1. Here is a good review: http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/kindle.asp The screen technology that the Kindle uses is the very cool "e-ink". Tech Geeks can check the details out here: http://www.eink.com/technology/howitworks.html I will be looking at one in generation 2. Kind of like I'm now looking at picking up a second generation Zune. (I hate IPod and pretty much all things Apple)
2. I try to avoid shopping as much as possible. On occasion though, I simply must go to the store. At times like these, I'm thankful for Wegmans. If you don't have one in your area, Wegmans is a grocery store chain here in the NY/PA/NJ area. They tend to cater to middle and upper middle class neighborhoods. They have also been consistently in the top 10 employers in the USA for the last 10 years. (including number 1). Anyway, they tend to have the higher quality teen males working for them. (good wage and college scholarships). The amount of eyecandy in these stores on weekends is... well... staggering. Any way... other than getting some shopping done... this day has been pretty quiet. I have been doing some more writing world details for my new writing venture. (future of Psionic Corp universe) I'm off to enjoy the great big snowstorm.
3. I learned to drive on a stick shift. In the grand scheme of things, I prefer stick shift. Especially in a car with lots of go... My current vehicle is an automatic though. Drives me insane this time of year because it is much harder to handle in the snow than a stick shift was.
4. My trash talk isn't ever broadcast, as I never have the mic on. Good thing too. I'm usually trashing myself "How could I be so f**King stupid?" thing like that.
5. As some people know, I enjoy gaming when I get the time. While I'm not head-over-heels in love with FPS's, I do have Halo3, and a few similar games. Gay Gaymer (For boys who like boys who like joysticks), has a little video showing how bad it can get for gay guys online. (Part of it, was the purposefully named "gayboy" gamer tag. Still, it is rather shocking... I bet even for a sailor. I'll ask Dan. ) http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/11/29/ne...ive-trash-talk/ When I'm xbox live, I have occasionally reported people that were being abusive, but I've never really run into anything as bad as this video. Myr
6. This is a cute spoof of Nickelback's I wanna be a rockstar.
7. I am now that I'm home. http://www.abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/st...5544&page=1 I got a funny vibe when I was reading about Dumbledore's youth that I dismissed in the rush to find out the ending. I distinctly remember it now that I'm told Dumbledore is gay. It certainly explains some of the stuff going on behind the scenes.
8. Well everyone... it hasn't happened in 14 years... I'm going on vacation. I will be worshiping at the Alter of the Mouse in sunny Orlando, Florida. Please behave. I do not intend to be online at all and if anything happens that requires me to get called on vacation... let's just say that you will no longer be a member... I have lots of plans and lots of stuff on tap for when I get back. I should be nice and refreshed after 9 days away from the Internet and depressing news. I am spending a number of days at the Happiest Place on Earth, after all. Be good! Myr
9. Iran is national sponser of terror. The war in Iraq is a proxy war with Iran. (for those of you too slow to follow this... American Soldiers are being killed by weapons and people from Iran. This is what they refer to as Casus belli. Act of War) I'm assuming that you antiwar for any reason types would be the ones that also denied that Hitler was exterminating Jews. You probably also think President Bush was the one who flew the airplanes into these buildings: We are in a global war against Islamic Fundamentalism. Or Islamic Facism, if you prefer the proper term. These facists, like the Nazis, want to exterminate Jews, Gays, and Americans. They will do everything they can to do so. It sickens me that the first targets of these people are the ones playing Neville Chamberlain demanding that we surrender to them because they are oh so nice. Myr
10. definitely a cool site.
11. What a crock of crap. I've never partaked in soy. I was breastfed and then milk-fed. no soy. Not when I was a kid. Not even on purpose today....
12. The timing is a little screwy for me. I'm on vacation in Florida for the week of 10/20 through 10/27. Then turning around and flying to San Francisco the weekend after I get back. I haven't been on a plane in 27 years (to Dallas, by the way Joe), and here I am considering flying to the two furtherst places I can go in the Contenental USA inside a 2 week period. I checked the cost... I can afford to go. I checked vacation time remaining... I have just enough. I'm not sure on schedule. Work is going to be insane with me gone for a week. If I came back only to work 4 days, I think my boss would lay an egg. I'm thinking about it. call it 50/50 right now of me going to San Francisco. Now... next year should be in NYC... lol. I'd rather drive. (did you know it's cheaper for me to buy a ticket to San Francisco with a layover in NYC then for me to buy a ticket to NYC?)
13. I havent' had much reason to smile today, but I did get a couple of PMs that made me smile. Myr
14. Babylon 5: Crusade. The movie intro, Babylon 5: A Call to Arms was great, but almost completely ruined by very crappy music totally different from the show. Discordant. The show would have been fine if TNT let JMS run it like WB let him do B5. They kept asking for more T&A and other crap to dumb it down to TNT's auidience. He told them to buzz off, which is why it was only 13 episodes.
15. Keegan shows up in one of the interviews. I got the impression that someone said beforehand "Flame On". If you know what I mean...
16. Drooling over Prince Regent Vinturi is also fun. (Keegan MacIntosh) mmm hehe
17. For those of you that love Babylon 5 as one of the greatest Sci-Fi stories ever told... there is a new chapter: http://babylon5.warnerbros.com/ Direct to DVD movie. They say, if this sells well, there will be more. Apparently, WB has been making a nice amount of money from the DVD sales. (As I own all the Babylon 5 dvds yet released, I can see this.) Any way, click on Main Menu and then "Lost Tales" tab with the little movie playing. You'll see a very cool trailer for the DVD. Babylon 5: Lost Tales comes to DVD on July 31, 2007 Be sure to pick it up. Myr

Harry Potter (SPOILERS!)

I was affected by Dobby's death. Especially the length that Harry went to for his burial. I was rather hurt by Fred's death.
19. Ieshwar, The site you want is here: http://www.hp-lexicon.org/wizards/james.html The Harry Potter Lexicon. It has not yet been updated with book 7 information. as for James's job? Career: According to JKR, "James inherited plenty of money, so he didn't need a well-paid profession." Myr
20. I doubt she reads the fanfics. With over 200,000 HP stories on FF alone, someone was bound to hit real plot points. Many people have predicted Snapes unending love of Lily Evans Potter, for example. Though, there was a few times where I thought she might be nodding to the fanfic folks. The line about Snape after he jumped out the window: "With a tingle of horror, Harry saw in the distance a huge, batlike shape flying through the darkness towards the perimeter wall." I'm pretty sure she described Snape as batlike in the first book, but the fanfic authors have run away with it. 2 outstanding questions have come to mind: 1) Does the Sorting Hat summon the Sword of Gryffindor from wherever it is? Or did Griphook bring the thing back to Hogwarts (which seems HIGHLY unlikely after the description we were given of Goblins motivations.) 2) We know from book two that Colin Creevey's father is a milkman, and it says he's Muggleborn, as he was a victim of the Heir of Slytherin. If he really is Muggleborn, how did he end up at Hogwarts for this book? Or did I miss something. I thought they stopped anyone without direct proof of wizard relation from going to Hogwarts or anyplace else, for that matter. Does this mean Creevey is a Half-Blood?

Harry Potter (SPOILERS!)

I think there would have been a mutiny. She also gave a nod to those of us with the Harry/Draco fetish. lol
22. How long before we see the ? lol I clocked in at a slightly slower 12 hours, as I stopped for meals in there. I don't think I'm going to appreciate all the details until I reread it. Oh, I was very proud of Kreatcher. Myr
23. My goodness. The journey has at least come to an end. It's suprising the amount of things that different fanfiction writers got right. Albus Severus Potter. Hell of a name for a son, eh? I couldn't beleive the number of deaths. Something else!! Bravo!
24. I got the message you cute little pest.
25. I agree on Fusion power. I'll say some form of affordable renewable fuel for our vehicles. (Hydrogen fuel cells, perhaps?) Much higher efficiency solar panels. Anthropomorphic robots. Learning Computers/ A.I (with all the dangers associated with it. ie, Terminator or I, Robot or Battlestar Gallactica)
