It's nice to converse upon the sofa before the fire. And if the talk gets a bit warm, that's not always a bad thing, is it? Thank you very much for reading this, and for responding to it, without, erm, flaming it.
Numbers
sing in voices
consonant with my soul;
their clear-pitched trebles resonate
purely
off stones
laid deep in my mind's foundations,
creating harmonies
before my world
was born.
Thank you for reading these, and for your thoughtful and generous response.
October Morning
The slim rising moon,
fit consort for Orion,
cannot flee sunrise.
*
Early dawn sunlight
shines through golden foliage,
tinting the morning.
*
Deer feed in the mist,
stealing quick bites, tails flicking,
alert to the wind.
*
Luxuriant vines
turn from lime to bright lemon,
then drop their garments.
*
Brilliant deep blue skies,
crisp air carrying woodsmoke,
mark the season's change.
November Harvest
So Cody has laid himself open at Trick’s feet. And I doubt Trick would never kick someone like that, not even if it were justified. Yet each has reason to doubt the other, even as they yearn. How will they bridge that gap?
Thanks for your comments. I suppose weeping and lamentation must give way to action, and then those of us who weep now must march later, if only to support those who have died so needlessly.
How difficult a thing you did. It took incredible guts; I am in awe of you. This poem says so much about the man you are, and the abject soulless person who turned you out.
Photos, precious seconds, moments of perfect light or gap toothed smiles, remind us of the joy and peace we held, like water cupped in the hand. Beautifully told, beautifully spoken.
Again, such a meaty chapter. Talking with people you love about health decisions is huge and heavy. But CJ seems infinitely capable and able to handle that load. He even handles Ritchie with a deft touch. I wish I’d had a cool older brother like that! He connects well with Silas, though I disagree with CJ on the dog thing. Most of all, your final moment with Owen and CJ is perfectly drawn.
This is beautiful, tim. Images stirred and voices recalled - you bring them to the front of our minds, that we may always remember. You impelled us to the mountaintop, line by line, step by step. Bravo.
Can’t help wanting to give Geoff a gentle shake and a pep talk, but Tony seems to be far better at this than I ever could be. Lucky Geoff! Loved this chapter!
@northie Perhaps Adam knew something about cider; or maybe not. But the old apple tree beside my house had plenty of blushing inspiration this year. Thank you for reading, and for your astute observations.
