Here’s my impression on this chapter. I like the way the family presented this information, which is potentially devastating to Kris, in a way to let Kris know that he is an unwitting bystander in this plot, and that don’t hold him accountable for any of it. It appears that they appreciate his intelligence and skills, and I won’t be surprised to see Stef take him under his wing. JJ is taking this all surprisingly well. But I can be completely wrong about this.

So much ground was covered in this chapter, high and low notes, laughs and tears. The idea that Jake is Greg’s twin somehow is intriguing. I’m looking forward to the Prince George’s meeting with the barons plays out. Actually, there’s a lot to look forward to in this tale.

I agree with RainbowPhoenixWI about your use of dialogue. In so many stories, the dialogue seems to be just filler using clever or sad back and forth that doesn’t really serve character development or the story arc. That’s not the case here. The dialogues you write enhance the story, characters and all. Thanks for the good work.

Thank you for this touching story, Ronyx. Here it is almost 8 years later, I’ve just finished reading this story again. And like the other time(s?) that I’ve read it before, I’m thinking that this is one story that begs for a sequel.

Pete’s a thoughtful 36 year-old man in a growing 14 year-old boy’s body. He considers and learns from his experience. Keep it up, Pete!

C-L-I-F-F-H-A-N-G-E-R !! Even with all of Uncle George’s pre-emptive moves to keep Pete out of harms way, Carl and his dad’s network still always manages to make Pete’s life hell. It seems to be a game of one-umpmanship with the actions of the Turner Family’s probable toady Dr. Danbury, Uncle George is sure to respond in-kind. Wild card: Will Pete’s mom decide she needs to take Pete back for her family in Utah to handle?

Having grown up in a loving home, and having done my best to provide one to my own kids, Pete’s mother’s behavior is unfathomable to me. I do know that it happens to too many children in real life. My heart goes out to Pete and every other victim of this type of parental abuse, real or fictional. I’ll be rooting for Pete through the rest of this story.

I’m late to getting started on this story, but better late than never. I’m enjoying everything about it so far - the writing, characters, story arc all lead to a compelling and entertaining read. And I’m very glad that I can binge read forward through the tale.
