I'm thinking they've all gone down to Washington to get a slice of the pie.
These telephone answering systems are a pain in the neck. Companies use them to save money on customer service and end up costing you a lot of your time. I desperately needed gas in my car last night only to have my credit card declined at the pump. I got home and called the 24-hour customer service number, responded to all the requests for secret info to identify myself, only to have the customer friendly 24-hour recording tell me to call back during normal business hours. What the @%*&$@? I called again and responded to every demand for information by pressing zero. After only four zeroes, I got a real, live 24-hour person who informed me that there was no problem with my credit; their system was down and they couldn't approve any transactions. Next time I get a recording I am going to respond with the zero key only.
If computers were really smart, they would tell you exactly what the problem is so you could use another card or pay cash.
