Just got back from the supermarket. On the way out of the store, we spotted a kid sitting on a bench next to the door. He was wearing a Burger King uniform, though the hat had been exchanged for a yarmulke. There's a BK restaurant near the market, so I figured he must have just got off work, but the combination was so strange I had to laugh. He had very long, dark curly hair, and I recognized him as the older brother of one of Max's ballet buddies. Remember, a while back, I mentioned someone tried to bully Max at school, but was shut down by an older student? He was the one who stopped the bully.

It's Mother's Day, so we're going over to my in-laws' house for brunch. I helped Max put some flowers together in a bouquet for "Grandma".

Something that I learned from the book I just finished reading: the universe tastes of raspberries. Scientists discovered a cloud of gas near the center of the Milky Way Galaxy, which was found to be made up of ethyl formate. This compound is responsible for the flavor in raspberries.

Dessert and a movie? Always a good way to pass the time when you can't sleep at night. Though, of course, it goes without saying that it shouldn't become a regular habit.

Yesterday was National Teacher's Day, so Max was allowed to sleep in later than he normally would have, but he still had to go to school this morning.

Hey, Drewpop! I'm reading They Hate Each Other, by Amanda Woody. It's a great enemies-to-lovers story, if you like that sort of scenario. I especially like that they don't just stop hating each other after two or three chapters, but the ice thaws more slowly.

The strawberries were fresh from the farmer's market in town. I was pleasantly surprised that they were already available, when the weather has been practically bipolar for the last two months. Max loves any kind of fruit-based desserts, especially strawberries. We also watched Wonderstruck while the galette was baking.
