  1. I’m very happy you read and liked them.
  2. Thanks so much for reading these. Some took a lot of reworking; their scratch outs and scribbles are barely legible in my notebook. Yes, they’re very personal, yet if they speak to someone else’s desire or experience, perhaps another poet will be born. Thanks again.
  3. The world needs poets; people who can reconnect us to feelings and senses and experiences. If these poems move you to write and share, then I am more than happy. Thanks so very much for reading and responding to this set.
  4. Thank you for taking time to read these. I’m glad you thought them delightful. They give voice to desires and memories which must wait forever the day we can all unmask.
  5. Thank you very much.
  6. I like your thought that our bodies speak with their own language; one that needs little translation between those who are well matched. Thanks for your response to this first set of dances.
  7. I’m so very happy you thought this was a good surprise. This form is addictive to write in. Thank you very much for reading!
  8. I’ll hope what follows meets with your approval. Altogether, there are six dances; perhaps when the last one posts, it may be possible to fold the masks and put them away. Thanks again so much for this form, which allows room for arc and freedom within its structure.
  9. Bouree I want him moving deep inside me; matching his pleasure to our heartbeats, whispering his desire, his lust, his urgent need; his lips and teeth claim me, skin and soul, while I await the joy of release. Spagnoletta I don’t know how to ask politely for what I want from another man, what etiquette dictates in such circumstances: do I dress
  10. This is a series of once and future dances, echoes and dreams from the long, discontented solitude enforced by the pandemic. I dedicate it to a man whose friendship and fire have burned constant through this everlasting night.
  11. This is a marvelous poem. It makes me feel as if I’m not alone.
  12. The title of this chapter No Going Back has me thinking about both Jake and Nic. It first seemed that the chapter name might be about Jake. After this experience, how could he go back to pretending with Meg or anyone else? His eye and mind and body have been increasingly captivated. And yet I wonder if this isn’t also about Nic - his current existence provides little comfort, and he must hide so much; with Jake, he commands, not because he’s masterful, but because deeper issues threaten to crack and break him in pieces. For Nic, there appears to be no retreat to a place in which he might allow Jake to know him and truly touch him.

    The story

I wonder if there are spud-smugglers from other countries; illicit spud cargoes intercepted on the high seas… this world could be very exciting as well as profitable.

    Friday

She left the bastard. Now if only the bastard will leave town. Or the country. Perhaps a little sojourn in St. Helena? Not that they want him there, either.
  15. A beautiful and tense evening! I’m not sure about mission accomplished until Yevgeny goes home. The Russian was obviously overconfident and had not done deep enough work on CJ and Owen. Yet, it makes me wonder if Domogarov was just a ploy, a cover for something even deeper. Moreover, I wonder if CJ is really willing to make good on his promise to the Russian. Great chapter!
  16. I agree it’s understated, but it’s also clear, transparent almost. Tonight, I find that appealing.

    Chapter 41

Cindy doesn’t realize just how wrong she is about, well, everything. The certainties she had steered by are not stars, but candles floating and guttering on a faint horizon. Neither her husband nor the principal truly support her; neither does scripture, for that matter. But a person so lost can still be immensely dangerous.

    Twenty-Seven

Liam came through quite a storm of confrontation in this chapter. Honesty with the ward staff was crucial; it made Britney’s attacks and bullying utterly ineffectual. There’s cheering here for Liam, and for the friendships that appear to be budding.

Northman again grabs the spotlight in his role of SAD (Supervising Asshole Diva). What he managed to prove yet again is that he can give other people indigestion, like some kind of virus, but not make anyone’s life better. He really needs to transfer to another branch of government (I’ll let other readers decide which). I enjoyed more time with Cesar and Brett (and their rumors of Oscar nominations) , and how wonderful to hear Austin got lucky! Thanks again for another entertaining chapter.
  20. For more than a generation, Robeson defined the sound of the American basso. How ironic it is that his homeland couldn’t reconcile itself to color of his skin.

    Gratitudes

Gracias, for the link to your poem, and for taking time to read this. I’m grateful it moved you to respond and comment.
  22. Thanks for sharing this beacon of light. It’s a ray of dawn against the dark.

Gotta hand it to Cesar and Brett for Including Infanta and Lupe. They will never forget that day. Keeping some focus on them keeps less camera on the gringos is good policy too. Also in this chapter, the episode with Northman must have given even that dense denizen of the embassy pause. If he’s still on CJ’s case, then the man really is too stupid for diplomacy.
  24. Here's a composer I knew nothing about until the other day. John Marsh - an English contemporary of Mozart and Haydn.

    Footprints

Your poem prompted me to think of footprints and what they tell me, and what my own reveal about myself. Thank you.
