HUNTINGTON?!?!?! I wanted a refresher before this book came out but I don’t know if I’m able to reread Kage’s death right now….one of the weird side effects of mourning my Mother’s passing these past 10 months is that death hits me different & hard-even if they are only literary characters I’ve come to love. ❤️💔 Life goes on but that layer of scar tissue isn’t fully formed. 😕

God. I can’t take caring for another perfect mate and having something Kage like happening to him.

Wonder if he ever crossed paths with any Shadow Shifters.

“As he left, he had an odd feeling that he was leaving something behind. He checked his pockets for his keys and wallet, finding both right where they should be.” So Asa’s Caleb’s mate. Caleb, Asa and Vann, with Eclipse and Hank. I’m liking how that happily ever after (after a long, circuitous road) looks. Light Shifter, huh? His story’s going to be in-terest-ing….he’ll be bringing light into Caleb’s life, figuratively and literally.

Why do I feel he’s going to be the one who discovers injured Caleb?
-
For all of Caleb’s deep depression, His interest in Eclipse is encouraging. (Hank, too. Lol) The description of Caleb’s depth of depression was very, very, bleak….and accurate. You have to retrain your brain to think positively, the longer you stay in the dark, the harder you have to work to see the light. Caleb’s depression already threatens the control he has over his wolf, with mutiny an imminent reality….as he is, death is not a frightening prospect (but that CLEARLY is not going to happen) If you pull some Kage shit….🤬

What in the ever living fuck?!?!?!?!?!?!

I can’t believe I missed this!! At least I get two chapters to read. 👏

I hope you’re feeling better @Mancunian. Without knowing where you live, I think it’s that time of year for feeling a touch under the weather….here in the Northeastern part of the United States, we are dealing with Ark like rains right now, lol- as of today, it’s the second wettest September on record….on the one hand, the pollen is clear, (yay!! Lol) on the other, it’s at hot bed for chest congestion of other kinds.

I too, am looking forward to a renewed, reborn sense of self in this decade….this is also my first birthday since my mother died and as much sadness as that brought, there is a freedom to this new phase in my life, if that makes sense. Just through your writing & comments, I’ve always sensed a gentle, genuine & generous spirit about you….tied into and a part of the natural world, I suppose that love of nature comes with the chance of exposure to illnesses like Lyme disease. I surely hope you don’t have it and am wishing you well, Gary, as I always do. 🙏 🍻

Incest is best?!?! 😬 I do think you can marry a cousin….they just have to be far apart enough in blood to prevent birth defects inherent with inbreeding. FDR & Eleanor Roosevelt did it, so did QE2 & Prince Philip.

Even though their relationship is over, I hope Kyan looks at his wife with fresh eyes, recognize alI the ways she mistreated him, forgive her and let it go….Perry does need to truly put his relationship with Dayna in the past as well, (it might be harder for him to forgive, lol) he is honoring her with the love he has for her family, even if that isn’t his intention.

It was verrrryyyy important that Kyan speak that out loud, patterns can only be broken if new boundaries are set.

“I promise to never leave you in the dark, to always respect you and support you. I will put you and the kids first and always try to anticipate your needs. I promise to do everything I can to make you happy.” Perry couldn’t have said any better if they were in front of family and friends about to exchange rings. 💝❤️ “I can’t let the greatest love I’ve ever known walk away because Dayna disapproves. And what is she disapproving of? Someone who cares for me and the children more than anyone else in this world? You are the best thing for us, and if she’s not okay with that, then she can’t claim she ever loved us.” After highlighting the dichotomy of the Daynas they knew, I LOVE that this is the way Kyan told Perry he loves him…. I’ve mentioned it before but Perry gives me such Seamus vibes….Kyan and Matt will never, ever have to worry about infidelity from their men once they know their love is returned. Their first time together was well worth the wait. Kyan is a lucky son of a bitch….yeah the words matter but Perry has shown Kyan every moment of every day of their lives how much he loves him, it’ll be interesting how Perry says it.

“Perry put the truck in park and stared at the house. All the lights were on, which was abnormal for nine-thirty, and Kyan was leaning against the kitchen table, watching Perry through the window with an unreadable expression.” Uhh….no blinds? Shades? Curtains? Guess Kyan doesn’t mind his loved ones ending up in a true crimes podcast. “The soft breathing and the rise and fall of the children’s chests against him were the perfect lullaby.” One of the things I miss from my son’s babyhood was no matter where we were, once my little boy was in my arms, he would always fall asleep if he was tired (sometimes he’d even fight it, lol) but the result was always the same….like my heartbeat was his best white noise machine. If you are a fortunate grownup to have children you love in your life, there is nothing like the sleep of that little one burrowed next to you, proof that you are their safe space….until an arm jams into your face while their foot is pushing you away, lol!! “Gracie huffed and fought like a wrangled alligator to get out of Perry’s arms, as if he was holding her against her will, then stomped off to the kitchen table and angrily crawled onto her chair. That wasn’t enough. No, she looked around for something before swiping Noah’s silverware off the table and sending it clattering onto the floor.” Little bitch, lol. So as one commenter previously noted, Noah is Gracie’s Perry, smh….is she jockeying to take over as oldest? Jed’s talk with Kyan was evident in addressing Gracie’s tantrum and what he said to his children: “No one has the right to treat you badly, not a stranger and not a sibling. That goes for each of you,…” The seed for a kinder, gentler (though still fiery) Gracie is planted, as evidenced by her behavior as Kyan got her ready to go ice skating. 👏 🤞 “Being prioritized had Perry feeling all sorts of tingly. He tried not to grin. “Okay.” This passage broke my heart….has Perry ever felt prioritized in his family? “Ever the athlete, he took the ball and ran, pressing his lips against Kyan’s. The two men kissed like they’d been apart for years, not a week. They tugged and pulled and clawed, stumbling across the kitchen to the living room.” So the city girl in me is wondering-how close are neighbors to Kyan’s place and will they always get “ The Truman Show” (or “Adult Theater”) from the house of Kyan? I’ve quoted a lot from this chapter but there was so much that grabbed me, lol.
