    Cut the Cake

I am very glad you liked this story. There is an actual solution involving some geometry, but then, it is probably entertaining to watch the fight over the leftovers. I am sure Jimmy will make Paul more cake, and more frosting.

    Cut the Cake

Can I say that you are the first to offer a perfect solution? You get one half of the cake! Thanks for reading the story, and getting hooked on the math problem, too!

Then while we wait for Drew, there's another piece of cake! And a bit if prosecco, too....thanks for reading this little story, and its taste of math.

I'm sure if you dropped by there'd be a spare slice for you! Glad you liked the story...and a taste of math.

    Cut the Cake

Just wait until the movie comes out...and I am glad you liked the story and the cake, too. I am sure the company would have been exhilarating. It is only geometry....;) I am so glad you enjoyed this.

    That's one approach...thanks for reading!

    Cut the Cake

Nuts, yes; raisins rarely. There is an answer that works for any placement of the missing piece...what makes me happiest is that so many have at least thought about this problem one way or another. Thank you so very much for reading and responding to this!

    Cut the Cake

Wonder how to commemorate the cake makers revenge...

    Cut the Cake

Actually, I had an uncle named Bob. But he couldn't have solved this problem. Thanks for reading the story and considering an actual response. Hope the tidbits of math didn't bring on nightmares.

    Cut the Cake

Glad the story satisfied, even if the cake or the math didn't. Thanks!

    Cut the Cake

Love your thinking. What a pity Jimmy made a more mundane, standard carrot cake.

    Cut the Cake

Well, there aren't any variables...just cake.

    Cut the Cake

No algebra is needed - just a bit of geometry. And this is kind of cutting a recipe in half...after it is out of the oven. Thanks for reading my word problem, and I hope it was amusing...

    Cut the Cake

It's fun question and no algebra is needed. But I'm glad you are coming, too!

    Cut the Cake

Love it. But the math is geometry, not algebra. Just saying. And I'm glad you're coming!

Thanks for reading, and for thinking about the problem. As for the actual cake, that leaves all the more frosting for me!
  17. My problem began when my boyfriend made me a cake. Okay, let me back up a second. It was my birthday, and Jimmy decided a celebration was in order. Normally, I try to avoid birthdays and things like that. Too much bother over yet another year past. But Jimmy is such a sweetheart, and really, I'm kind of new at the whole boyfriend thing, so when he trailed the hint in front of me, I didn't voice any objection. "What kind of cake do you like?" He queried. This was a normal question-

    Alone

I 'liked' this, even though it made me want to cry. For you are here, now, and doing great work in the world. But I wish with all my heart you did not have to hurt as you did.
  22. I very much enjoyed reading this story. As a hockey fan, it made me recall characters on the ice. As a denizen of modern society, it made me wince at some current behaviors. It is a wonderful tale.

  23. Thank you, AC, for your words of support and encouragement. You read my mind and hurt so well, I was left breathless for a moment. You speak to them who I addressed plainly; I did so more obliquely. The first of these was meant to taste of disappointment, and the second to contain the scent of hope. That they moved you makes me think that perhaps another set of eyes might agree with you. Again, thank you for reading these so well.

    2 - 5 - The Toll

Your depiction of Caleb's visions are priceless. Orpheus will undoubtedly tell us more, but I suspect there is merely disappointment and twisted fate remaining before Caleb. The vision of Ethan in the spell still haunts me.

They've been fluttering thru here, too. And even though the weather is hot now, it can change in an hour. Your poem is a perfect early autumn poem!
