  1. I'd say brainwashed by consumerism Getting a good deal isn't bad though. It's just when it becomes all those things you don't really need. How much more money do you end up spending in the year because of 'sales'? When I'll end up going shopping the rest of the time anyway. I'd rather go shopping when I need something. But I see your point. I don't shop much. Just realised I haven't been in ages. Doesn't mean I don't somehow waste my money in other ways . also, I don't like getting stressed while shopping more than I have to. sales time is always crazy.
  2. partner seems to be on the rise in the UK. I hear people say that all the time. of course we have 'civil partnerships' that also goes with that. But loads say partner. but yeah to me it seems 'old' , and certainly serious. where I am no-where near that.
  3. Peter Pan. both the cartoon version and the one with actors.
  4. Or maybe The United States of Eurasia as vying for 2nd place. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLfxpolWDp8 Hmmmm ... You and me are the same we don't know or care whose to blame But we know that whoever holds the reins Nothing will change our cause has gone insane And these wars they can't be won And these wars they can't be won And do you want them to go on, on and on? Why split these states when there can be only one? And must we do as we're told? And must we do as we're told? You and me fall in line To be punished for unproven crimes And we know there is no one we can trust Our ancient heroes they are turning to dust And these wars they can never be won Does anyone know or care how they begun? They just promise to go on, and on and on But soon we will see there can only be one United States, United States of Eurasia, sia, sia, sia! Eurasia, sia, sia, sia! Eurasia, sia, sia, sia!
  5. I think at the moment my favourite song is Feeling Good. But I agree Uprising is my 2nd favourite Birds flying high you know how I feel Sun in the sky you know how I feel Breeze driftin' on by you know how I feel It's a new dawn It's a new day It's a new life For me And I'm feeling good Fish in the sea you know how I feel River running free you know how I feel Blossom in the trees you know how I feel It's a new dawn It's a new day It's a new life For me And I'm feeling good Dragonflies out in the sun you know what I mean, don't you know Butterflies all havin' fun you know what I mean Sleep in peace when the day is done And this old world is a new world And a bold world For me Stars when you shine you know how I feel Scent of the pine you know how I feel Oh freedom is mine And you know how I feel It's a new dawn It's a new day It's a new life For me And I'm feeling good
  6. Maybe. You're probably right. I just didn't have patience for it . And really, why did he become so important so fast? note: i have watched the first fim but a little while ago. and had a similar-ish reaction I think.
  7. I haven't read the books. So that's probably against me in terms of enjoying the film, or so I've been told by a friend . I saw it tonight. and felt it was like slow torture. All that damn music. and the long silences, and heavy breathing, and miserable faces. and nothing happening. hardly any talking either. and that damn music most of all. It's like they wanted to have tension for the whole damn film. based on the same thing I mentioned above. there was nothing there to sustain it. so the music just created tension in me. so nope. didn't like the film. Good concept. sort of. could be good. but to me they butchered it.
  8. yeah, there really must have been. It is just unbelievable what the rugby boys get up to. and they are always dressing up. I'm sure I even saw a couple of them joke kiss once.
  9. Happy birthday, enjoy that laptop
  10. only in america, and where-ever else. the uk is 16.
  11. Homeward Bound. We watched that lots as well.
  12. I forgot to mention the rugby boys. (I suppose, if I have to, comparable to your football players). They always get naked. Always. Every single night out they seem to strip. no matter where. and on their nights were they are doing some kind of 'thing' or theme to their socials often that would involve nudity. I remember once, I was annoyed at the time, because I just needed a quiet drink and it wasn't late or busy in the bar, and this rugby team comes in (it could have been the uni one not the college, can't remember) and their captain ordered them into a line in the middle of the room and told them all to drop their pants. Then they tried to get a girl to 'rate their cocks'. Some girl did end up doing it. Their initiations always involved public nudity as well. But they were usually disgusting affairs where they'd make them do revolting things. The aim was to make them sick and humiliate them as much as possible in the beer garden. I think once they even stuck the tip of a candle in each of their bums while they had to drink this horrible stuff that even had pubes in it. Boys are weird. really. (after a national scandal uni's have cracked down on this, but they still try and get around the rules).
  13. It's so great remembering all these films. I'd forgotten about some of them and how great they were.
  14. What's everyone's favourite song? I'm not sure which is mine.
  15. I didn't like the first few episodes. Well, I did, but I didn't think they had an edge to them that made them great. But now I am hooked, and it's either because it has now got that edge, or I just want to find out what the big secret's are. I also quite like the intellectual questions floating in it.
  16. hey all I LOVE MUSE! do you? they are great. Just saw them live on Children In Need's night at the Albert Hall accompanied by loads of musicians. I can't give you that one just yet, but here is their latest song Or this: http://www.casttv.com/video/3fx6xs/fury-by-muse-live-at-the-royal-albert-hall-video or this or this
  17. France? hmmmm . I'll maybe wait for the London one. as creepily odd as it sounds
  18. Do you fancy it? In france a guest house or room has been opened that gives you the experience of living as a hamster. weird. would you? I'm betting my best friend would just for the heck of it, if it wasn't so expensive (at least for us ). http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/blog/2009/nov/18/human-hamster-hotel-france?page=all
  19. aww, why? My Christmas's are spent shuttling between parents. Even now all these years after the divorce and I'm 22 I still have to think about how not to offend one of them. (edit: usually means can't spend time with friends as I have less time, espeically with the huge distance between where they live). My dad is a little kid at heart so xmas with him is great. and it usually snows where he lives, but the cold of snow and sledging has worn off now after all these years. But if I do go to his I go to the tiny hamlet church across the river for the evening service and see all the odd neighbours in the valley. My mum, well things have been a bit more depressing in terms of those spent with her recently. But hopefully that should improve this year. I don't want to have to organise christmas, but that's what I have been doing if I spend it with her, too stressful. If I didn't put up the decorations, or insist we did it as a family, it wouldn't get done. But that's unfair really she's been very ill the last few years which is why. But it's dominating my memory of christmas's at home. Other than that we always go to one of her brothers or sisters for the afternoon or boxing day, which is usually great as we are a fairly large family and there are so many kids around it can't be anything but fun. And it relieves me from cooking, thank goodness. Well, apart from having to mediate between certain family members and in laws. celia
  20. thanks. yeah she is finally starting to get better.
  21. I agree with Paya. Europe is not always what you imagine it to be. We did have showers in my school, but they were in cubicles. But people rarely used them. well they did if we'd done things like cross country in the mud. I remember my classes were usually last so we would just go home. Though you would usually see lots of bra's. I can't really remember much details from then. Oh, the changing rooms always stank. So you'd try and get out of there fast, unless you didn't like PE. The first time I encountered someone getting nude in a shower was when I did the Tall ships race in europe at 17. I think the girl was from Estonia and we were using the cities swimming pool showers which were communal (I think this was in Aalborg in Denmark). I was a bit shocked and intrigued. I however didn't strip off but kept my bikini on. I've since though stripped off the top half while in changing rooms and showers. And like Nephy I often dart about the house naked to glasses of water and stuff in the night and you can see the street (I live in a flat), am quite daring in fact at times in terms of passers-by seeing me. Other than that, in France I've noticed they are a lot more open with their bodies. and like's been said, those bodies you don't want to see you invariably do. and the men wear tight speedos where you can see everything, again with the same principle. If you have things like spray tans done you need to strip off as well, so done that. oh, and forgot, bathing topless while on holiday. I quite like it now, also the idea that you are making other people uncomfortable. But some women, on a beach crowded with people and children will do allsorts just casually. I only lie down, but they'll play sports or go for walks or jogs and that sort of things. sometimes with their boobs down to their waists. . and also reminded me of. my mum once told me of a time she visited Berlin - it may even have been not long after the wall came down. This hotel had a bar that you could see into the swimming pool underneath the surface as one wall. and the germans would be swimming naked. while you sipped your cocktails. that's weird.
  22. I haven't seen any of them. I'll maybe have to dig them out. W.L that is typical so many people love that film. I liked it, but it wasn't my favourite.
  23. I'm not too sure I'm sold on the love thing . maybe like A lot. but love? from Matt's side? I'm sure you'll prove me wrong
  24. If what my gran had/has was because of the vaccine she was seriously ill. She had something my mum called Rigours, - no idea if I have spelt that right. became ridiculously weak. wouldn't eat, was even sick from food. couldn't get warm, had a temperature, all that sort of thing. They were just worried it would be pneumonia because she had it last year. and no doubt you are right about the pharma, they will do anything. and all those poor chickens that got killed just for the vaccine. egg was in the vaccine. my aunts got some chickens that were saved from the slaughter. used just for those egss for the vaccine, then getting thrown away.
