    Gratitudes

Poetry may prove theories of quantum mechanics better than particle accelerators. I’m glad you came along with me on these.

    Gratitudes

I am most grateful you took the time to read this, and fo your very encouraging comments. In the morning, I shall rise and look for my neighbor and his dog, glimpse the stars, and bake. And I shall smile. Again, many thanks.

    Gratitudes

Thank you so much for reading these and for commenting upon them. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays; full of joyful memories and scents and stories. Thanks again.

@Headstall The very first snow - the starter snow that chills the ground - disappears in short order because the grass is still too warm for it to stick. The big fat flakes that make me dance today will surely make me groan in March. Then, a hot shower after shoveling is essential, followed by toast made with fresh bread. Thanks a million for your comments and for reading.

Thank you. I sometimes encounter my colleague walking his dog in the early hours. Such is the source of inspiration. Thank you for taking time to read these.
  6. I. Celebrate with me the joy of friends, whose smiles can brighten the darkest day; their laughter echoes across endless distances unmuted by trifling age or time, unbound by convention or physics. II. I’m grateful for dogs before the dawn, full of life and new-dawned energy imparted by the stars and a bright crescent moon, eager for a fresh day’s lively scents, much too fascinating

    Twenty-Five

Liam’ mum is unquestionably more in need of psychiatric treatment than her son. Whatever pathologies he might have are entirely down to her. He may yet come to the conclusion that her wellspring of kindness (maternal or otherwise) ran dry before he was ever born. On the other hand, older, wiser and kinder heads may be able to help Liam see how he may yet be loved, even though, from their professional perspectives, they could not be the source of it. And so he will remain a sad, sober and isolated young man.
  9. It sounds like Will and Mitch and Boone and Coy will live out their days happily and as excellent neighbors. There will be plenty of love on their land. Thank you for this wonderful story.
  10. It’s amazing! Whose setting is it?

    The Void

The world is better for poems like this, and writers like you. Thank you.

    Chapter 1

I very much enjoyed this story. You kept me guessing, and then sped my heart rate right through their dramatic escape. Maybe Grant has learned something since he and Nat parted ways?
  13. I was moved reading this. This is a beautiful and touching story.

    Chapter 1

This is such a chilling story. What did the man with butterscotch hair do so wrong, really? He never got to say anything in his defense before he was killed. Well done.
  15. Since writing these, the leaves have completely carpeted the trail, leaving only the occasional marker nailed to a tree to show the way. Yet it’s still good to scuff those deep drifts as I climb the hill. You’re quite right, too: the trail is a great boon to my spirit and as inspiration.
  16. I have no photographic talents, or at least none that would do these observations justice. Thank you for stopping at random spots along the trail with me.

    Twenty-Four

So what is Liam going to do? Ed isn’t going to appear, it seems, and neither is Mark. Good Samaritans seem in short supply in Liam’s life, and he needs someone who can help him see the world as less threatening than it appears to him now. Otherwise, he’s likely to waste away.
  18. Nicht zu glauben! Ich habe jede verrückte Sekunde genossen. Vielen dank.

    Waiting Game

Oliver is a raging ogre, a travesty. How did she and that man manage to produce such a lovely man as Adam? It’s fun to watch Andy get a bit nervous as their big day nears. And Eric getting his own nerve up is even better.
  20. Thank you for these kind and encouraging words. My time in the woods and field is indeed precious - there’s so much to see and take in. Now winter is soon to arrive, making over the forest floor until spring warms the ground again. Until then, I shall have to watch the chickadees and squirrels.
  21. You’re most kind. I’m very glad these allowed you to see and sense what I encountered. Thank you very much for reading.

    Thanks for writing this.

    The Winding Road

I can hear your footfalls in the woods, and your private laughter. This poem is a joy.
  24. Losing a best friend is like watching a whole island just slip into the sea; it’s as if a star in the sky simply disappears, and there’s nothing to steer by. You captured that intense hurt too well in this.
  25. Thanks very much for your encouraging words - and for selecting a favorite. Sycamore trees have become great favorites, not least for their enormous leaves, which now lie scattered on the grounds.
