I likened Jubal’s excess energy used up in the furious remodeling of Lucas’ home as a form of burnt offering for Lucas’ recovery….he’s probably more grateful than he’s ever been in his life and he wants the universe and Lucas to know it. 🙏 🎁

The chapter’s named “Peace” and the opening note said “.. on Lucas's side...” , yet the peace I observed came from Jubal’s relief at Lucas’ continued recovery, which is fine with me….a happy Jubal is of pleasurable interest to witness; even in his relief, his desire to feather the nest of the man he loves, keeps his exhaustion at bay for a while. Lucas will come home to a simple but well made interior with a majestic staircase that changes his place from a cabin to a home. It’s exciting to see the back and forth between man and beasts….the water and trail of oat flakes are slowly leading the wildings into their new home….I’m sure they are aware of the enticement and it is a great measure of trust they are showing our intrepid horse wranglers but being wildings, their gentling will not be easy and will take time, lol. “it was hard to believe he’d ever fit through such a small opening that godawful day.” The timeline of Ronnie Prescott’s attack to Lucas’ waking up should only be about three to four days, yet Jubal’s mind has already put a longer distance to it because his love woke up, everything before is ancient history….funny how perspective affects one’s mood; Jubal’s not just relieved, he’s happy now….I reckon as happy as he’ll allow himself to be. The six eggs with that salted bacon had me thinking of a coronary but back in those days, it was pure fuel….that meal might’ve been worked off before noon, with what all needed doing in a day. “Picking up the saw, he headed for the laneway to take care of that damn broken branch he had to keep ducking under. “Good riddance,” he said after climbing down and tossing it into the trees. And with that, Lucas’ path home is clear. How soon will Lucas be able to cross the threshold of his redone abode? Who’s more impatient to see whom between our two “good friends”? Well. That went sideways with a NASCAR like turn really quickly. Wow.

This chapter reminds me of an episode of the “Will and Grace” reboot where both unknowingly started seeing and sleeping with the same guy (he was played by Nick Offerman & was sexy af, lol) He almost had them into threesome but cooler heads prevailed, lol. At least Lacy didn’t hold this against Dylan….it also begs the question if Lacy indeed is attracted to a “type”, what are the odds that she’d get seriously involved with two men of multiple/open sexualities in a row?

Coparent or not, Dylan is VERY forgiving.

I started this story interested in the premise you presented and it took a totally unexpected turn with Lacy’s brain tumor, which she clearly had before her divorce from Dylan; if anything, finding out her husband had same sexual relationships just gave direction to her paranoia and delusions, to the point that she managed to demonize her husband out of custody & into supervised, other weekend visits with their son. The progression of Lacy’s delusions from her brain tumor, brought back wounding memories that haven’t totally scabbed over….the last 14 months of my mother’s life included dementia along with her advanced Parkinson’s disease. Watching her body waste away the two years prior was bad enough….to contend with the deterioration of her mind in addition was a hellish nightmare; I was her primary caretaker and only those who’ve lived with this can truly understand the torturous existence that robs you of stability and serenity. My mother fortunately remembered everyone until the end but at the same time, certain people were her enemy, like me, because I was more nurse than daughter and made her do things she didn’t want to do. I thought Lacy’s delusions would be a trigger for me but I find myself welcoming this read….Dylan’s a good father, whether he has sex with men or women, I’m more troubled Lacy weaponized the courts to deny Dylan custody….she isn’t the first, unfortunately, nor will she be the last.

“But are we ready?” Is anyone ever totally ready for battle? Loss is the inevitable outcome of war….between the Montana crew (who have the Sentinels, which is a superpower group of their own), Giles’ pack in Texas, and their assorted other animal shifter allies, I think they have enough to make MangyMutt’s side suffer the greater losses. I truly hope Enya is right about the guards’ ineptitude, if HeBitch chose to upgrade to a better caliber of guard now, well the possibilities don’t bear consideration. Asa is strong and he’s used to looking out for himself, hopefully that and his new family will prove enough motivation for him to use any opportunity to his advantage. On a lighter note: “Hunter shook his head and chuckled. “The supernatural world has some crazy-ass shit in its back pocket.” In the side & front pockets too, lol. “I’d like to pick your brain if you don’t mind.” Enya plopped down on the other end of Caleb's couch. “Fire away.” Hunter and Kellan snorted. Sebastian glared, and Reilly snickered. Enya smiled.” A sense of humor is the saving grace of almost every situation, having a sense of humor about oneself is a blessing.

I hope you and every author on this site know we appreciate every chapter you post to a story & all the work that goes into it, even if there is sometimes impatience in the waiting, lol. My handle is FanLit because I’m a huge fan of literature, it’s been a haven all my life….I can’t begin to count how many times coming here saved me from wigging out or breaking down this past year….I'm very grateful for the mental refuge this site is….that includes the great interaction the comments allow with the authors and other readers.

I want to blame them for Asa getting caught by MangyMutt but the recon idea was a bad one in the first place & I think that Hebitch has something in his security that looks out for shade shifters, since he’s familiar with their existence.

The adoption of Dante, Duncan & Marcel was a forgone conclusion, the familial configurations were the only thing left in question….my concern is Vann’s reaction to Caleb’s confession and whether he’ll feel welcome knowing his father has a new instafamily, no matter how much he may be reassured that he is. “limp bacon to super crispy in two seconds flat. “ 🥓 Quite the impressive culinary feat….the better to eat him with, no doubt, lol. 🥓 🐺 Caleb is one sexy motherf*cker, or is that fatherf*cker? Fatherf*cker to be? His dominant attitude is hot🔥🔥…it figures he’d be a power bottom, lol….guess you can take the man from the alpha title but you can’t take the alpha out of the man. *SIGH*. As sinister as Asa falling into MangyMutt’s clutches are, there is a relief from the shoe drop blue balls each prior chapter brought. Knowing what this rancid fucker is capable of, I won’t even begin to imagine what Asa might endure at his hands….only hope that Caleb escaped detection and will be bringing rescue soon. 🤞

No one. No one lives in a tomb. It was not a literal reference….Jubal’s devotion to building onto and bettering the home of the man he loves evoked the comparison to me because the specter of death was involved; thankfully (hopefully, with Lucas’ continued recovery) it will be a testament to living love.

A tomb built in tribute to a great love, kinda what Jubal was doing as he didn’t know whether his love would survive. 💝
