Being sorry should be a function of remorse, not fear. If you are sorry, say so. If you are afraid, run.
  2. OK, here's the next challenge...
  3. So... Why is he your hero?
  4. Herbert George "Blondie" Hasler? I did not cheat. I took the clues provided and did a Google search for "Royal marine, sailor, cockelshell heroes". On the second page of hits, I found a Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_Hasler. A Google search for "herbert george hasler photos" yielded an entry http://en.ww2awards.com/person/49830 which included the following picture: So, am I right?

  9. James, thanks for your thoughtful comments. Signals intelligence is an excellent means of keeping up with what your enemies are planning. Our landline, cellphone, an internet infrastructure provide the tools needed for such spying. But you should expect some hysteria from the American public when they learn that their government has turned from spying on our enemies to spying on our citizens. Such domestic intelligence activity is the lifeblood of the police state. Dave, spying on private citizens and selling that intelligence to others is big business. Google and Facebook are following the lead of - and cooperating with - the government because they need political cover for their activities. Their lobbying and political contributions ensure that their commercial spying will continue to be directed against the citizens whom the politicians supposedly represent. I am not hysterical, merely livid.
  10. Oka Kapassa, AL Oka Kapassa (Ococoposa), meaning "Cold Water," was the Chickasaw name given to Spring Creek and to a trading post established near the Tennessee River about 1780. About 1817, Michael Dickson and others were greeted at what by then was called Big Spring by Chief Tuscumbia, a Chickasaw rainmaker. The settlers named the new town in his honor in 1822. Colbert County, formed in 1867 from the northern half of Franklin County, was named for Chickasaw Chieftains George Colbert, operator of an inn and ferry on the Natchez Trace at the Tennessee River, and his brother, Levi Colbert, who ran an inn on the Trace at Buzzard Roost Spring.
  11. Sad, but true. Everything you put on Facebook should be considered public and government property.

  15. I would think Trevor's insuror would gladly pay for the second time. More that that, the insurance company should sign Trevor and Shane to be spokespersons. That would be much better than Flo.
  16. OK. I'm guessing the obvious reason for the mustachioed one being your hero is not the mustache. Also, he is likely British but that is not it either. C J has given you lots of credit for helping him with Circumnavigation, especially the sailing scenes. So, are we looking at a sailor?
  17. Man called Brian A man walked out to the street and caught a taxi just going by. He got into the taxi, and the cabbie said, "Perfect timing. You're just like Brian" Passenger: "Who?" Cabbie: "Brian Sullivan. He's a guy who did everything right all the time. Like my coming along when you needed a cab, things happen like that to Brian Sullivan, every single time." Passenger: "There are always a few clouds over everybody." Cabbie: "Not Brian Sullivan. He was a terrific athlete. He could have won the Grand Slam at tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an opera baritone and danced like a Broadway star and you should have heard him play the piano. He was an amazing guy." Passenger: "Sounds like he was something really special." Cabbie: "There's more. He had a memory like a computer. He remembered everybody's birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order and which fork to eat them with. He could fix anything. Not like me. I change a fuse, and the whole street blacks out. But Brian Sullivan, he could do everything right." Passenger: "Wow. Some guy then." Cabbie: "He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid traffic jams. Not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them. But Brian, he never made a mistake, and he really knew how to treat a woman and make her feel good. He would never answer her back even if she was in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished too. He was the perfect man! He never made a mistake. No one could ever measure up to Brian Sullivan." Passenger: "An amazing fellow. How did you meet him?" Cabbie: "Well, I never actually met Brian. He died. I'm married to his F____ing widow!"

  20. Westie, I hope you will do well with the diet and that you will feel much better as a result. I think aquatics is a good suggestion. Many of my older friends with arthritis cannot tolerate any exercise outside a pool. You should check it out...it may give you a chance to exercise joints without a lot of pain. Tell Paya I said to treat you right. Do I get another gold star?
