  1. This is so vivid, you have me there with you, at your side. I can feel your relief and an care. It's lovely.
  2. Oh, how I love Guaraldi’s touch on the keyboard!

Your poem makes me feel the need to search, to know what Whitman called The Unknown Region. Its final question seems unknowable.

I just want to thank you for saying so succinctly what Scott has done, and what it must mean. I appreciated your response very much.

I don’t understand it either. It was indeed a terrible thing to do. I expect the guard will have a horrible Monday, though.

Gus could make life very uncomfortable for several people, security guard, hospital administration, and ICE. He’s probably just as glad the unhappy episode is over, and right now, all he wants is Rick and rest.

That you keep little Eagle Lake on your mind makes me very happy. Who knew its doings and characters would become so widely known outside its town limits?

Zoltan doesn’t believe it to be slavery, rather more something like repayment with interest. Gus’ frenetic pace reflects both his enormous talent, and Zoltan’s success at marketing it.

Pushed to the limits of his patience by one thing after another, Rick finally let Heinrich Senior know where the Rita train stops. Not the fiery eruption some might expect, but vehement and emphatic enough to make the point. Good thing they never replaced the old phone at the shop - those ancient models can still stand a beating. The School Board meeting looms at the end of what has been a dreadful day. Rick will need help and inspiration. Thanks for your comments and suggestions.

For Rita, College Hill must have been an immense temptation, a gleaming prize. It is a gold mine of real estate investment, and one that might pay off extremely well for a canny developer. Rick must now have his heart torn in two directions - toward Gus, and toward saving College Hill. Thanks for your thoughts and for reading.

Indeed, is there a way out for not one, but two? And so many lines of melody are playing at once, it’s hard to know which will take the dominant role. Thanks for your thoughts and for continuing to read the story.

You spoil me entirely with your kind and encouraging words. This chapter sets a seal on the relationship between Gus and Rick. They are written on each other’s hearts, and find new delight in each other’s lives. It was enchanting to write, and I’m glad you found it similarly happy to read. Thank you.

Explaining indeed. And Dr. Nesbitt is surely going to raise an unholy stink with the hospital administration, which will mean headaches for a number of people - not the least of whom will be a soon to be ex-security guard. Thanks again for reading and commenting!

I salute you, my friend. I hope I reach 89 as hale and hearty as you. And, may I add, kind. Your comments have been unfailingly engaging and interesting. Thank you.

Indeed they are quite interested in Gus getting back to performance as soon as possible. He’s not the only performer they manage, but he is their biggest star.

    Intermezzo

I’m an amateur singer and a justifiably neglected composer. It’s fun to try and match a musical term to a chapter. Some titles work better than others. Thanks for joining me in the fun!

And by finding that control, Scott has found perhaps his true self: a man who can love, as well as desire. Thanks very much for stating so well the evolution that has taken place in Scott.

I loved your moniker for Zoltan ("Slimeyballs"). That's awesome. Zoltan indeed sees Gus as his property, or at least as his creature. Perhaps Rick's outburst with Heinrich will continue his growth into someone more adequately assertive. Then again, Rick isn't likely to change overnight. Not completely. Many thanks for your always kind thoughts and for your comments. Thank you for reading!

I wonder if it will become a standard procedure in all weather forecasting.

I like the notion of a dedicated Power Ranger to take Zoltan down a peg or two. His words to Rick unquestionably hurt, as they were probably meant to. In the meantime, Gus is incommunicado. Worst of all, this horrible day isn't over. There's a School Board meeting coming up! Thanks for reading, and for your thoughts.

    Ritornello

Rick is nothing if not resilient. He has learned this from long years of passive resistance to his father. He hoped to do the same with Rita; but Willy may rattle him considerably. Gus is already doing conditioning exercises and as much work as he can do to retain his agility and strength. In your concern, you sound a lot like his manager, Zoltan. Many thanks for your comments and thoughts.

    Andante

You are entirely right to be wary of Rita and Senior. If it were possible, Rick would give them both a wide berth.
  25. Poor Rita - Rick was perfectly happy to see her out of her element and put her on the wrong foot. Unfortunately, it seems that when she is in doubt, she drinks. But nothing really seemed to dent Senior's enthusiasm. Many thanks for your observations!
