Although I'm not one, I'd imagine it to be the same as writing any other story with characters who find ways to connect and bring out each other's strengths and weaknesses. 'Cause after all, what's more beautiful than opening up to someone and trusting them with your heart? So yeah, I'd focus on that. The television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer's portrayal of non-platonic love between two women was really good, IMO. The characters Willow and Tara were brought together by their interest in magic only to realize that it's not just that one thing they have in common. Tara is a very reserved, very introverted character and with Willow it's like she's a different person. Not because she changes her, but because she can actually be herself around her. Ah, the good ol' days... Good luck with your story, Tiger.
