    Decisions

I'm glad you're finding it 'gentle' rather than 'slow and boring' ... Progress is definitely being made. Thanks for the comment.

    Decisions

@droughtquake Yes, things do seem to be going reasonably well for Geoff. Although the proposed conversation with his mum will occupy his thoughts, I think.

    Overtures

    Yes, indeed. I don't do teenagers ...
  4. Thanks, @A.J. much appreciated.
  5. “Now what do we do? I know. Who's for going down the pub to celebrate? We can't get pissed, but we'll get bloody close.” In the corridor at work, Geoff turned his head to see who was talking so loudly. He wasn't at all surprised to see it was the burly, overweight bloke from Support Services, surrounded by his mates, all with equally large beer guts. It was rumoured he never did a thing. Just sat in his cubby hole and ate, drank, and gossiped with anyone who passed by. That Wednesday was
  6. Thanks, @A.J. I don't suppose there's a way for getting my chapter to show this time? It's no great problem if it's not possible. Or too much hassle.
  7. Thanks, @Timothy M. I had already reported the problem via pm.

    I Promise

Yep, it is. I followed Parker's lead here and I'm glad I did. I don't know the characters from elsewhere, but the story stands on its own very well. Thanks for an unexpected moment of reading pleasure.
  9. @Parker Owens It'll be just as bad for the poor sod who follows you. And that won't be me.
  10. Blimey, there must be few authors who feel like that. I mean, I'm happy with the readership I have, but I'm also conscious that unless I work at it, my stories will gradually sink to the bottom and become part of the leaf litter. I appreciate your reasons though. Having more pressure applied is unlikely to help ... It's very much an individual's decision. But as tim says: . Whether it's by writing more, or promoting what you already have.

    Chapter 1

I do like the occasional zombie tale. This one was both fun and chilling. Good stuff.
  12. I'm considering a couple of them. Yes, it is self-promotion but only of my stories, not of me as an individual. That would certainly make me feel like . A lot of my output is shorts, so trying to get new readers to give them a go is more hard work than with multi-part stories. (That's my excuse, anyway. )
  13. I noticed this yesterday while thinking about including a link to my external blog in the end notes to a story.
  14. Stars for the star by @Parker Owens , The modern magi by @AC Benus , Chrisis Eve by @Headstall are my choices. Yes, I know I'm cheating, but I can't choose just one. I won't say anything about any of them other than they are all excellent stories, very different, and all demand to be read.
  15. Hmm ... maybe.

    A Ripping Yarn

It's their first appearance, although the characters were changed slightly when they were given Soul Music.

    No Surrender?

Yes, it has the intensity, the feverishness of something produced through a delusion of some kind. Whether that's so, is something for the reader to decide. Thanks for your comment.

    Expectations

I deliberately don't give their ages. Eric's about right in his guess about Andy's age; he himself has been retired for several years. Yes, they both contributed to the failure of their first meeting in different ways. Thanks for the comment.

    Given a Chance

It's an all too common phenomenon, unfortunately. Eric, though, might be on to better things ...? Thanks for reading.

    An Uncommon Daisy

Indeed - I think it was. But if so, where did it go? I refer something in the middle, temperature wise.

    Going to waste?

I don't know - have you listened to them recently? Thanks for reading, drought.

    No Surrender?

Indeed. Like an espresso ... Perhaps ...

    No Surrender?

Who knows? What if .. What if ...

    No Surrender?

Good! That was the general idea ... Thanks for reading, Tim.

    No Surrender?

    What, indeed? Thanks, dugh.
