  1. Ask Cinnabun to call you Phi. The odds are better.
  2. My son, Max, and his boyfriend had a "dinner and a movie" date night. First movie: Love, Simon. Intermission for dinner, movie discussion. Dinner: Oklahoma onion smash burgers with curly fries. Dessert: Oreo cheesecake bites. (A riff on Simon's favorite cookie.) Second movie: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. Snack: cinnamon churros (tieing into the film's Southwestern setting.) Continuing the tradition of handwritten notes: "Relationship status: Still crushing. Hard." "I like you more than curly fries. And I really like curly fries." "I was gonna write you a love poem, but I got distracted by the smell of burgers. So just... pretend this is romantic." "Spoiler: I still like you after two movies. That's impressive."
  3. In 1858, a brawl exploded on the floor of the US House of Representatives. Fifty men were involved. The fight ended after one man's powdered wig was knocked from his head. When he retrieved the wig, he placed it backwards on his head. The two sides stopped fighting, overcome with laughter.
  4. Feel better soon, buddy.
  5. Granted, I haven't seen the whole show. But for context: he's throwing his son off the roof to prove that the kid inherited his superpowers. (In other words, the kid isn't harmed.)
  6. Max and Michael put together a "dinner and a movie" date night. They chose two movies: Love, Simon and Aristotle and Dante Discover the the Secrets of the Universe. Tying into the first movie: Oklahoma onion smash burgers with curly fries. Snacks for both films will be Oreo cheesecake squares (a twist on Simon's favorite) and cinnamon churros (reflecting the Southwestern setting of the second film). I've been teaching Max about menu/event planning, and he took this one with no input from me. It was all his and Michael's idea. 🥰
  7. Sounds like things went great.
  8. Good morning, Dugh and Mum.
  9. Would you prefer Boom Boom? Or Drewcifer? Or Drew Vader?
  10. Max made pancakes for dinner, with cooked apples and cider syrup. 😋
  11. Hey, Drew. Good morning. Hey, Dugh and Mum. I hope the pain will go away soon.
  12. So...NOT instant mashed potatoes, then?
  13. There's spearmint milk?
  14. Vesuvius, by Cass Biehn. A young thief named Felix pulls off his greatest heist yet: the divine helm of Mercury. After stealing the sacred relic from a temple near Pompeii, however, pieces of his unknown past begin to surface in his memories. Loren, a temple acolyte with ambition to rise through the ranks of the priesthood, has been plagued with fevered visions of Felix for years. The last thing he expects is for the boy of his literal dreams to stumble through the temple doors during an earthquake. Felix's memories. Loren's visions. Mercury's helm. All are mysteriously connected to each other. Now, Felix and Loren must navigate the blood-stained labyrinth of politics in ancient Rome to make it out alive---assuming they survive the eruption of Vesuvius, first.
  15. Also shocking: strawberry milk does not come from strawberries. (And who puts ice into a cup of milk?!!)
  16. For me, I think it was Devon Werkheiser, from "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide."
  17. Icelanders know how to speak my language.
  18. What was that about a spider on your shirt? No-one said a word, so...do tell. 😁
  19. Hey, Boom Boom. Where have you been hiding?
  20. I made macaroni and cheese carbonara for dinner.
  21. I never liked holiday gatherings with my family. Dealing with relatives I don't like, being forced to sit through boring conversations I have no interest in? No thanks. 90% of the foods were things I don't even enjoy. It was always too much chaos that resulted in me feeling overstimulated and exhausted by the end of the night. Nowadays, I spend holidays with my husband's family, which is much smaller (and quieter) than my own family. I get to contribute to the menu, which means I can eat food that I actually want. So, while holidays weren't something I particularly looked forward to in the past, I do enjoy them now, especially with my kids.
