    Chapter 6

Oh, you'll find out just how good it is soon enough. I was inspired for this scene by a certain music video from one of my favorite bands, 30 Seconds to Mars. In their video for Closer to the Edge they have moments where they switch to their fans and let them talk about the power of music. You know what? I'll just add a link to the video on the forum.

One of my beta readers said something similar when he reached this point.
  3. This is about a universal coming out and not just coming out as gay.

Don't we all. But I will neither confirm nor deny that the band and Silas will get back together. A lot can happen in the story to come.

Me neither. Thanks for the comment!

Robert, I'm always pleased to read your stunning reviews. The next chapter will be here Saturday, and I know that it's going to be a big one for a lot of readers. Change is on the wind. White-Chocolate Antifreeze is probably my favorite. Fowl City was a modification of Owl City, and The Demons of the Crossroads I saw as the four directions.

That pretty much describes Brady. Thank you for reading!

You're welcome. More to come. Thanks for the comment!

    Chapter 6

Once again I am grateful for your insights. I love the band so much, and can you believe that they originally weren't going to be in the story beyond the first chapter? I was blissfully surprised to find out how wrong I was about the direction my own story needed to go.

    Chapter 6

Brady drummed the pencil in his hand against the pad lying in his lap. The words were coming slowly but surely now that Theo was the one driving and he had the chance to put them down on paper. Jack and Stacey were in the back seat entangled in each other’s arms and fast asleep. Or at least Jack was. Stacey had a content smile on her face that said she was just enjoying cuddling with her man. He was glad to see them get that time together. “What are you working on, Braids?” Theo asked, glanc

Thanks for the review, Les! I thought the dog food was a nice touch as well. Chelsea's the type of girl who is always looking out for everyone around her, and Silas is no exception for her charity. I'm glad you're enjoying the story and thanks for letting me know what you think!

    Chapter 5

I like what drpaladin had to say on this over at the forum for The Navigator. "Silas is very resourceful and self sufficient because he was forced to be. That has the tendency to imagine that he has more emotional maturity than he actually has. In some ways he is still that eight year old boy that was abandoned by his closest family member with no explanation. Remember that he was given no explanation until he was twelve. He is emotionally stunted. Was what he did to Jenny cruel and extreme? Well yeah. That is a defense mechanism to push people away. I'm sure he's used it before. It's his nuke. He has had no one trustworthy to talk to and rationalize what has happened in his life in a fully open way." In many ways I think Chelsea is the right person to balance out Silas, but I am biased. They're both my children.

Well, I think we all know here that words have power, right? Surprises in store for Silas and the gang.

    Chapter 5

Silas is a survivor, and he'll always do what it takes to survive. But if he isn't feeling threatened he's generally quite amiable. I thought CHelsea was the perfect match for him, because she's always looking out for others and that's about as nonthreatening as someone can be.

    Chapter 2

Unfortunately the church over the child is very common in the religion that the boys were brought up in. It happened a lot in my own childhood (I was raised Mormon like the boys were) and I still carry more resentment than I should for that. Also, Mormons tend to have a lot of kids, so between the oldest and the youngest there tend to be significant gaps. Eight years between is fairly common.

    Chapter 1

Well I hope you enjoy the rest of them. I update every Wednesday and Saturday.
  20. A valid point. Silas doesn't do well with trusting anyone, and a stranger of all people! It's to be expected, even if it is wrong.
  21. I agree with you. When it comes to what I said in the reviews as to agreeing with both you and Cannd, is that while there is a basis for Silas to act that way, I'd say that from an ethical perspective it generally isn't good to leave a woman crying in the street. I have a hard time siding against Silas, and I have a hard time siding against Jenny. It's a bad situation that they're caught up in, and there really isn't a right answer until Silas is able to come to terms with what has happened and what is still happening. His emotions are justified, surely, but is his treatment of Jenny justified? But either way, Silas is in a position to evolve and overcome his past. The real question is what is he going to have to go through in order overcome it?

    Chapter 5

Stay tuned. What I can say (Because no one knows this) Is that Ian left the church for the exact same reason I did, and nothing is ever as it seems.

    Chapter 5

Chelsea is going to be very important here in a bit, though I'm not going to begin to tell you how. That would ruin the entire surprise. But as a person who had a family like Silas and Ian did, I can attest to the fact that once that perception of the perfect family breaks, you have a hard time accepting love from anyone.

    Chapter 5

I was trying to decide how to respond to this and then I realized that nearly anything I say would have an extreme chance of becoming a spoiler. I'm quite fond of the different perspectives that have arisen in regards to Silas here, and whether it makes you relate to him or not it certainly seems that everyone is getting into the story. I happen to agree with both you and Dr Paladin. I can relate to the reasons behind Silas reacting as he did, but I agree that it was extreme and unnecessary to treat Jenny like this. Of course, Silas had to have his flaws somewhere. Will he ever learn to trust anyone?

    Chapter 5

No wonder why we relate so well, James. I've been Silas too, and it IS awful once you crash.
