    The Apple

Oh, thank you, Jp. Your comments are poetry in and of themselves. The apple can surely be a feast. Many thanks!

    The Apple

They are possessed of some marvelous properties...but then, I find curves of many sorts to be sexy...thanks for reading!

    The Apple

You make me blush, my friend. Thank you!

    The Apple

Such simple, lovely and sensual pleasure is the original apple. Thank you!

    The Apple

Apples are far more sensual than they are given credit for, I think. Your comment points that out perfectly. A feast for tongue and taste and teeth, indeed. Thanks so much for reading this and responding to it!

    The Apple

The Apple The apple with the smoothest skin, such gentle colors blush therein, which curves with subtle, perfect form, it must inspire a man to sin. That beauty's proof against the storm, through chilly nights and days so warm as might excite the flesh beneath and appetites beyond the norm. Arouse that flesh, it will bequeath delight within its rosy sheath, it lingers on the palate's thought, a thrill to shake the soul and teeth. This fruit, forb
  7. I suppose one reads more into things when one writes than actually appears on the page. An writer’s hazard, I suppose. The right-hand strand sees something in the left...
  8. I will admit to fussing with the spacing and placement on the page for a long while. I thank you deeply for trying this very chewy offering. This duet between despair and belief played in my head for a long time. I am not sure if the subject and countersubject ever fully form complete harmony; that is for you to imagine. I am very grateful you came back to this.
  9. Thank you! I am glad the first made you smile, and that the second might have some currency. The tricky part will be sustaining a full idea through 12 syllables in the middle. It was for me, anyhow. Your generous comments make be blush.
  10. Very beautiful indeed. Your words are a cool draft of encouragement to those who thirst in a dark desert country.

    Chapter 9

An almost cinematic scene comes to mind reading this. It's spooky I can see literary archetypes in the images evoked. But the final lines will haunt me. Beautiful.

    Sentinel

You describe such golden autumn days, rare as fine amber, ever beautiful in memory. Their permanence there accentuates the changes you perceive, experience and record. I love the way you talk about having stepped out of the stream to observe it; yet the observer is always part of that stream, or so quantum physics tells us.

    Lesson #3

This was a compelling chapter. Like @Reader1810, I had to finish. I could not stop. There are lessons being taught, but also trust. And most of all, as you spell out at the last, encouragement. Thank you for sharing this chapter with everyone.
  14. You have answered the question: How Does Hell Restructure? with rapier sharp wit. I love it! And I can't wait to find out what's behind the door at which the Demon finds himself.

    Chapter 14

Here is a chapter with a ray of sunshine. As it is with a bleak afternoon, such a ray can warm the whole landscape. I hope Allen and Joey can be warmed by hope, and maybe discover love rather than pain. They've both had enough of that. Thank you for this chapter.
  16. Thank you, Gary. I am glad you thought the first flowed. Your reaction to the second interested me; I think what you say could be very true. But I wrote it because I have experienced the wonderful kindness of strangers here, and the reality of support. It can be very comforting. I appreciate your thoughtful response, and I am glad this form appealed to you.
  17. Thank you, Jp. I am glad these resonated with you. I was simply struck by driving out west and driving home in the east; the experience was so different. And as for the second, well, I think hugs of all kinds are good. Just had to say so...
  18. I think your observations on flying from east to west are quite accurate. I failed to see that. Of course, perhaps flying from east to west entails carrying some of those heavy, ponderous eastern miles along the way, making it slower. And for the second poem, I am an advocate for hugs in whatever form they might take. Thank you for your comments on these experiments in the the Skyscraper form! I am enjoying getting the feel for lines like these.
  19. I agree about hugs. I will take them in any form, from anyone. Thanks especially for yours. I’m glad you like these; perhaps a second round would be a good idea?
  20. Thank you, Dugh. These were fun to try, yet harder to sustain than I originally thought. I appreciate your generous comments.
  21. I remember, indeed I do. Thank you for the reminder...
  22. 1. East coast miles seem much longer than those I encountered traveling out west; perhaps western miles were created to fly past like hummingbirds or swallows at play, while east miles rest a while and ponder. 2. Sympathy sent from a long distance is a poor substitute for a hug, yet such is brotherhood's gravitational pull that even these ethereal arms embrace you, bless you, and offer love.
  23. I am sorry it left you disturbed; I fear it was a very hard poem to compose, and to read, too. There are times when I feel that emptiness, that sadness you speak of - Maybe everyone does. But that you thought this was written well helps to fill things...thank you for coming back to this.
  24. All powerful Death has every image at command. Your use of Ethan as Death’s image is shattering, and Caleb seems unable to stave off collapse. This would appear to be an end, yet something tells me a hidden wonder is waiting.
  25. Hope shines in the end, yet the dark still hurts and harms. You capture this well. The third stanza really got to me.
