direct line for the Presidency. This would have required a relatively simple parliamentary move called "Suspension of the Regular Rules" or something like that. If he was elected Speaker Pro Tempore before the surviving Congressmen elected a new Speaker of the House, he would have automatically become President of the United States under the 25th Amendment. Very good interviews. I am surprised no one mentioned Dolly's cover of In the Ghetto by Elvis. It was also very good. Did Chicago escape the death cloud?
  17. I like the list of related words given in this.
  18. @Bill W, @drpaladin, @sandrewn, and @Myr -- I am surprised not one of you have brought up the related term -- recapacitate -- meaning to restore capability. Also no one has mentioned decapacitate -- reducing the capability of someone or something. There might be other related forms I am not familiar with.
  19. Online double hernia surgery would be worse -- probably.
  20. The person who carries the nuclear football for the President is also dead. So another question becomes -- where is the football? And who in addition to the President has to authorize the nuclear codes? The Speaker of the House is a Congressperson also. Obviously the California guy is NOT the Speaker, or the question would not come up. At one time it was proposed to add the Governors of the 50 States be added to the succession list, in the order of their statehood -- or, for the first 13 Colonies, the order in which they ratified the Constitution. However, that has never been OFFICIALLY approved. Such would deepen the Presidential pool of choices. That is a close to political as I will get. It is history that the Governor Succession act has not been passed.
  21. Sometimes GA needs a more neutral emoticon, such as an easily accessible "Hmmmmm" icon. Marie-Louise did act in a way not as common for her. Kudos for that. Lorenzo/Larry can prosper with the others at the hotel. The way Marie-Louise reacted to Lorenzo/Larry makes me wonder if ML had younger siblings at home which she sometimes had to care for.

    Chapter 40

I suspect the Basalt Corporation is -- at least partly -- being manipulated by someone or some group.
  23. Jesse and Marty continue to explore their relationship, and Jesse has a lot of internal analysis of how he feels about another guy. Some of this analysis is sparked by Marty's older sister Parker, but most comes from his own thoughts. Add in new experiences and situations, this story has more to think about that is immediately apparent. Good story.

  24. Not every kid falls in the "normal" ranges of capacities, sensitivities, or way of comprehension. Marty and Jesse learn more about types of persons in the world and possible ways of reacting and acting in different situations. For more details, see the excellent review by @raven1 above. I recommend this story.
