Well, i hope most of you got through the commercial horror that is Valentine's Day without too many scars or emotional damage. i only needed a trip to the shrink and valium.
In the afternoon, Michael sent me to the kitchen to do stuff. He knows that if i'm in there, i'm busy and my mind is not dwelling on well ... my mother and my past. i ended up making a pot of soup and a double batch of curry and a sweet treat for us. So that's some lunches, and a couple of dinners done.
I remember when i was a kid, Valentine's Day was some little cards and making something for your mom. Not spending your savings to keep her happy or your partner happy, as an adult. Now, it sounds like a day where you better had, where you better prove with all your savings, how much you love them.
It used to be a sweet kind of day, but now for many it is another day of greed, or a reminder of what you do not have. i don't need proof or gifts ... my Husband is my gift, and i don't need a huge expensive show from Him. He shows me everyday what is in His heart. He gave me a card and i made us a brownie.
As it should be.
