  1. I am very uncomfortable here. Where's Chapter 17? I agree with Drew's assessment of Steve's predictions.
  2. Why am I not greatly relieved by your words? Why do I still feel like I'm on the edge of a cliff?
  3. Myr's da man. Thanks, Myr.
  4. What? Me worry? There's a big difference between Kilauea and Mt. St. Helens. The first produces a continuous flow of lava; the latter produces an explosive blast on (very) rare occasions. Your own description of the La Palma volcano puts it in the explosive category. Repeat of a public service announcement...Confidential to CJ's fans: I have it on good authority that the goat's first name is Cliff (as in Clifford). How cool is that?
  5. Tequila, of course.
  6. Looking good, Will.
  7. P F Chang Menu No need to memorize it.
  8. Great chapter, CJ. I was sure Eric was going to sneak up on Jansen and "pants" him (or is it de-pants?).
  9. C James has released Chapter 16 of Changing Lanes. The show must go on.
  10. Have you tried 2 a.m.?
  11. Edited to remove comment about being unable to edit an entry. Thanks, Sharon.
  12. I agree with you on Duncan Ryder, Dom. His stories are great. I disagree with nearly everyone else who's responded here about WalMart. If money's no object, by all means shop at the mall. But you can indeed buy the exact same thing at WalMart for less. It seems many people in my community who have a negative impression of WalMart have never actually been inside one of the stores. I consider that strange.

I agree. Never leave a job before you have a new, better job in hand.
  14. Geeks. All that you two said is over my head. Glad I'm a frog...just wallowing in the mud...no cliffs, no cares. Life is good.
  15. Geee...I thought you were a goat. Turns out you are a #@&!@ geek. No wonder you're afraid to change to a 21st century operating system. You've painted yourself into a corner while having your back to a cliff. All I can say is "happy landings".
  16. I'm not a geek; just a lowly amphibian, but I think you should install XP on your PC. It's a great operating system...maybe the best ever from Microsoft. I've used it (XP Pro) for five years with no significant problems. Vista makes XP look great; maybe Microsoft slipped up when they made XP. I think all you need to do is install it, then download the free updates (service packs or whatever they are called) and enjoy the benefits: (1) a stable OS, (2) the same system as your laptop, and (3) no need to return the printer/scanner thingy. If a frog can do it, you know a goat can. (Goats have this irrational fear thing; comes from peering over the edge of precipices. )
  17. Sure I have Google Earth. Us frogs is always up-to-date.
  18. Death is a part of life. We don't realize that when we are young. Our great grandparents die when we are in our teens or preteens; our grandparents die when we are young adults. When we reach our fifties, our parents pass away. That's pretty typical of our lives; the ancestors die because they are old. But something else happens in our fifties...our friends begin to die. Sure, we know a few who died young as victims of tragic accidents or as casualties of war or the fury of nature. But when a fifty-something friend dies of cancer we think "he died at an early age". The truth is he died at our own age. Without becoming morose, we have to prepare ourselves for the onslaught of the inevitable. We will gradually begin to see more friends pass from this life. A few of those will be very special friends...those with whom we have our dearest relationships. With their passing, we need to dwell on the good times we shared, the best memories. Nick, I send you and your friend my sympathy for your loss.
  19. Well, the volcano which may or may not erupt during the wedding, continues to build as a cliffhanger. CJ's cliffhangers don't have to be the obvious, abrupt, end-of-chapter variety. They can build slowly over the span of several chapters, with different clues, many of them subtle, leading to the climactic moment. As Benji pointed out, " " A picture really is worth a thousand words. Just consider how much Scar learned from only two snapshots.
  20. C James has released Chapter 15 of Changing Lanes. Picture this.
  21. Thanks for your thoughtful blog entry, James. There's no way of knowing if the Obama presidency will play out as you foresee it, but I sincerely believe those in the gay community who are so ecstatic at Obama's election now will be much less enthusiastic in four or eight years. It seems, too, that the champion of change is busy loading his administration (cabinet and staff) with retreads from the Clinton administration. Do all those voters who did not want four more years of George Bush (McCain) really want four more years of Bill Clinton? Obama may be at the mercy of the Clintonistas and a Democratic Congress and be unable to make any of the changes he intends. This would be a good time for someone to document everything that Obama promised to the gay community. The list should be limited to what was actually promised and not include what is only hoped for. (We may be surprised how little was actually promised.) Then we could keep score for the next four years and see what is actually accomplished. I expect some sad faces. Here's an interesting article about the first disappointment Obama has already handed to gays.
  22. Huh? Our dark-haired Swede merely said he did not consider the camera thing to be suspenseful. See? Hardly a declaration...much less a certification.
  23. Happy Birthday, Bryce! I hope you have a great day and a great year. The 16th year is one of the best. Make the most of it. Look forward to chatting with you soon. Mike
  24. Nothing to worry about? That's what the people living around Mt St. Helens thought back in 1980. Remember the local character named Harry Truman? Poof! Caption: Harry Truman
  25. Listen up, trooper! Get your gear together and pay attention as you read this chapter...and please comment here when you have read it. Someone is looking for another certification of a cliffhanger-free chapter. Well..I can give you a definite maybe. Scar has a particular interest in General Bradson's :
