    The Story

Your comments make me very happy (even making you cry). Thank you!
  2. Happy Birthday, Lit!
  3. A wonderful work given an amazing performance. Thanks, AC.

Thank you! The words you do use are wonderful on their own. I'm happy it meant so much to you.

    Relationships

@Timothy M. I'm very glad you enjoyed your gift, Tim. Giving our heroes a short time off will allow me to concentrate on other writing for a little while. Tony is looking long-term, and that is only one way in which his relationship with Geoff differs from those that have gone before.
  6. I love the design, AC, simple and Christmassy . Not so keen on Mendelssohn ... I'll watch out for your other offerings, though.
  7. Not quite - I've still the longest one to do. This weekend hopefully. It has been fascinating to see how everyone else interpreted the themes. And an education in writing techniques. As always.
  8. No. 4 is my bugbear sometimes, but thankfully, I'm usually aware that I'm starting to fall into that trap. Sometimes it means going back and making changes, but then I'm always doing that ... . My faithful beta-reader ( @Parker Owens ) doesn't shy away from pointing out anything that might come under the heading of no. 5. I don't always agree with him, but he always makes me look hard at my writing, which is good. Nos. 1 & 2 are complete turn-offs for me when I start a story. I don't give a story that much time to grab hold of me, and if the beginning is dull, a list of attributes, or undiluted backstory, then I'm off. I'm glad to see I'm mostly doing things right ... Thanks for the pointers / reminders - very useful.

    The Story

@Lisa Thank you for your praise. I'm glad it meant something to you. To my mind, the epilogue was perfect, giving a glimpse of Saul and Max together after their reunion. It is a piece of writing I am very proud of.

You make me very happy by saying so, dear editor.

    Relationships

Geoff is making slow, steady progress on the relationship front. He does at least seem to accept he is worthy to be someone's boyfriend now. But, as you say, more work to be done yet.

    Relationships

I'm sure there'd be a queue of people who'd want to take on Tony if Geoff ever left him ... (Not that he would.).

    The Tale

Hmm ... Perhaps, as dumb as an ox would be a useful phrase to deploy here? Not remotely original, I know, but I had fun. Thanks for reading, Tim, and your comments.

    Predator

Quite apart from echoing what everyone else has said, I love the way that the first 3 stanzas start with 'I', the 4th 'Your' as the emphasis shifts from the predator to the prey .... Wonderful, so sensual.
  15. “How can you be so sure? You've never seen me in an interview.” Geoff's plaintive question was answered by one of Tony's best kisses – strong, loving, supportive. When they separated, Tony stood back a little, and regarded his boyfriend fondly against the backdrop of the kitchen sink. “You know, you look great in that suit. And the tie sets everything off nicely.” Geoff fingered his tie, new on that morning. “So it should do, given how hard you pushed me into buying it.” Tony
  16. Two this week. Young and Tender is a dystopian horror short for prompt 623, and the latest Tony and Geoff chapter Relationships is a response to prompt 579. I like the look of both of these new ones.

    Chapter 2

Blimey! But then, people under enormous psychological pressure can act that way. They see no other alternative. Startling, a!most heart-stopping, and very good.

    The Story

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it despite the subject matter. It was the first time I'd tried two parallel narratives, so I'm happy you thought they worked well.

    Chapter 1

A satisfying read. Our lives are so interconnected, though we don't know just how many connections until something happens. Hospitals must see so many awkward, difficult conversations and encounters. Thanks, Def.

    The Story

Thank you! I'm very pleased my story rang true for you. As an author, that makes me happy.
  21. I'll admit to prodding both, but then not getting any obvious idea what they were there for. I would've used the letter writing one for my anthology entry just, if I'd known what it was.

    Chapter 1

Did Mark get what was coming to him? Nobody deserves to die homeless, but pretty much everything else he brought on himself. Good story. Thanks.

    The Tale

Yes, not perhaps the most original of themes, but I had fun with it. Unfortunately, I posted it about 30 mins before the antho went live. *sigh* So, thanks more than usual for commenting.

    Chapter 1

What a wonderful, enchanting, funny tale. A pleasure to read. Thank you.
