I had to grin at your comments about Zoltan in comparison to Heinrich. Perhaps there are more members in Senior’s fan club than Zoltan’s after all. In little Eagle Lake, it’s no surprise that Rick would have been called to a lawyer’s house. After all, he’s been in nearly every basement in town. While it was high time for Rick to tell Heinrich Senior off, he hardly got to enjoy doing so. He has too much else pressing in on his mind to take much satisfaction in having made himself crystal clear. Thanks for your comments and thoughts, and for reading!

Rick has indeed experienced a horrible day, and it’s not over yet. Zoltan dealt him the worst injuries, but a flooded basement was just an added insult. No wonder Rick had no patience for Heinrich. He’s had no tIme to think about how to get in touch with Gus, or how to help Walter at the School Board meeting coming up. It’s very sad to think of Gus, wondering why Rick doesn’t call. I suspect it wouldn’t be the first time something along those lines might have occurred. Thanks for your excellent comments and for reading!

Thank you for the typo alert. How did I miss it? Scott and Graham may fall for one another, but as you say, it may not be sufficient. Perhaps Scott will find a way to be convincingly authentic. Or maybe not - it’s a tall order for him, after all. I’m very, very grateful for these excellent and thoughtful comments.

Wally has realized the importance of friends, perhaps belatedly. Our predator has slowly acquired a heart. It’s not a sudden thing, but it has happened slowly. Perhaps Matt and Lee or Javier and Oscar had something to do with it.

And so the very long road to healing can begin. There will be bonds to restore, the dead to mourn, and a pack to grow and renew. What will become of this new family? Who knows? Maybe the heady scent of jambalaya may attract new wolves. Great chapter in bringing loose ends to their knots.

Graham and Wally seem to have bonded over those manga. At least, Wally seems to have made a couple of friends. Meanwhile, there is always some kind of work to be done. Thanks for reading and commenting.

What a reunion! My sympathies to Ethan in the big city. To say that he is anxious is a huge understatement. You describe that very very well. Kissing Jonathan was beautiful, but one wonders what Ethan will tell himself about it. Great chapter.

This chapter helps us get to know Ethan on a much deeper level, while through him we observe an endless journey across the prairie. It was great reading.

In Arizona, Trudy appears to have more of the upper hand and an independent existence. She golfs and had her own set of friends. Even in Eagle Lake, she’s got her own network. When she married Heinrich Senior, Trudy already had her own family. Combining households gave both adults a rosier financial outlook. However, Heinrich certainly seems to have brought a lot of baggage into the marriage, as you say. Thanks very much for your thoughts!

I’m glad you could feel the cool of the woods and enjoy what Rick felt and Gus heard. The whole group appeared to have a wonderful time. Marta has much more interest how things work than in performance. I agree that Zoltan and Magda would take an exceedingly dim view of her choosing to work as a plumber. At least, until they need a new furnace or water heater. Thanks so much for reading!

The very idea of a canoe on a classic Mercedes is so outre as to be amusing, though I agree it cannot be taken seriously. Caroline is plain and down to earth. She’s also very fond of Rick. Two good reasons to like her! I hadn’t made that Big Bang Theory connection with Rita, but it fits. Watch out for flying candy. Thanks again for your comments!

Thanks for reading and responding. I’m glad you got me on that detail. In my state, we got state history several times, 4th, 7th and 11th grades. Of course, I drew on my own experience. I figured there would be a middle school local history unit. Well, now I’ll have to rethink that bit of dialogue.

Rita could sell anything, to anyone. Give her credit, she’s a very good at sales.

Heinrich Senior still owns the business; his son Rick does the work in the expectation that he’ll inherit one day. He hasn’t left because if he did, he’d walk away with very little, and have to start over - not at all an easy thing to do. Modernization hasn’t crossed the old man’s mind, as he hates to spend a penny. Rick has campaigned for a new van for years to no avail.

If demonstrating trustworthiness is a gauge, Wally passed the test this time. It may be that he needs more such trials until he earns that trust fully. He felt the ache of what he missed by seeing Michael and Trey. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Heinrich Senior is like a dose of vinegar. His son bears it because of the distance and because, well, the old man is family. He’s thought about getting out, but doesn’t: old ties keep him there. I appreciate your comments.

Alas, Willy did not wind up in a hovel. He discarded Rick, and moved on, passing like a summer thunderstorm. But the effects on Rick have been far more long lasting, like flood damage or the altered course of a stream. Thanks so much for your comments!
