This struck me the most out of everything in this chapter:
That told us all that in Dad’s mind, Jake was just as important, and possibly more important to him than Robbie had been.
Robbie had been such an essential part of Brad's life for so long, he became the measuring stick for every subsequent relationship Brad will ever have once he was gone.
Jake blew it, but Brad crashed and burned too. Typical.
Another great chapter!
I'm not a fan of moving. It feels like I've done it a million times in my life, although it's probably closer to a couple dozen.
Packing sucks. It sucks even more when you realize no one reads actual newspapers anymore! At least no one I know!
I'll have to hit up some of my residents and see if anyone still gets the paper. Otherwise it's off to the dollar store for some rolls of cheap wrapping paper. Luckily I've downsized a lot of 'collectibles' over the years and don't have a lot.
At least it's a local move and I can take a carload up everyday.
No newspaper... 21st century conundrum! 😆
I love choosing character names and I hate choosing character names. Stresses me out more than anything else.
(Kyle has a sister, not brother. She'll come up later)
That splinter accident actually happened to one of my brothers. He still has the scar.
My Christmases growing up were always somewhat chaotic... but a lot of fun.
I was always neutral when it came to guns. My son took me to the shooting range once and it was fun. The target was happy... I didn't hit it very much..lol. but I don't see myself ever owning one.
Jett, being in law enforcement recognized the need for Kyle to be able to protect himself.
