  1. Ummm that is what I was saying... as for the yanking my chain, I'd comment further. However I just can't.
  2. I concur! However, I am still worried our intrepid author will do something devious to him. All of CJ's stories have shown us that the couple perseveres. This leaves Eric in a precarious situation, as his attitude towards a relationship has been demonstrated. While it isn't something he would rebuff if he happened upon it, it isn't something he is looking for. I'd like to agree Jan, but it was an ambiguous statement that could really go anyway. Plus all the good ones are straight ( or fictional ) in this case, Eric is both Steve
  3. technically no it wasn't about Eric it was just a demonstration of care about the character, and ya know a thinly veiled threat of sorts...
  4. Man did this thread go way off topic or what? not that it had a concrete one to begin with.
  5. honestly If I were a betting man that is where I would have placed my money. 1) for the chapter of IFTB where he left off. 2) the length of time it has been. and 3) The size of his fanbase. Honestly ... who knew?
  6. Aww c'mon Sacha, granted it is likely all of GA membership did not cast a ballot in the members choice awards. However, those who did qualify a representative sample. Given that sample it is safe to reasonably say the majority of GA membership disagrees with HRH's misdirection. Seriously, he not only trumped me in that category, but also DomLuka and DanKirk. I could see if had only been between he and I, how the results could be skewed by name recognition. The addition of those two however, quashes any claim to that as they are clearly well known. Furthermore, you don't need a landslide to retain the majority - American Politics proves that time and again - all you need is one more then you closest competitor. That 1 vote therefore gives you the majority. As CJ won the King of Cliffhangers title (deservedly I must admit) he clearly has the majority behind him. That of course doesn't mean they are not pushing him in a direction where he would rather not go, it is still the majority. The award withstanding, do I need to point out the poll in his forum where 41 out of 45 votes feel he does use cliffhangers? two pools with the same end result, no matter how many names are thrown in the mix? That sounds like a pretty obvious trend to me. Steve
  7. Cj is more devious then that...
  8. Are you still on about that honestly? I'd ask what it would take to let it go, yet I already know the answer. In the mean time HUSH!!!! and give us another chapter! Steve
  9. Silly Goat, A King can't start a revolution...
  10. Sadly i agree. I'd like to see better for Vlad, but i find it doubtful. He is an interesting character, and probably the most complex thus far. He is at once so smart he is dangerous juxtaposed with a childlike wonder that I find infectous when I read his bits.
  11. LOL way ahead of you Gary , perhaps next year HRH will learn the best hands in an election are clean ones
  12. To be absolutely fair there was "Behind the scenes" stuff going on. Way back to the debut of the "King of Cliffhangers" moniker. When the title was originally awarded, it was done so by a Committee consisting of... A forum moderator. Writer support team member. Anthology Coordinator Forum Admin Hosted Author (I think there were more ) Anyhow, due to this exclusivity and "behind the scenes" stuff; it was argued that the title should be put to the membership for their vote. i think CJ should revel in the results. I know he is elated with the results. In fact he had told me in a PM that he really wanted the title. I made no mention of his wishes earlier, I thought it may skew the voting, and I wanted a fair, merit based, race. Of course his ceaseless claims that some other author was in fact the king of cliffhangers may have worked against him. It could even be a case of simple name recognition, however, I still believe it to be merit based, he has so far been forgiving in the CH dept on LtMP, FtL however, whew... Oh and as for dirty campaigning... Need I remind Sacha who created the following thread? Link Surely you are not claiming such tactics by HRH are legitimate? And you all have forgotten the biggest ongoing cliffhanger in LtMP thus far... He keeps threatening ERIC!!! Therefore I must declair every chapter from here on to the Eric's safety in the conclusion a cliffhanger. Steve
  13. i didn't find the comment odd... I did enjoy seeing it though
  14. Depends on the "establishment" Less scrupulous entities could care who rents the room. They don't want to know what its being rented for and by whom. the only thing they care about is the money, as witnessed by their willingness to help him out.
  15. CJ! you usurping goat you! Allow me to prostrate myself at your hooves. (as soon as I can figure out which set ) Seriously Congratulations CJ! Cat 5 was a great Story with nary a villainous fiend in sight. (cept for the hurricane) I can still call you HRH right?
  16. it was just a little bike accident... Soft soil and all. Besides Carlos and the kindly rancher were close by. It's not like I had him racing along a perilous mountain road, or ya know miss a curve and go sailing off the ledge.
  17. Perhaps it's like beating a dead horse goat. They have heard you claim that so many times they no longer believe it. Sorta like peter and the wolf except, CJ and the cliff. it's 41 - 4 now... (It wasn't me...)
  18. He wasn't on the side of the road fading in and out of consciousness! the paramedics had arrived
  19. Acctually low level admins can alter the vote by editing the post. that said, the number of suspects for altering the vote is extremely limited. Seeing as I doubt Cj's would alter results in a direction oppisite his leaning, I doubt this poll has been altered in any way.
  20. That mentality has worked glowingly so far... You missed a point in my previous post. prisons DO NOT rehabilitate. They are simply a short to long term storage option. An out-of-sight-out-of-mind place to hide people society deems as inappropriate. I've seen the inside of the California youth authority. Do you know how they teach class there? They place the kids in cages. Cages! How does treating a person like an animal even attempt at rehabilitation? It doesn't it sends a clear message. throwing this kid into the system for the next 30 years to life is not an answer. If we continue to think this is a viable course of action we will continue to face the same problem. America has a pedigree for dealing harshly with youthful offenders. In fact the first recorded hanging in America occurred in Massachusetts. Unfortunately it was not for a murder or theft. A teenage farm boy was executed for taking certain liberties with the livestock. And to answer your question, YES education and rehabilitation in an area that is free of cages and people wearing militaristic garb. If he thought giving into rage was an acceptable course of action certainly his education is off somewhere. In the same instance maybe prison is the best place for him, if he has demonstrated a clear history of violence. However a blanket condemnation with out regard to circumstances is both misguided and uninformed. A terrible example of mob rule.
  21. I agree with you Kevin. I think people should be copable for their actions. That said, there has been numerous ocasions across these forums where it has been pointed out that people mature at different rates. Comparing yourself at fourteen to anyone else at fourteen is unreasonable. I am not condoning what the kid did. All i am saying is we need to look at what caused him to think that course of action was acceptable. That is where the problem is, and can be solved. Stricter gun control will not solve the problem. If someone wants to lash out violently, they will, even if it is with the nearest blunt object. The answer also isn't in taking these kids, and throwing them away. We shouldn't call for their execution. We shouldn't deem them fit to stand trial as an adult when we don't think they are mature enough to drive a vehicle or choose the laws that effect them. We shouldn't relegate them into a system of broken prisons that will only take what ever evil is inside of them and amplify it. Prisons do not rehabilitate, not in their current state, they take a individual who may have been misguided and turn them into monsters. It is proven with reoffender rates. the shooter in Oxnard turned 14 two weeks ago. He has been charged as an adult. Something is wrong with that, we should be educating kids, not sending them to prison. It's people who express some of the same opinions that have expressed here, that think there is nothing worth saving in these kids. That may be true. The failure to try is the real devil in society. That willingness to just get cover up the stain rather then deal with. It's Horrendous and spits in the face of our better angels.
  22. To you perhaps, but a 14 year old who is more controlled by hormones and emotion than rational thought? As far as society being better off without them, that argument is way too wide to be acceptable. There are allot of things society is better off without. Some could even argue you and I.
