Kaz is a big part of Andy's progress. The big man has helped him find confidence in himself, while supporting his love for Zander. Andy's winning the race must be nearly as sweet for Kaz as it is for Andy. Both boys are nervous for many reasons. Yet they made promises to each other, and they are showing how right their love is. Andy has been flying blind for much of the past year. His fears for a future in which he might develop into the beast he knew as his father are understandable. It was wonderful to write about Andy being welcomed into the family by Zander's nonna with open arms. -
In this chapter, Andy gets to comfort Zander - it has been the other way around for months. It shows how much Zander has become attached to Andy, even while Andy shows his maturity. Many thanks for your comments and for reading.

Eustace was too good a character, and too much fun to write to let go of. I was glad of his return too. Though Andy has a long way to go, he is also far better off than he was when he limped out of Carlsberg.

Gunnar was a terrible man; his brother Ray is even worse. Ambrose seemed to sense he had made an error in judging Andy; perhaps it was a conversation with the people in Carlsberg or with Alan Walker that convinced him. At least there can be some reconciliation now. -

Ambrose could not help his innate curiosity. Andy's disappearance must have made him crazy. As you say, Ambrose managed to settle many questions, though others remain. For the moment, it's enough that Andy has extended family, and that Eustace harbors him no ill-will. Every step he took away from Carlsberg led him to this moment. I am glad this chapter brought a smile to you. Andy tragically believed his father that his mother had abandoned him. Knowing his father as he did, Andy can certainly believe the man killed his mother. Having some family will give Andy some rootedness, even as he grows into being himself. -
The appearance of a man long thought to have forgotten about Andy is a terrible surprise. Hill he prevent Andy's promise from being fulfilled?

Emancipation didn't sound anywhere near as appealing as marriage to Andy. Circumventing Mrs. Chandler and FPS was just part of the triumph; cementing his place with Zander and the Stevensons was at least as important. Phyllis Chandler wouldn't have believed you even if you had read it to her from the pages of her favorite newspaper.

I'm glad you liked that scene. Not only did Bruce get his hide nailed, it was done by a petite girl who is completely unassailable. And I definitely wouldn't want to make Kaz mad.

That it was a lame case doesn't seem to have deterred Mrs. Chandler from bringing it. If she'd gotten a different judge - or if the case is appealed to a more sympathetic court - she might at least get the whole question badly tangled while tormenting the Stevensons. Andy's attorney was at least as effective as Terry at silencing the bigots - for now.

He didn't run, even though he was terribly anxious about the situation. Justice was indeed served, as Mrs. Chandler was made the subject of a concise and thorough judicial dissection and execution. If she isn't stung, she has no nerves.

Andy's excuse for a father would never have called CPS in a thousand years. Apart from anything else, doing so would have exposed years of neglect and abuse at his father's hands. It was easier to look the other way. -

CPS and Mrs. Chandler descend on the Stevenson household, and set everyone's teeth on edge. Andy's anxiety meter must have gone through the roof. Garrett is confident that CPS will be defeated, but Andy cannot feel that same confidence, as he hasn't experienced any success in the legal system. -
And in a small town like Eagle Lake, truth can surface quicker than it takes your eye to flicker. Perhaps there are fewer haters than Rick suspects. That's the problem: finding out whether things really are as bad as you thought they might be. As to Senior and Rita, their truths are even more apt to come to the surface. Magda and Zoltan discovered, cared for and trained Gus. They are his mangers and agents, and have developed his career and reputation meticulously over time. They exerted quite a lot of power and influence over his decisions and career choices,and continue to do so. He has put up with it so far, but he chafes at it, as he has said earlier. You're right to notice that. Mrs. Lee accepts Rick and cares for him as an old friend and good neighbor. He is still digesting the fact she knows his secret, but he also knows her kindness and support are unwavering. Thank you for reading, and for your thoughts, especially about Gus.

As long as Gus is nearby, Rick will remain blissfully, cheerfully happy. You're quite right - Rick isn't going to call Walter back, now that he's headed over to see Gus. I'll have to see if there's a new bulletin with Rita Warnings out yet... thanks for reading!

There are too many signals flashing, too many straws in the wind, for them to pass unnoticed. Rick senses something untoward is up, but is unsure. The tremors running through the small town indicate some kind of seismic shift is in the works. You've counted a number of worrying items, from phone messages to whatever Heinrich Senior is up to. However, Gus is much more diverting, much more interesting, than any worrying Rick might do. Thank you very much for reading, and for your observations.

Something is definitely up, but apart from Irene's sudden departure, Rick has no idea what's going on. It doesn't help that the day has been terribly busy. At the end of the day, he chucked the chance to do some investigating for the opportunity to stargaze with Gus. Then again, Rick would forego quite a lot to spend time with Gus. Rick's repeated rebuffs and denials haven't done much to slow the gossip mill; I think you're right that a hand grenade might be the only thing that would do the trick. Many thanks for reading!

Rick has had a trying day with the various demands on his professional attention. Gus at the end of the dock under the stars is a perfect antidote, letting him forget about the odd messages on his phone and the need to have hard conversations with his father and Rita. At the same time, he has been getting used to the idea that Caroline Lee knows his secret. Thanks very much for reading and for your observations.
