That would be an accurate assessment, lol.

The empathy and connection between Asa & Duncan was deeply touching….the inherent goodness of Corbin & Caleb was felt by Dante and Marcel, enough to engender emotional as well as physical healing. I got chills with Caleb’s Russia reconnaissance suggestion….the last time a shade shifter tried to get one over on MangyMutt, he….he, well, we know what happened. 🥺💔 Very interesting that mosquito bites are impervious to the healing abilities of shifters, lol. Those suckers are the sweetest itch to scratch EVER. Marcel’s story was full of heartbreaking humility; it was a hopeful sign that Duncan wasn’t totally lost to the trauma he endured that he straightened Marcel out….it’s clear that these three are a package deal, wherever they end up. The only thing I’ll say about Russia is that it would be an additional tragedy to the young pups should they lose anyone else they trusted….and that I hope Sebastian or Giles finds out beforehand.

Pieter and staff are very welcoming, hope the castle has been properly fortified security wise, given that the hybrids live there & the pending war with MangyMutt & his coven….time will tell if Willa is Ms. Right or Ms. Right now. Duncan witnessed something no one should see, let alone a child, no doubt Asa will be smoothing the path to make Duncan’s therapeutic efforts more receptive, good thing too, as little Duncan’s mental wounds seem to equal his physical….that's not even taking into account what he endured as a hybrid, at least he & his brother are together….Marcel sounds like placement with a “regular” family would be to his benefit, if that’s how his “noble” relatives treat him. Vampires will never be invited to cross my threshold, the only ones that ever really intrigued caught my were Le’stat & Co. in the movie “Interview with the Vampire” (yes, I know the book was better, even though I never read it, lol books tend to be better than the movie). Another calm chapter, huh? 🤔 “Still feeling under the weather and it's been a challenge with Gnomie down too. It's hard being the same person.” 😄😄 @kbois & @MrsgnomieMay one of you, both of you or all you feel better soon. 😉….to my other fellow American readers, on the eve of our holiday, I wish you a:

I’ve had the pleasure of hearing birds sing some city mornings, sometimes even wake me up….they admittedly sound prettier than roosters but there’s something about that cock in the morning…. I far prefer it. 😉 Maybe it’s the novelty & I usually only heard one…. I mean, whatever would I do with more than one cock in the morning?

For all you chicken carers/rural dwellers: did your cocks crow at sunrise? The few times I woke up in the countryside one was always my alarm clock, I loved it, lol.

Yes indeed, I was saying to myself this felt like an extra serving before I read your closing notes, lol. Thank you for the “almost double chapter”, Gary. ☺️ “Besides, Vincent had taught him well about working with different woods, being a very fine furniture-maker hisself.” Vincent can make furniture. Vincent can build a house. Vincent can love a man well. Vincent wanted to marry and have a family, which I’ve no doubt he did and did well. What the heck can’t Vincent do? lol.….given the glimpses we got of the life Jubal lived before they met, it’s no wonder Vincent did all but rope the moon as far as he was concerned, though it seems his hero worship was deserved….. I say hung the moon because as far as Jubal’s concerned, Lucas not only hangs it, he ropes it every night for the sun to rise, too. ☀️ My mother had to tend to chickens as a child, a task she disdained even in the retelling, lol. She said they were mean & always pecked at her but didn’t have a choice, like Jubal, as it seemed my grandmother palmed that task off to her child as soon as she was able; I wonder sometimes if that isn’t the better way even with the modern conveniences we have now. Here shows my city slicker upbringing-where would Jubal find the moss he used to fill in the spaces? 😯 I think they grow by water & know them to be found on/in fallen logs sometimes but don’t think I’ve seen them grow the way grass does, I’ve previously likened them to mold. “Billy?” “The town councillor’s son. Young fella what follows the sheriff around like a puppy?” So….Billy isn’t a deputy but does seem to want to be a sheriff’s “aide” 🤔. Wonder what kind of “troubles” he had. Reid has definitely made a turn in that there is nothing of a proprietary nature when he refers to Lucas, at all, there is only genuine love of a different kind and genuine concern. Even though Jubal can’t think of Bearpaw as home unless Lucas survives, he has experienced growth here….he doesn’t hide his scar anymore and is even willing to provide an explanation of it to a select few; subconsciously Lucas’ unconditional acceptance of him has given him courage….should Lucas die and interact with Jubal no more, he’s done more than enough. What will Lucas’ first words be upon his awakening? (because he will ☺️) Where have the wildings whiled away to? Has Morey accepted Jubal as a son in law? 😉 Find out next week when we check out “Bearpaw: An Old West Tale” 🐾 🍻

Gordon has taken to being a bonus parent like a duck to water, it no doubt has made Brian’s unexpected transition to full time parenting infinitely easier. Toby is very accepting of Gordon as his father’s boyfriend, that didn’t have to translate into acceptance as a stepparent but there is a harmony in their household that speaks to mutual admiration for each other. Brian and Gordon’s approach to nudity is greatly admired, as the mother of a son, I’m a bit more conservative….it’s okay for him to be undressed under his covers but I ask him for some coverage in common areas, the same courtesy I give him, even if it’s only underwear. Kudos for Brian asking Toby about his interactions with Noah, it lead to Toby confessing to their sexual experimentation (which also speaks to how comfortable he is with his dad). Brian is doing a better job of things than he thinks, hopefully this relationship with Gordon will further boost his confidence, a total 180 from his relationship with Deirdre; Speaking of….one hopes her meet up with her son comes from a genuine place & not being shamed into it; I want to say the jury’s still out but her past behavior makes that hard….for Toby’s sake I hold out hope her behavior improves. Whether Deirdre steps up or continues fucking up, Toby now has stability in his life via his relationship with his father, which can only be a good thing.

Second bit of trivia: Thurl Ravenscroft, (the original Tony the Tiger) sang “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”’. Confession: that evil grin scared the fuck outta me as kid….still not too crazy about it now, lol.

There needed to be another relaxing chapter, one where Caleb and Asa are home, giving a glimpse of their new normal once bastard kitty is put down….to that end: “Holy fucking Christ, on a goddamn Ritz cracker with Cheez Whiz! What was that? A bolt of lightning shot through his body from head to toe. He yelled incoherently as his cock leaked faster than the Titanic after smacking into the iceberg. “ Best passage in the chapter, LMAO!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 “His mind conjured up an old TV commercial for Tootsie Roll lollipops with the kid asking the owl, ‘How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?’ Three. Three licks. Three thrusts. Three times more powerful than any orgasm he ever had.” The owl bit the pop after three licks, you know. 🦉😉 There are few better combinations than passion in tandem with love, Caleb and Asa have that and then some, in spades. 💝 Corbin is going to be more than he currently is in the shifter world….methinks his strictly human days are numbered; his reunion with Ashton and Austin is greatly anticipated. I’m sorry Cassiel is also experiencing upheaval in his world but it kind of makes sense that MangyMutt’s power play would upset the balance in the whole shifter universe I don’t know if Europe could be considered neutral territory between North America and Asia, there is probably no neutral territory while that He Bitch live; Our trio have strategic and personal value in this battle and their proximity to MangyMutt’s lair makes me nervous….wishing safe travels and endeavors to Caleb, Asa & Corbin.

As parents tend to, Brian and Gordon are on to what Toby and Noah are doing, yet way behind on how much, lol!!

While I’m glad Toby & Noah will benefit from the perks of this new client, I’m not thrilled with Russ Kahn pursuing Brian & Gordon, collectively or individually. I'm glad that if there is extra activity Brian and Gordon do it together but I far prefer them as a monogamous couple.

Excellent comment. ☺️

Me too, lol.

This was another delightful chapter. 😊 Overall, Toby’s science fair was a hit, It’s understandable that Toby would miss his mother’s presence but he was well (and more positively) represented by grandparents, as well as Brian and Gordon….the commendation, while not one of the cash prizes, still spoke to the prestige of Toby & his classmate’s efforts. While Elsie and Nina seemed amenable to Toby’s family life, their parents clearly weren’t, this speaks to hope for the future & a clear example that the way one's parents think doesn’t automatically dictate their own beliefs….Toby seemed to be treated well at the homes of his project mates, (which is something) but he shouldn’t have had to borne discrimination against his parents (a situation which he handled with great maturity). “Gordon had a quick flashback to his own childhood when they’d looked equally out of place on school visits. And just as unaware, or more accurately perhaps, uncaring of the effect they caused. They were just themselves, Gordon smiled.” Gordon’s reminiscence about his parents was endearing, he appreciated their support as a child, even if they didn’t blend in (or perhaps in spite of it) just as he appreciates their support of Toby, which is proved more genuine all the time, as evidenced by their wanting him to catch the bus to stay with them after school or on weekends….Gordon himself showed the shrewdness of a parent, noting whom they should further engage with that Brian was oblivious to, lol. Kudos as well to Ms. Vincent, who seems a dedicated, fair minded educator. In just a few short months, Toby’s life has improved exponentially, which he deserves.

Oh yeah, I forgot about “there”….checking to see if I can detect a pulse now….thumbless, of course 😁😉

When I read this passage, I thought about the thumb thing too, lol. I wasn’t told about that right away and had to learn the hard way, lol. Pulse taking is an art-I know of the wrists and the neck (which I still to this day fumble around with)…. I think there are other parts of body to get a beat, besides the heart of course, lol.

One of mutual respect and the shared experience of “being made the same way”, as well as loving/having loved the same man. They could be friends….only friends.
