    Chapter 1

    I suppose you'd like a couple of 🦄 s too
  3. Those things give me an anxiety attack. Seriously.... there is no reason whatsoever that for a normal exam anyone should have to remove anything above the waist. There's nothing that can't be pushed or pulled out of the way for the 30 seconds it takes the doctor to look/feel. Any bottom bits can be covered with a decent drape cloth. I break out in a cold sweat whenever I see those gowns, cloth or paper. Paper is definitely worse.
  4. My brother texted me yesterday that Florida could take its weather back. I told him I was reconsidering my stance on never wanting to deal with ice and snow again. How bad could it be? This week it's been hot enough to melt your soul. We hit a "feels like" of 113 on Wednesday. It's brutal.

    Chapter 1

Secret Author needs a shot of sunshine. Unfortunately, there are too many kids like Joel, thrown out by parents who don't deserve that title. Hopefully, Joel finds happiness. This is a story that deserves a few more chapters. I agree with @Bill W, inquiring minds want to know.
  6. Three down. Eight to go.
  7. My little dog, Camden, doesn't hear as well as he used to. Sometimes I have to call him a few times before he even twitches. But if I open anything that crinkles, snaps or pops... he's scrambling up on all four paws and at my feet in a heartbeat. Lol. Have a good everyone!

    Chapter 1

Wow. This one hits right in the heart. I agree with @Mancunian, it is a hard, disturbing, true to life and an emotional read. I even agree with @Mrsgnomie that love isn't always enough. It must be incredibly difficult to make the decision to cut someone you love out of your life, or even to take them back. Kudos Secret Author. This is another story whose style I feel I've read before. I suck at remembering names and I've read so many stories on this site I can only match up a few authors to their stories. Can't wait for the reveal.

    Chapter 1

Jan 4 I’ve got a secret. I realize now that those four words whispered so long ago started my downfall. My therapist, Simon, suggested I start a journal. To bare my soul, as he succinctly put it. He seemed surprised when I said I had no idea what I would write. You see, I’m an author by trade. I make my living weaving words into stories that somehow turn into bestsellers. I feel like a fraud. I started writing to escape into worlds I could control. Later, it helped me deal

    Baring My Soul

What happens when a secret threatens to destroy everything you hold dear? How do you hang onto your sanity when your world collapses? These are questions Maverick finds himself searching answers for. Will he find any?

    Chapter 1

I also got some Sixth Sense vibes. A really well written story, but sad. A life lost so young. I feel like I recognize the writing style so I'm pretty sure I've read other works by this author. I just can't place who it is. I know I'll be smacking my head at the reveal going "duh".

    Chapter 1

Excellent story. Even if dementia has never touched your life, you have given the readers a poignant look at its reality. For those of us who have live with/loved/or lost someone to that cruel taskmaster who steals memories, you've reminded us that our loved one will always be with us in our hearts. Thank you.
  13. So when are you going to start posting them or is that a secret too? I'm running low on stuff to read!
  14. This is one of the reasons why I'm leery of going. The other main reason is because once you start manipulating your vertebrae, it's an ongoing thing. It always needs adjusting and the chiropractor will never turn away business. There are situations like such as slipped disc's that call for medical intervention and there are other things people can do to keep their spines in better shape. My husband has a back stretcher that helps him tremendously. (Just search Amazon for lower back stretcher... it's black and blue adjustable curved plastic). He also uses a yoga ball to stretch out.
  15. I had that for my knee a few years ago and it didn't do anything. The only that seemed to really help were Hyaluronic acid injections which of course insurance doesn't cover anymore and are stupidly expensive. So hopefully a cortisone shot will do the trick. Aging just plain sucks! The knees have definitely affected everything else. At least that's the story I'm sticking to. Ow! My left pinky hurts! It's my knee's fault! 😆 I've never been to a chiropractor and am honestly freaked out at the thought of someone manipulating my vertebrae.
  16. I find myself ruminating over the process of aging. It seems like every time I approach a milestone age some body part decides either to start breaking down or that it needs higher maintenance. At 40 I realized I my sense of smell was gradually decreasing. I swear I woke up on my 45th birthday and instantly needed cheaters to read anything. 50 made my knees my nemesis and now that 55 is a locomotive barreling down the track that I'm tied down to my hip has decided to join the assembly line of torturous body parts. I can only chuckle, pop some ibuprofen and make an appointment with the orthopedic doctor. Time marches on and we just have to go with the flow and be thankful for the parts that still work and don't give us problems. I hope everyone has a good day!
  17. So far today has been peaceful. I'm hoping it will remain so. Today is my younger son's 21st birthday. I have mixed feelings about it. While I'm happy for him, I'm also a bit leery. Considering everything we've gone through with him lately, having him reach the milestone of legal drinking age is worrisome. However, I can't control his actions nor take accountability for his decisions so I've come to terms with it. We're taking him out to dinner in a bit when my husband gets home from work. I'm hoping it will be a nice evening. We never know with him. So tonight my happy place is going to be a a table with a good pizza and a beer or two!
  18. I'm not a big fan of traditional pie crust. I do love Graham cracker crust though. I'll have to try the oat crust one of these days. I haven't been doing too much cooking/baking lately.
  19. Lemon-- yellow Yellow-- mellow Honestly, most anything lemon-y is pretty damn tasty. My personal favorite is Lemon merangue pie. I've never tried making it but it's a once in blue moon treat I'll buy for a special occasion.

    Chapter 11

As the above hooligans said...Whiskey is preferred, but really any alcoholic libation is ok as long as it doesn't have coconut in it.

    Chapter 11

    (No comments from you @weinerdog)
  22. Thanks for this molly. My morning started out horribly but I've learned that certain things are totally beyond my control and I've come to terms with being okay with it. Sometimes a few deep breaths are the best things ever. My day is what I make of it and I'm determined not to let anyone else pull me down with them On a happy note, my best friend's daughter got engaged yesterday. I'm so excited for them. I hope everyone has a good week!
  23. I personally have to join the butter bandwagon because butter is better on biscuits, bagels, and bread. After all it's why we have butterscotch not coconutscotch, buttercream frosting not coconutcream frosting... and we can't forget Butterfingers, can you imagine Coconutfingers (shudders).🤣(yeah, I know coconut oil is healthier, but I rarely make cookies so I'll use butter and consider it treat. Coconut 🤢) Have a great day everyone and enjoy whatever flavor you prefer!
