  1. A list of shows and films I've watched lately: Joyride (2022), starring Olivia Colman Penguin Bloom (2020) Sweet Tooth (2021 - ongoing) Young Royals (2021 - ongoing) Lyle, Lyle Crocodile (2022) Billy Elliot (2000) My son, Max, has been choosing most of the TV these days. Well, except for Young Royals. Morgan and I watch that after Max goes to bed, since it's too mature for an 11-year-old.
  2. Yeah, it was fun! Sascha has another month or two before he has to go back to France, so I'm hoping we'll see more of him before he leaves. He also said that our marshmallows burn too easily. Like many American foods, the manufacturers put too much sugar in them.
  3. Hopefully it doesn't become a bigger problem. 🤞
  4. The neighbors invited us over for a bonfire with hot dogs and marshmallows. To my surprise, one of the lads used to be friends with my brother. I decided not to hold it against him, and we accepted the invitation. The family is also hosting a foreign exchange student from France, a cute guy named Sascha, about 17 or 18 years old. Apparently, he's from Senlis. He doesn't care for the Hershey's chocolate, but he says the hot dogs are good, and he couldn't get enough of Reese's Cups, which was pretty cute to watch. I was a bit nervous, because Sascha kept eating marshmallows directly off the stick, with a hot piece of metal inches away from his face. Max seems to have taken a liking to Sascha, and he wanted to eat marshmallows off the poker, too. Sascha said, "Don't burn your face.", and stopped after that. When he asked Max about his hobbies, Sascha said, "Ah, a Danseur! As-tu appris le pas de deux?" Max replied, "Non, pas encore." There was a funny moment where Sascha was holding his hand in front of the fire, and the other boys were saying, "Wait, where's your phone? Did you drop it? Oh! This whole time, I thought you were holding your phone!" Sascha enjoyed the heat from the bonfire, except on his eyes, so he was trying to shield his face from the flames!
  5. I haven't seen Center Stage yet, but I've heard it's very good. I'll have to review it, and Max can watch it when he's older. Like, 25 or so.
  6. Hey, Terry! I didn't bother trying to get a word in with all of the craziness going on last night. Instead, I baked some frosted maple cookies with pecans and white chocolate chips. Then I did some reading offline. After the cookies were frosted, Morgan, Max and I watched Billy Elliot. And yes, I know it's rated R, but Max received a warning that there would be "consequences" if he ever used any of the salty words in the film. The film rating board can be strange at times.
  7. Wow! Harris J looks cute with a bit of stubble on his face!
  8. I draw the line at snails.
  9. I've had fig pudding before, and I agree. Some recipes should stay buried in the past.
  10. Yeah, I'm good now. Just trying to not look at the 9-ring circus of American politics on TV. Good night, Drew!
  11. You should take a break and go to bed. The list can wait until morning.
  12. Sounds tasty, but I try to use basil very sparingly, as it can easily overwhelm a dish. Max has been asking me to make some kind of salty oatmeal with poached egg and mushrooms that he found a recipe for. My kid is definitely more adventurous than me when it comes to food! I'd happily eat a hamburger every day of the week, if there was a variety of toppings/preparations to choose from.
  13. Sounds good! Have you seen Guga's channel on YouTube? He cooked a burger from Wagyu beef, which he said nearly killed him to make. Otherwise, it was incredibly delicious! We tease you because we love you, bro. But, yes, lately I have refrained from teasing as much as I did in the past. I've been experiencing some emotional issues, and it's made me aware that I should be more sensitive to others.
  14. @raven1 Hey, Terry! How are you and Aod? And why would you give me that kind of power? I'm not ready!
  15. I still find that hard to believe.
  16. You don't sound very convincing. 🤔 Maybe we should ask Mama Espinosa.
  17. Are there any home videos? I bet you were a good singer. I made blueberry streusel muffins this morning.
  18. We had a brief sun shower here. It put me in a sort of nostalgic mood, so I think I'll go do some writing.
  19. Not even Louboutins? Like a certain ice skater?
  20. I remember reading The Goldfinch, by Donna Tart, before I watched the film version. The MC, Theo, and his friend, Boris, lived in a new suburb outside of Las Vegas. The community was so far outside of town that there were very few amenities or services, apart from the bare necessities of water and electricity. As a result, most of the houses were abandoned while still under construction. I know The Goldfinch is a work of fiction, but the idea must have some basis in truth, right? My thoughts, when I read the passage about the abandoned construction, were "Are there actually places like that near Las Vegas?" 🤷‍♂️
  21. After you abdicate your position as God-Emperor of Texas.
  22. We had hot dogs and Bavarian potato salad.
  23. If being gay had any impact on the weather, I would have sent a hurricane to Ron's house already.
