    i read this and it brought memories of my own mum. She passed twenty-six years ago. Her birthday was Feb 14th. It's a day i spend quietly normally. This year though, she came to my mind later that usual. It rather surprised me that i'd sort of forgotten. i'm sorry for your loss. It's hard. I was fifteen when my mum passed. I guess time does soften the pain. Thank you for sharing your experience and your memories.

    it's very nice this cake.. i think Dan put in the zest of a full orange because we didn't make the glaze.. so it's very orangey. The dates were iranian ones.. lovely dates.. i get the ones with pits and remove them myself because they are usually nicer.. don't forget to dredge them with flour. but it's such nice cake.

    no.. i used white and whole wheat flour .. and 1/2 reg sugar and the rest was splenda brown.. i used pecans. They came out beautifully..

    i have a cheaper one which is falling apart.. but i love all the extra attachments with this one.. i was looking for a replacement bread pan for our hamilton beach bread maker ... and saw that.. i guess i moaned out loud and Michael said.. what? i told Him and He said, buy it. yours is dying and that one looks more useful. i can't wait to try it out. You're right about cleaning them.. it's so fast. And you can use them to make skim milk into thick froth if it's cold enough. That's fun. LOL

It will actually help me as my poor hands seem to be rather worse for wear these days... and now i'll be able to do things with less wear and tear on them. Happy boy ...i have coveted this tool for many years! if i was able to do back flips.. well i am in my mind.. woohoo!

    The wind is howling out there, it's 26f, feels like 2f or -3C feels like -16C. Whatever your preference it's fecking cold. Had french toast for brekkie today which was a nice Sunday treat. We were supposed to go for a walk but we decided ... mmmm.. no. LOL Hope everyone has a warm and cozy day.

    My mum and father in law died of cancer. It's hard. i hope the person you know is in good hands and getting the best care, if they are in treatment. i know people here have had it and beat it. Please reach out if you want a private word or say what you feel right here, or not, as well. Whatever you decide, know you are loved and in our hearts and minds. xoxo
