CJ has the vocabulary to play golf: he can swear. On the other hand, maybe Oz will be able to razz the heck out of his husband for the oversized driver he’ll need.

I’ll join others in sympathy for Jurgen. I’ll wear my own astonishment that CJ would consent to go golfing. I’m sure he’d learn a passable game if he wanted to ( he excels at so many things). Or maybe he can caddy for Oz and keep up a stream of distracting comments on the fairway.

I read this and thought of you. Even though I’ve never heard your voice, I still listen to you. This is excellent.

    Part 5 - End

I really enjoyed this chapter. Ridley might actually begin to see himself in a newer, better light. Nice to see him not push Gabe away in the end.
  5. @AC Benus Even my phone with its tinny tiny speakers sounds magnificent!

    Twenty-Six

Liam seems doomed. No sooner does he feel just a tiny bit more comfortable than Britney drags him back into the darkness. One can only hope for her to crash and burn quickly.

    Return Match

I enjoyed watching Eric become less of a hermit and more human with Rob. His own warmth is increasing.
  8. Stephen Northman appears not to have that sense of diplomatic interpersonal understanding which would seem essential in his job. How and why is he with the State Department? Great chapter, underscoring why CJ is a great asset to the embassy and that Northman’s underestimate of our hero is likely to be a career ending error.

Oh, I like this! Layers of subtlety in these lines.

“You realize a paper cut’s a tree’s final act of revenge for getting chopped down, right?” To me, this is the best quote! I’m going to remember that one next time I’m hip deep in paperwork. This was a another fun chapter. You let us get to know Liebe a little more as a character, which, seeing as she’s growing into her personality, is excellent.

    A Quandary

For my part, I especially responded to a heart full of scattered affections. It’s exquisite. That particular phrase arrested my reading, and I had to start over and re-read.

Your friends helped you reconnect, perhaps. You have eloquently told what must have been a difficult story.

    A Pipe-Dream

I enjoyed this poem. Its images appeal to my senses in the smell of coffee, the taste and feel of the sea wind, and the silences of the woods. Thank you for these moments to remember.

These guys have the best trips. I suppose you had to do some on-the-scene research, too? You’ll make me plenty jealous. But while all this happy vacationing is going on, I can’t help wondering if Mr. Northman isn’t conniving and contriving a nasty surprise for his least favorite embassy staffer.
  15. An angel to top it all off. What a great story to cap this collection. Thank you!
  16. I kinda feel for the principal; the technology center is a big change to make mid year without planning for how it will fit into the current culture of the school. But he was being pretty difficult about it, nonetheless. CJ did just right to personalize the matter and make the man look at things differently. Northman is far more of an ass, and seems out to settle a score before the game is even played.
  17. Thanks again for another tale to warm my heart on a long winter night under the half moon. It was quite beautiful.

Thank you for another installment. Thanks also for plugging a favorite movie of mine. I would be interested in a full enumeration of CJ’s Commandments. You’ll have to post them someday.
  19. Thanks for a further snapshot of their lives. I enjoyed the rides!
  20. I had to actually wait 12 whole hours before I had a moment to read this. It was worth the anticipation. What a great story!
  21. Sadness and sweetness, shame and memory bound together in one place, in one missing man. You let us see it all, and consider the fractures mending while the boys discover the flavor of their dad. This was beautiful.
  22. It did, very much.
  23. I very much enjoyed this! Imagining Cindy Lou Who at 57 made be laugh.
  24. Thank you for another sweet Christmas treat. This was very lovely. I’m glad Rio and Mikel got a second chance.

    Alan's story

I agree with @Carlos Hazday that regrets are hard things to live with. Thank you for writing a tale of grace and hope.
