  1. OK. Who are these people?
  2. OK. Who are these people?
  3. Of course, that's not to say he won't toy with us along the way.
  4. I agree. C J would not do that to us. The end will be dramatic, realistic, and satisfactory.
  5. Red_A is close enough. Congratualtions! The First Photograph [France, 1826] Officially known as View from the Window at Le Gras. Taken by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce, this is the first photograph ever taken which still exists. He called his method heliography (sun writing) and this photograph took 8 hours of exposure time (hence sunlight on both sides of the building). What first appeared to me to be two people (left center of the photo) is probably a tree in the distance seen between two wings of the building in the foreground. OK, who's next?
  6. Wouldn't it really depend on who is bedside when he awakes? I mean, that would make or break the whole story.
  7. If readers only knew...
  8. Since this photo is not very sharp, don't try to name the people in it. Just identify the photo itself.
  9. Bear relaxing from rummaging through the garbage dump...
  10. Arnold Bellevue is alive and well and living in Scotland.
  11. Aarhus, Denmark Aerial view of Aarhus City Centre & South Harbour
  12. Best wishes, Edward. Buying your first home is a major event and you deserve it. I think you should appeal to the original mortgage company to stand by their commitment. I'm not sure of the legalities involved, but they should follow through with the loan. Hang in there.
  13. Here are an interesting, even breathtaking couple of photos. Look at the picture above and you can see where this driver broke through the guardrail, on the right side of the culvert, where the people are standing on the road, pointing. The pick-up was traveling about 75 mph from right to left when it crashed through the guardrail. It flipped end-over-end, bounced off and across the culvert outlet, and landed right side up on the left side of the culvert, facing the opposite direction from which the driver was traveling. The 22-year-old driver and his 18-year-old passenger were unhurt except for minor cuts and bruises. This occurred just outside Flagstaff, AZ, on U.S. Hwy 100. Now look at the second picture below... That's what I consider a close call.
  14. Got it! What a great clue (once I paid attention)! Flying frogs? Red_ A mentioned them several times. I did a Google search. Found several sites such as Wikipedia and finally came across a National Geographic article about the flying frog discovered by Alfred Russel Wallace, 19th-century British naturalist, who first described the species in 1869. He discovered it in the Malay Archipelago (not quite as far from England as Australia and New Zealand are). Flying through the air with a semblance of ease, the Wallace's flying frog is one of few aerial amphibians. A search for Alfred Russel Wallace yielded these pictures: 1848 1878 1902 I'm ready for another.
  15. I think we can rule out Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon. They lived before the age of photography and Pennsylvania/Maryland can hardly be considered the Antipodies. As you can see, I am in need of another clue.
  16. Yay, Mathieu! Happy Birthday!
  17. I don't know if there are any better PDF readers available; there probably are some in the open source software universe. My bandwidth is sufficient and at a fixed price, so I haven't been concerned with the Adobe updates. They do have them frequently...probably as often as I actually use the software. I use it primarily to "fix" documents I e-mail to other people, so there is no chance of alteration. As for Norton (or McAfee)...ditch it. I have found AVG (http://free.avg.com/us-en/homepage) to be great antivirus software...and it's free.
  18. Hey, that's not much of a clue. And the link is superfluous. I know the meaning of "photogenic". Or, could the fashion challenged, visually deficient, long lived Antipodean have once studied flying frogs?
  19. True. If you pay the quarterback enough, there will be no experienced offensive linemen to protect his âne riche.
  20. Who would not feel respected at $120.6 mil?
  21. El Porvenir, Panama

  23. Good news, Andy! I will be looking forward to Wednesdays.
  24. Could this be John Septimus Roe?
