  9. The laughter is for April 31st ( ) which is you at your wonderful, humourous best. Playing with language and words, yet making a sublime whole. No laughter for the 29th, of course. Has there been enough killing? 'Yes' can be the only answer. Why does it continue? That is one of the great questions of all time.

  20. I was just reading along, wondering where you were going with this, and wham! Such a twist ... and it was slipped in, quietly. Great prompt.
  21. The open door to the warehouse allowed some light in. It was dim, grey, and hesitant, but natural light nevertheless. It made a change from the harsh artificial glow of the overhead panels. The greyness of the daylight matched the scruffy overalls worn by the warehouse operatives. One of them, Fred, threw a box into the waiting Transit van. It hit the floor with a satisfying thud. The noise alerted another operative who stuck his head out from another aisle. “Hey! Watch it. Those are fragil
  22. Working at Merryweather's used to be a secure job. Now the weather market's been opened up, the competition from other companies is fierce.
  23. A fantastic short which is deceptively simple. Yet I suspect each and every word was weighed and investigated before being used. Can't say anything about the story without giving everything away, however it is a tour de force in its way. Read it - it won't take long and I'll bet you'll enjoy it.
  24. Yes .... from those members who bother. A high percentage of readers neither like nor comment. I appreciate some sense of how the story is going down. Even if the numbers are only a ball park figure.

    Yes, it is, but as you say, he's not the most thoroughly organised of souls. Wonder how he does in his paid work? Hmm ... However, as I've said elsewhere, he's only been volunteering 'in the field' for 3 weeks or so. Hopefully he'll improve.
