When I got to the US in 1976, I found myself with five local TV stations, all of which seemed to think it was still somewhere between 1955 and the present. A parade of yesteryear's TV shows passed before my hungry eyes, and my nine year-old mind ate them up quite joyfully. We had nothing like American TV in Nederlands.
I guess a number of brain cells took it upon themselves to remember stuff like this. The Charlie Boone series contains a number of slightly obscure references to things like this. Very few have been remarked upon yet.
Thank you. The learning to fly episode was kind of obvious, but seemed suited for learning to feel something totally new. I considered a learning to swim episode, instead, but fish are just not as appealing as birds. 🙂
Well, thank you!
Sigh. Now let me see if I can get my big-assed head through the doorway!
Glad you enjoyed the story! Now, for Halloween, I was thinking...
I think it's many minds you see here, Gary. I've read this sort of stuff since I was a kid. Imaginations are usually sparked by the things in our lives we experience, and in this case, I've read a lot! I tend to think some of the imagination I've absorbed over the years fuels these stories to some extent. Squeeze a sponge, and you get water! 🙂
I think you've captured some of the mood of the world, Gary. Time should never be wasted the way some have been doing it lately. It's left us individually looking for a way out.
Fortunately, we do all seem to be heading in the same direction!
