    Tropical Tropes

That sounds good to me! I'd build a whole trip around a place called "Sandy's Superb Seashore Seafood Shack" 🤣

    Tropical Tropes

PT #181.5: Together as a family, you decided to travel to a tropical island with many mountains and decide to rent a car. However, every road feels like a roller coaster with more twists, turns, hills and dips than the designated driver has ever driven through. Will the family make it to the infamous seashore seafood restaurant near the beach? Will anyone remember the parking brake to prevent the car from rolling down the hill? Will anyone remember the bug spray when swarms of mosquitoes circle their prey at 6pm?
  4. Yessss. This Sunday is sewing Sunday for my group of friends. Maybe, just maybe, I'll finish ironing patches onto the Jester costume I've been slowly making from scratch over the last several months.
  5. I, too, am a turophile.
  6. 5/12/2025 Update: So, I think my primary doctor strategically sent me to a cancer specialist to expedite my testing. 🤣I'm not complaining because this Saturday I'm getting a CT scan, and they can finally see which of my organs (if not multiple) are crying bloody murder! 🎉
  7. Gollum: Give it to us raw and wiggling! Sushi or sashimi?
  8. I remember using a digital version of this (an online randomizer) during the last SA event.
  9. You have a point there. 🤔
  10. From how far away can you smell? I've once caught the scent of cologne from forty feet away. 😂It was a very nice scent, and I took it upon myself to tell people when the scents work for them. I hunted different perfumes for years until I found the one that matched my chemistry (which turned out to be a rare run that doesn't exist anymore). I lost where I was going with all this. Right! I have a cursed nose, too. Sensitive to scents. Allergic too, to boot.
  11. I know the feeling. Try not to party so hard that you feel it tomorrow! 😂💜
  12. That is great news!!! Let's go!🎉
  13. That's actually a kind of accurate description.
  14. If you make it a short, under 10k words story, you can! Says the person who said she wasn't joining this year to join the guessing crew instead. I still have to finish the anthology piece, so I'm hoping others are willing to provide entries for Secret Author. Also, @Cia just to clarify to first timers, on this line: 5. Games will be played! Guess the Author is always fun. We will also do "Favorite Use of Theme" this year. Do NOT reveal the truth! You mean for the writers to not reveal themselves, right? I read it so fast that for the smallest moment, I thought you meant don't reveal the truth in the story itself even though the theme is to reveal the truth in the piece you are entering.

    What's Next?

I meant other than my own. 😂 Although, I have to admit I do forget details of my own story after just a few months. I have to write notes on everything.

    What's Next?

I don't remember if I got any guesses correct, but at least one correct guess is good enough for me.

    What's Next?

Oof. I'm close to finishing my creature feature entry.
  18. That's what I'll find out on Monday. While the pain is constant and annoying, it's not at the "nearly giving birth contraction" pain I felt 4 months ago. So, unless I pass out, can't walk around anymore, or suddenly drop dead, I'll drag my ass to the doctor's on Monday at the allotted time I was given. They'll run more tests, realize nothing has improved, and will hopefully figure something out. I hate opioids and stronger pain meds, as they either knock me out or have me dizzy for hours. Some are even addictive. If I can no longer walk or remain upright, I'll be in the ER. At this point, I'm very much feeling an "I don't care how invasive it is, shove a camera in and have a look around my organs already" state right now.
  19. 4/30/2025 Update: So, in trying to resolve my genetic woes from one side of the family, the genes from the other side of the family began crying bloody murder. I see the doctor again on Monday, but I'm still very much in pain. Have been in nigh constant pain since 4/15. I don't take pain meds because a 15-minute break feels meaningless to me.
  20. I know some readers like consistency in chapter lengths. But we weren't treated to exact chapter lengths in the past. There was one book I read where one chapter only had one sentence. That's it! Just one sentence. So, so long as something is happening in those long chapters and I'm invested in what's going on, I don't care how long or short they get... At least, not until I have to go back and edit 30-page long chapters like I've recently had to do. To be fair, the story had 20-30 pages per chapter fairly often with entertaining content. But I was still kicking myself over having to edit such long chapters. Reading them, however, I keep chugging along.
  21. That reminds me, the other day I saw a grey rabbit dashing down the sidewalk while I was traveling and then I saw a pet shop at the corner. I kept wondering what his great escape must have been like. Edit: The crime rate is so high in my area, I immediately thought, "they'll never take him back to the slammer."
