I enjoyed the night out, as well as the morning after! Joel may have to wait in line to get his chance to meet Chipper. And what a way to be rudely awakened during the hangover-bus-ride! I wonder what inconvenience might happen to Fred at some point in the not-too-distant future?

I cannot thank you enough for this. I so very much identify with Bertie. His fears and difficulties hit very close to home. You’ve written something sweet and hopeful, and encouraging too. I will be coming back to this over and again.

You have been wonderfully kind and supportive in helping me learn. Skyscrapers are a fantastic gift, and the trios written for the summer months, and for feeling real, and for love all are the fruit of the tree you planted. It makes me smile to know you have enjoyed the comfort and shade of that tree, too. The 10-8 ballad form is slowly getting under my skin, and I’m looking forward to working further with it. Again, many thanks.

I’m very happy April 11 got to you. It was one of those poems that grew so fast out of a single line that I hardly had time to scribble the words. Thanks very much for reading and for your comments.

Shy July was the phrase that inspired that trio on the months. I’m very happy those three appealed to you. If the old age prompt came off well, then I can be satisfied. In my own mind, I wasn’t entirely convinced. Thank you for your very kind words and for providing the prompts.

Thank you. Hugs back.

You’re most welcome. It’s heartening to know you enjoyed them.

I’m glad there were consonant harmonic echoes for you in at least a few of these. I’m looking forward to those summer months, coming soon. Their characters seemed right to me in spring; I hope they will still be as sunny in disposition when those days arrive. And I hope that someday, I can be truly real.

You’re very nice to say that. Thanks for reading these!

April 9 Cheerful June wears a bright green tee shirt speckled with garden dirt and grass stains, and clutches peonies and rocket in one hand, humming an old tune from way back when, but keeping an eye out for rainstorms. Shy July turns her face from autumn, unable to face the light’s retreat, but flushed and heated, denies all the evidence the burgeoning garden can provide, believing only the

There’s so much to like in this installment! Number 8 bites down hard like a carnivore at bay; I loved number 9’s contrasting characterization of May, and number 11’s awesome array of curtains. 12 and 13 paint captivating pictures for me; 12 especially brought me into the room and let me feel as you felt. 14 took me back to wild places I’ve gone, and number 15 was a model of concise and concentrated writing. And number 10? I loved that sonnet on the wind. It may be my favorite of this group. Although I may change my mind when I read these again .

@AC Benus Perfect for the onrush of green and growth! Indeed, what a delight it would be to retreat to a pastoral cabin with one's swain.

Nice to see that visit from CJ and Owen’s perspective. I could use some of that Cancun sunshine right about now.

Joker broke my heart to read. April 2 also brought up a whole melancholy story in my head. Forsythia shaking off snow is so appropriate for this season. These are wonderful additions to the April collection.

I loved your first week. I was especially taken by the hat you saw flying, and it’s owner on a date. I also liked Franz with the capable hands. That phrase will stick with me all day.

Parker Owens commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in April 1 - April 8, 2022
Recent events and news led me to writing April 6. There are days when I have had to shut out the news, as it makes me so very sad, or so very angry, or both. April 2 is a reflection on space and the betweenness concept I teach in classes these days. Sometimes, it seems that work is a refuge from reality. But then, so are the quiet hours before dawn. Thank you for being there with me in all of them. -

Parker Owens commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in April 1 - April 8, 2022
The skyscrapers seem to juxtapose well with the 8-10 ballads. It’s tempting just to write in those forms only, yet other possibilities beckoned. You’re really kind to discern the watchfulness and transition in these. Most of all, I’m grateful you read them. -
I do so enjoy reading about Eric. I could surely use his advice about my garden. The prospect of an interview in which Tyler apologizes for vandalizing his property must unsettle Eric considerably. I know it would make me nervous. I look forward to watching Eric choose a wedding present for Adam and Andy!

Oh, man. Northman should put in for a transfer before his blood pressure skyrockets. He should never have tangled with CJ. This chapter developed CJ’s professional and political contacts very nicely. I’ll be looking for connections to this chapter down the road.

April 1 Late March glooms with penitential snow, neither unseasonal nor unknown, as if the earth could cover itself in sackcloth and shiver in its contemplation of trusting its future to mankind. Stray snowflakes wander without purpose separate from the central flurry, and float across the field on the wind’s unseen breath with no inclination to hasten their desultory descent to my tongue.

An offering of poems for National Poetry Writing Month; April 2022. Some were composed in response to prompts provided to me, others not.

I really like how you connect the feelings of dawn, the anticipation of light, the sensations of the forest, and the promise of light and warmth. This is lovely.

Poor Peter. He got off on the wrong foot with CJ, and I fear the name calling will never end. God help the poor senator or bureaucrat who does the same one day in the not wholly distant future. It was nice to see Chipper and Oz give CJ doses of his own medicine; I wonder if it takes two of them to get to CJ. And getting tickets for Northman? Now that would be more than an olive branch. It would be more like the whole tree.

This took my breath away, I was laughing so much. Oh, my.

This is an excellent birthday poem. That you are alive is as important a fact of the universe as any galaxy. I liked this very much.
