  1. Ain't this the truth.... Fix something... have a good Tuesday!
  2. Happy Monday and i hope it's a good week:
  3. It's also cute if you speed it up.. haha
  4. i've been walking more and also doing squats. I blame this on @Wayne Gray But it feels good and why waste the non-winter we're having in Toronto. It's good to get outside everyday. i hope your friends can continue with their sobriety. The most important thing is to do something, even if you cannot do your full walk. Keep positive.

    Writing Comedy

Real life has funny moments. There should be some in our fiction too. I love adding some fun to serious stories, it's part of life. Imagine life without some laughter, no thanks. I've written few comedies and they have serious moments. I think you have to have balance to portray life. Another good topic! Thank you.
  6. Here's a very interesting article about bathing and blue spaces... https://aeon.co/essays/bathing-should-be-a-right-in-21st-century-cities
  7. i know what you mean.. we had a week of fog so thick you couldn't see across the road.. it was cool for a bit but then became oppressive. Hang in there, soon we'll be here complaining about the heat, Kitt. LOL
  8. From His Holiness the Dalai Lama: Everyone have a good Friday... there is sun out now.. i'm going out to stand in it. Have a good day.
  9. After a mild panic-attack, yes it was fine. This time it was a molar on the upper left and i guess there's not a lot of room for the 8 injections of anesthetic so lots of it runs down your throat. That causes your tongue and throat to stop feeling anything and i found i couldn't breathe or swallow. Kinda freaked me out. After a few minutes and drinking water, it started to feel better. I wish they'd tell you these things may happen so i don't need to have a melt down right there. The assistant and the Doc were nice and helped me calm down but a word to the wise would have been useful. Anyway, i'm okay, eating soft stuff for a few days. Still on antibiotics and feel sort of meh but i'm doing fine. Thanks for asking.
  10. So, off to the dentist for another extraction ... this one has been coming for a long time. It's the 2nd time in 2.5 years it's been infected and it just is useless. Can't chew on it so, it will be more comfortable in the long run to get rid of it. Hate it though.. anyway, have a good day!!
  11. It's been mild here as well. It was like spring yesterday, and it was sunny. We went out for a walk and it was very pleasant. Hope you all have a happy Tuesday. i offer some advice from a favourite Stoic philosopher...
  12. erm, happy Monday, if there is such a thing ... however, 'the Sun' is not a thing for most of the Canadian winter and in other countries either. i think i saw the sun briefly for ten minutes the other afternoon before it got dark at 5:24pm. That said, i just checked and we may see some sun today.. woohoo!!

    Loose Ends

I really like your bookend idea to ensure all loose ends are tied up satisfactorily. Unfortunately, it has become common for plots to have giant holes and loose ends, especially in television and film writing. It's disappointing to watch something only to be left with more questions than answers at the end. However, there are ways to avoid this situation. Good planning, taking notes, having enough time, and a good editor can help. Once the first version of the story is complete, I personally think it's best to put it away for three to six months or more. This allows you to look at it with fresh eyes, question yourself, and wonder about the timeline or whether you followed up on something in a later chapter. A good editor is also essential. They will read the story and ask the hard questions. They will tell you what needs to be fixed, what was mentioned earlier but never resolved, and what doesn't work. Returning to fix things is challenging and not always simple, but it's necessary if you care about your work and your readers. Trust me, the effort is worth it. Thank you for another excellent and thought-provoking topic.
  14. Hi everyone, This is very true. You need to know how to make the most of your time off. Don't get me wrong; just sitting and staring out the window with your thoughts is a thing, but not all the time, every day. Do something to keep your mind and body busy. Make sure you look after yourself, eat well, and sleep. Dan and i have made this a couple of times now. We have it for lunch and every day it just gets better. We can't find the tomatoes and we use a larger size since that's what we have and it comes out great. Also use more ginger than noted as our is in the freezer and it does mellow the flavours of ginger and garlic. Also if you rather not use kale, use mature spinach, not the baby as it will hold up better if you have it around for three days like we do. https://www.budgetbytes.com/smoky-potato-chickpea-stew/ Enjoy your day no matter what you're doing. Take care.
  15. Did you 'lose' it and find it in your backyard? Very cute!!
  16. 'K. Not in the best of moods atm. The minutiae of life can fecking do one. But in case some of you are having to deal with but not limited to: another headache, teeth, tinnitus, wrong deliveries, updating wills, sorting out online access for another bank and other such f'g crap, here and Happy Monday:
  17. Making: Smokey Potato and Chickpea Stew, and Oatmeal Raisin cookies (no flour) today. Yesterday was lazy cabbage rolls.
  18. You should and prompts are a good way to begin. I wrote the opening chapters for two of my longer stories, Changes and The Searcher as prompts, they were not posted but i save everything. One day while looking through the archives, the stories were ready to write. So make notes, write things in your spare time. Just go for it!
  19. haha, i am ... i'm easily pleased!
  20. Thank you. I believe you. It's me I struggle with, but words still seem to need to come out. I'm grateful there are people like you who choose to read them.
  21. Hi Gary and thank you for reading this. I try my best to write things off the beaten path. I think that's what I enjoy most about short stories and vignettes: the chance to write about many different topics. Also, I have a short attention span!! Seriously though, thank you for reading these little tidbits. I am grateful.
