I’m sorry that you experienced so much loss in such a short amount of time between your father and Josh. Guilt is a very cruel mistress, she distorts everything that you see & feel, grief was a cagey partner. Your loving family is a gift I can see you treasure….coming through my own time of grief and loss reminded me of the importance of family as well; if you’re lucky, family is the people you are born to, mine is a family of the heart. Dylan and Dominic did as well as could be expected with Lacy’s wake and funeral; Dominic had a maturity about the situation that was touchingly impressive. Man. We really are our own worst enemy. Jubal’s dance upon the hot coals of kindness Bearpaw’s townspeople showed him was understandable, given his circumstances….the fact he braved out their solicitous entreaties speaks to his personal growth, whether he realizes it, as much as it does his eagerness to see Lucas….it was that same skittishness that made a poor time of his visit with Lucas, who is as astute as he’d ever been regarding everything Jubal. Lucas is on the mend, yet not fully well to do all he wants, it is that frustration coupled with his own longing for his friend that made him more short tempered than he’d ever been with Jubal before….Lucas knows to approach Jubal with long rope but it’s all tangled up in his convalescence; Jubal’s vulnerability has him feeling so naked he can’t recognize Lucas’ hurt and short temper comes from a longing as powerful as his own. (I mean for goodness sake, Lucas was so keen for Jubal’s visit, he recognized his footfalls in his sleep!!) I hurt for both these men but mostly for Jubal in this chapter….he can’t see that everything he wants is rightinfrontofhim….Lucas seems like he may finally come clean with his feelings at the earliest opportunity, or tell the man he loves he’s free to go, as I don’t think he’d want Jubal to stay only out of obligation. Reid was caught in an uncomfortable middle between these two haunted, hurt men….how I wish that he could tell Jubal something to let him know he’s okay and welcome in their town exactly as he is but that acceptance can only come with Jubal letting down his well erected but very hard wall of security through fear. What will these two men do? Will Jubal finally let his guard down? Will Lucas verbalize the feelings of his heart or let its newest inhabitant loose? Sebastian makes an excellent general. His level headed, critical thinking, coupled with Cassiel’s assistance, fleshed out Asa’s abduction plan into a reliable, safe means of strategizing against their enemy. Enya is a hoot. I agree, something is definitely up with Russ….his fixation on Brian and Gordon is a lil much for me, the only relief being that B&G have sex with him together & not one on one. Russ needs definite boundaries, else he’ll buy the affection & attention he wants.

Glad that Toby and Noah benefited from Russ’ connections but I’m still quite leery of him….Brian and Gordon are a committed couple who apparently play around here and there; Russ should not be a regular hookup; these assignations should be done after the double penetration.
