  1. 🥵🥵 Its current 93F with a heat index of 107F. I have the AC set at 74 and its 80 inside. Can't wait until the sun goes down. Hopefully by bedtime it'll be back down to 74. @Brayon and @spyke stay cool and hydrated.... they say tomorrow will be just as bad. @Mikiesboy could you please beg your husband to wave that cookie sheet? We're wilting.
  2. The tropical crap is north of me. I haven't seen rain since Wednesday but later this week we've got higher chances of afternoon thunderstorms. That's typical for this time of year. Stay cool. Maybe the mischievous pups will be too hot to get into trouble. If not then you might want to call the dog whisperer Cesar Milan.
  3. Not gonna lie.... I'm jealous. Right now its 90F with a feels like of 104 🥵

  13. Ive used this recipe for cucumber salad and it's fantastic. Asian Cucumber Salad 🥒🍜 2 large cucumbers, thinly sliced 1 tablespoon soy sauce 1 tablespoon rice vinegar 1 teaspoon sesame oil 1 teaspoon sugar (or honey/maple syrup) 1 clove garlic, minced 1 teaspoon grated ginger 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat) 1 tablespoon sesame seeds 1 green onion, sliced Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional) I add feta cheese in there too. Directions: Prep the Cucumbers: Thinly slice the cucumbers using a mandoline or knife. Place them in a bowl and set aside. Make the Dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes if using. Combine: Pour the dressing over the cucumber slices and toss gently to coat. Garnish: Sprinkle with sesame seeds, green onions, and fresh cilantro for garnish. Chill and Serve: Let the salad sit for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve cold. Tonight's dinner is going to be sesame ginger salmon in the air fryer, sweet potatoes, and roasted Brussel sprouts. I also made a batch of enchiladas for the week. Have a good day everyone!

    Epilogue

You're spot on with your observations. The last concert I went to (about 6 or 7 years ago) the atmosphere in the arena right before the band came onstage was so charged with positive excitement it was tangible. The entire night felt electric. Honestly one of the best concerts I've been too. I've also developed a severe distaste of violent shows or movies. Give me a cheesy asteroid-hurtling-toward-Earth-and-only-the-ostrasized-shunned-reclusive-scientist-can-save-the-day movie anytime lol. It's easy for an empathetic person to pick up the vibe of those around them. How many times have you found yourself in a good mood when your coworkers are happy and how often do you get cranky when those around you are bitchy? I think it's part of human nature. You brought up some good points.
  17. This story is an intriguing tale that makes you ask a lot of "what ifs". It makes you question everything you think you know about humanity as we know it and how we can imagine it to be. Don't think. Just read. You'll be glad you did.

You make a great point. But...... (you knew there would be a but) What if people really knew what others felt? I know that your hypothetical worm promotes empathy and joy, but what if .... stay with me here, ... what if those who are not infected, or even some who have a natural immunity (because every end-of-days movie that deals with biological doomsday has that select few who are not susceptible) are within close enough proximity to the infected that their emotions start, well, emoting. Humans are complex in every way possible. Even the most empathetic person can have a bad day. What about people like me, (who, by the way, would be screwed if others picked up my emotions) could feel the negative emotions as well. Also, does the worm's effects only work on emotions and feelings? What I mean is, the worm makes people want to be positive, but if someone who hates bell peppers feels disgust at the mere sight of them, do others feel that too? There is no scenario possible, no worm, virus or bacteria that could ever make me feel like I could choke one of those vile things down. Does a non-dog person (if they even exist) suddenly feel all warm and fuzzy toward Fido? Just some food for thought that is rolling around my insomnia infected brain.
  20. Hi Rick! It's good to see you!

Story ideas can come from out of the blue at any time. Whether or not they take hold is the big question. I'm glad this one invaded your head.

You absolutely NAILED it. It was worth waiting the extra day for you to polish it up. You wanted to portray emotion? You did that perfectly. You wanted to describe the indescribable? Not many authors can do that, but you grabbed that keyboard and ran with it. Without a shadow of a doubt you brought feelings to this chapter with perfection. Congratulations. It's the best chapter and also one of the best I've ever read. Now.... about that epilogue. Tomorrow, right? 😉
