Kyan may hate that Trudy and Jed are maintaining his and the kids’ expenses but it is better than Perry; given his parent in law’s largesse and their sincere motivation behind it, Kyan can be at ease, knowing that there may still come a time when he will need to figure out his own independent income source but it isn’t right now….he can continue being the outstanding father he is (and that he loves being) and finances is no longer a roadblock in the progression of his and Perry’s relationship. Jed and Trudy are priceless….I hope Kyan allows their generosity of spirit (and funds) to heal some of the damage his childhood with his parents gave him….we all need that parental affection, unfortunately sometimes it won’t come from the biological units that produced us; Jed and Trudy can’t do anymore to show Kyan how much they consider him their fourth child, not just a son in law. At least a “more than like” declaration between Kyan and Perry is an upgrade from “friends with benefits”, both are hesitating on saying the “ L word” for their own reasons, even though it’s the fifth child in the family, lol. 😉 “POG juice” ? Is that a type of Hawaiian delicacy or an acronym for kid’s juice? “Flex it.” Kyan stared at Perry. Flex it? He’d never heard of such a thing, but he did as told. Sure enough, his erection slowly deflated. I don’t have a penis but they are one of my favorite body parts & I’ve had the delight of seeing their capabilities personally, which page of the Kama Sutra is that from….or would that be the anti Kama Sutra? Lol. The slow unfolding of Kyan and Perry’s sexual relationship is satisfying reader foreplay…. I feel like I’m going to need a cigarette by the time they are fully intimate, lol.🚬 This was a very satisfying serving on the dichotomy of life….looks like next chapter will finally put the dichotomy (or declaration) of K & P’s love out in the open between them, where it belongs….or will it? I doubt our esteemed author will have all the wrinkles ironed out yet, lol.

Are you talking about the house Michael and Kendall bought? That house sounded like a dream house….I think it was a landmark house in the province? Wonder how they’re doing? 😬

You are right in your assessment, @CincyKris, lol. Gary has been known to follow up on great supporting characters, (hey Mitch 👋); let’s see if the muses move him to find love for Reid in the future….if he doesn’t hook him up in this story because “That Lucas and Reid have history is obvious, but we don't now yet what that is or what that might mean.” 🙄 lol

It didn’t get lost for me but I did skip over it because I talk (well, write, lol) a lot & had to pick and choose what I was going to say, lol. If I wrote everything I observed, I’d probably still be writing, lol.

I too liked hearing the geography of the town and surrounding area; paradise by any other name (Bear Paw or Larkspur) is still sweet.

So….a triangle between Lucas, Jubal and Reid? Reid has a very proprietary air toward Lucas….as good a man as he seems & quite proficient at his job, he wasn’t only using the observational “scrutiny” of a lawman throughout his interaction with these two….seems his gaydar is way more powerful than Jubal’s; reckon he never expected any competition for Lucas’ affections; he knows him well & it was no small thing to find out Jubal was staying on at Lucas’. Jubal may think he has no chance at longevity in this god fearing town but his eyes may soon be open to more possibilities than he was aware of.…his luck is holding out after all-he survived attempted murder in the theft of his belongings, to then be able to spare the life of another victim of the Prescott family. (Guess Ma Barker and her boys weren’t the first family to enterprise the outlaw business of theft and murder) Lucas took a chance on a stranger who proceeds to save his life mere hours after they met….seems fated, somehow. Will Reid’s boots ever be under Lucas’ bed again? Will the lovesick lawman warn Jubal off? When will murderous Ronnie Prescott show himself again? Find out next week when we check out “Bearpaw: An Old West Tale” 🐾 🍻

You are right that our individualized attitudes about finances and the potential power imbalance it poses in a relationship is an internal issue, one that sometimes cannot be overcome, no matter how much love is involved. My hope is that Kyan and Perry can overcome it. 🤞

Welcome to GA. Your English is very good, as you so very eloquently detailed the problems between Kyan and Perry, as well as the possible solutions. I hope you enjoy your time on this site & I applaud your taste- your favorite story of our author’s is still mine as well; it’s an embarrassment of riches though, as she weaves memorable characters and connections in each one. 🎁

I agree, youth notwithstanding, I think she was a bitch. I wonder what kind of mother she was, Kyan was the house husband but was she as selfish a mother as she was a girlfriend or wife? ”Kyan left everyone he knew in Ohio, and Dayna never encouraged him to meet new people in Molalla.” Insecurity can be an ugly, destructive thing and I suspect Dayna had a lot.

My heart hurts for Kyan treading the balance between taking advantage of his in-laws & letting them be the grandparents they want to be….fuck the Shecklers for their conditional relationship with their son. Of all the roadblocks I anticipated in Perry and Kyan’s path to coupledom, I didn’t think very hard about money but there it is….It’s an external issue as opposed to an internal one so I hope they can get past it but it is going to be a challenging one 🤞; Kyan is very proud and already feels like a financial burden on the Steeles, particularly Perry.

It’s good to see that Jed and Trudy also know about Perry’s feelings for Kyan and that they support a relationship between them. “Life is full of those kinds of dichotomies. Dayna’s happiness with Kyan meant you suffered a broken heart. You finally being with Kyan means Dayna is dead. Either way, being happy for one kid means being distraught for the other.” Mr. and Mrs. Steele seem to have a good assessment of who their children were/are….they knew that their youngest, assertive, impulsive child got herself into a challenging situation at a young age (and really they were great in dealing with that in and of itself-how many parents would take in the boy who got their teenage daughter pregnant?). Like most willful people, there lay a large feeling of insecurity in Dayna….who knows why she would have it, being a member of this seemingly warm, supportive family but she did….maybe there was an already existing sibling rivalry between she and Perry that was only exacerbated when she saw the closeness that developed between her husband and brother. Like most willful people, she knew herself and her aptitude for selfishness, she probably feared that deep down she didn’t deserve a kind man (well, boy at that time) like Kyan and that her better tempered, good natured brother did. Honestly, I feel Kyan dodged a bullet in becoming a widower-given his background, he would have worked to keep his family together at all costs & I feel the cost would have been high because I think his marriage to Dayna would have been more challenging than most (I personally think Dayna was a bitch 🤷♀️)….could Dayna have kept on making babies to keep Kyan? 🤔 All this time, the speculation was on Kyan’s uncertainty in having a same sex relationship when it is Perry who’s the Nervous Nellie….on the cusp of getting his heart’s deepest desire, he’s afraid to truly believe that it’s been as easy as it is between he and the love of his life; his hesitation is understandable, he wouldn’t survive this most important relationship not working out….I pray he’s able to withstand the bumps they’ll encounter & see them for the relationship adjustments they are and not that “Kyan would wake up and tell Perry ‘thanks but no thanks’.”

I read your chapter summaries as well as the story synopsis….this seems like a love story to me, albeit one with a very specific dynamic; whatever Zachary’s other motives, genuine affection for Andrew seems included & Andrew, whether due to his own challenges (the bed wetting & subsequent esteem issues associated with that) bares some blame in some of the confrontations he encounters. I will go back and read the previous chapters for further background but Zach doesn’t seem like the enemy nor Andrew an angel. Very intriguing story.

I was trying to give you an out but okay, lol. 😉 🤷♀️ I get that storytellers just follow the plot where it takes them, if that where the story goes, it’s where the story goes. Given the year I’ve had, I can tell you I appreciate that none of your main character's journeys have lead you down that road, (🤞) my emotional wound has yet to totally scab over….I also know if it did, I’d have to put my big girl panties on and deal with it.

Didn’t Dayna die? 🤔

I think Dayna was a virgin, an aggressive virgin, lol. She may or may not have known something was off with her & Kyan’s sex life but she for damn sure knew her brother was jonesing for her husband. Wonder what Trudy and Jed know/knew and how they feel about it.

Love your comment. I also thought of Reid as a potential for Max. I’m sorry he may get hurt and really hope Max is understanding about Kyan & Perry, Kyan needs a good, non-family friend. 🤞
