  1. For being where you were in life when you wrote this, I'm astounded by it's optimism and beauty. Yes, there's sadness to it, and desperation, but ultimately there is hope and second chances. Humanity, after all, isn't completely doomed; one just has to find the right people to share the journey with. Thanks for posting this one, boy.
  2. A candid description of depression and how the struggle to reach the light can feel futile. Great job with this.
  3. Another story I will put on my list to read. Thanks!
  4. I can't really imagine it. I have close friends who are straight, and I don't expect or want anything sexual from them. However, when it comes to a "bromance" situation, where, as you defined it, me and the guy are bonded in every way except below the waist, the physical would happen eventually. As a dominant person, it just would. So I won't say that I coudn't be in a bromance situation as you described - I just don't think it would stay 100% platonic.
  5. Flipping through an old scrapbook -- Tattered now, falling apart at the seams Carefully retrieved from inside its dusty box After countless years tucked away in hibernation I slowly turn over each large page, Somberly aware of how the brittle paper And faded photographs of childhood Mirror the unkempt conditions of our familial bond Memories rush back to me like storms: Winters spent in the orange toboggan, Summers spent around the campfire,

    Stranger Things

OK, when you shared your sneak peek about this one, I had no idea where it was going. And I still don't. But you've started something intriguing here, and I'm anxious to read more. The premise of the mysterious "Sam" arriving on Finn's doorstep to collect a favor, and Finn's description of his father's struggles with "the war", is a captivating start. you certainly know how to weave a tale, boy.
  8. your writing and posting of this haibun couldn't have come at a more appropriate time for me personally. During my 9+ hours of driving to Texas and then back again, these are some of the same thoughts I was having. Being in wide open spaces made me dread returning to the city. And not just for the city itself, but for all that comes along with it. It can be stifling. you show that with stark reality here. To me, the crux of this poem is your acknowledgment and appreciation of the tiniest Spring surprises - strips of green grass, the newly planted tree. That right there is the kernel of hope, the reminder to seek beauty where you can, even in a concrete jungle. Thanks for illustrating it so brilliantly, tim. It's given me more to think about.

    All Your Ducks

A short but difficult read... I saw myself there. I smelled the farm, felt the bark under my hand, heard the ducks in their excitement, tasted the whiskey burn my throat, felt the over-arching grief, followed by a healing moment. Even in a simple prompt, you express the richness of your imagination, tim. Kudos.

    Twenty-Five Miles

Thanks for giving your insight, Def. You have great perspective on the dynamics between these two. Demons, white-nights, distrust, etc. As always, I greatly appreciate you reading and sharing your comments.

    The Last Two Days

you've had a brilliant run of poems this month, tim. They're all good, and I commend you for your dedication. April 30th reminds me of a haunted apartment I lived in shortly after I moved to Colorado, lol.

    Crack Someone Up

Sinister overtones... I like that description, deville. It was my intention to have a mysterious, somewhat bleak start to the story and the benign ending to tie in the idiom. Thanks for your comments!

Perhaps a serial killer chiropractor? Thanks for the comments, Dolores.
  19. This is a great short, caz! Clever idea to introduce a merman as the main character. It brought your idiom to life (literally).
