  1. It has not changed much in the last few years. You must enter all the * marked information on each Step, as it reminds you in the bright orange box...
  2. Google made this change in the US months ago. They must be rolling it out to Canada now...
  3. Ancient Aliens is a guilty pleasure. And Alien Hair Guy is a fun meme. For the record, I'm agnostic. They pose some really interesting questions, but 'ancient aliens' seems like a hell of a leap on answers. As an engineer, I'm fascinated on how they were able to build ancient structures and what was the purpose for them? And how were they able to move stuff so big that we would struggle with today.

  6. I'm dedicating today's word to my dad. I lost him six years ago today. Dad never let people drive his golf cart... I think he thought everyone drove like this... Funny part of that last story is he got busted all the way down and promoted back to PFC by the same Colonel on the same day because the job he was doing in the location they were required the rank and no one else knew how to do the job. I also want to thank my dear friends here on the site that helped me through that year. Miss ya dad! Dad and I when I was about 4.
  7. In my experience, it is one of 2 things: Corrupted Cache on the browser. This seems to happen a more frequently on Apple's Safari than other places. An odd delay in recognizing a click to go past the ad. I've had this happen a time or two on my android phone. Best option is try clearing the cache and then trying again.

    Sub-plots

Another great article Comsie! I think sub-plots are critical to any but the barest of stories. They are especially important in speculative fiction worlds. Unless you are using spaceship as background and calling that Science Fiction because spaceship... lol. In my own writing, I use sub-plot items to tie my short stories together to the world and make the world feel lived in. My only problem is making sure I keep everything consistent. Because if I mentioned it, it ties into something somewhere. Some of things are planting seeds for a bigger payoff later on. I think JMS's Babylon 5 show is my inspiration for story arcs and ties across different stand alone stories. There wasn't a single episode in 5 seasons that didn't have some, often significant, plot tie to the bigger picture or the characters that inhabited that world. This was up against the "planet of the week" sort of thing you got from Star Trek at the time. In fact, if you are fan of Star Trek Deep Space 9, you'll see the "Babylon 5" effect in the shows prior to Babylon 5 and shows after Babylon 5's success. The whole Dominion War story arc only appeared after B5 blazed the path. They did a good job with focusing their previously random sub-plots.
