  1. Wow... there is a lot of Helen Bashing going on. you guys are turning into a bunch of haters I'm going to disagree She kind of controls the group maybe a little more than a manager would normally due. -- Controlling a group is a managers job. I have seen no actions on Helen's part to indicate she is stepping out of her purview, other then some motherly feelings that bubble to the surface now and again. She knew to go to Jerry when she needed some evidence that would direct the police to Gabe and maybe leave herself and him out of the police investigation. -- Did she go to jerry, or did Jerry come forward with the information? I seem to remember him showing up and volunteering the information provided that Instinct keep his company, and provide help with Joe in the Future She really has been the only one pushing for the guys to like Jerry. -- Her Soft spot for the man is born of his lies and deceit. If she knew the real jerry I doubt she would push for the guys to give him a break. She controls the guys money, I think they said once before that they really don't know where there money is, but Helen assured them that it is stored away in case their careers come to an end. -- Once again typical of managers, How do you think MC hammer ended up broke all of the sudden? The entertainment industry is rife with stories of less then savory managers embezzling money. Yet what person high on Fame wants to be hassled with the monotony of paying bills? She helped convince the guys to get rid of Joe, and at the same time brings Jerry on the scene. -- She most certainly did not! She agreed with the Carlise brothers decision to be rid of Joe now that they had a suitable replacement, and noted Brandon would have more stage presence the Joe Clump. Let's not forget the position Joe Left Instinct in in the first place with a string of No-Shows. Joe Forced that situation on Himself it was not Helen. Geeze guys, stop hating the woman. I have seen nothing yet to give me any reason to hate, or even suspect her.
  2. well there was that one span of several hours where you put a cliff in eash of your 5881 posts at the time Okay... I made you do it, you still did it though ACK!!! two weeks!
  3. It's Monday, which means math class. Normally not something to be grateful for, but ... yeah the scenery makes it better.
  4. ohhh that sounds interesting Kevin. I'm looking forward to reading it now (see, this is why you don't say you are working on something that may never see the light of day ) As for me, I find inspiration in allot of different songs. Sometimes it may just be for one scene, other times one song could inspire a whole story. The latter was the case for Destiny of Time, but I haven't posted that here yet.
  5. Maybe it is the season, maybe it is something else, but there seems to be a lot of talk about love these days. Whether the topic be about friends with bennies, or taking a significant other for life, the underlying emotion is love; to me at any rate. It's such an innocuous word, love. All to often thrown around at a whim, or a panging of the soul, but what does it mean? Sure we all have our own definition of the word, our own belief, or idea. Often, however, it isn't a idea that translates in conversation. Maybe bits and pieces fit some generalized vague definition, but can we ever say yes that is love? To add proof to the concept of love being vague, is our endless need to add adjectives preceding the word such as Romantic... Platonic.. Unconditional... I'm sorry but shouldn't all love be unconditional? What does it say about you, or me, as a person if we give our love freely, but with strings attached? Perhaps that is the lesson we all must learn in the grandiose scheme of things, to give our love freely, with out exception, or expectation of love in return. Imagine the world in which there was love but none of the usual hangups associated with the word. Then again, my understanding of the word may be fundamentally flawed. There may be more to love, then just caring about the well-being of another person. Perhaps the gift of love requires return in kind. Such a thought saddens me, even if I see it a constant reality. Perhaps, it is time we stopped asking "How could you?" and started saying "Good for you!". Perhaps, it is time for us to see that love is nothing more then wanting to make another person happy, and doing whatever is in out purview to sustain that happiness. Perhaps, it is time to take ourselves out of the equation and just concentrate on everyone else. Imagine if that was our reality. Would religion look the same? Would the world look the same? Probably not, it would probably be an alien and frightening world to each and everyone of us. Maybe so, but we would never have to wonder if someone loved us again. We would already know.
  6. confessions under duress only make us the monster. Case study/s Spanish inquisition Salem Witch Hunt etc... honestly, The goat will always claim to never use a cliffhanger. We know different. would you deny a child his imaginary friend? especially if no harm is caused? I say leave the goat to his delusions. Its only when the hysteria spreads is there cause for concern. Steve
  7. Tiger... many have tired, ALL have failed. It's just a fluke of the goat, perhaps because he is a Mountain goat prone to living on cliffs he just fails to recognize them in his own backyard
  8. Thanks guys, the pleasure has been all mine, for the most part. But I do have to say the greatest gift came from our own King of Cliffhangers CJ He put a cliff in each and everyone of his posts, all 5000+ of them. Nothing like marking an occasion with a sincere and heartfelt public admission of ones Cliffhanging prowess So CONGRATS CJ!!!!!
  9. Snowdog was in town for an interview, by in-town I mean in the general Southern California area. It was neat, hadn't seen him since San Francisco. Quick version of events. Stowed my backpack in the trunk with recyclables. Chatted with Snow and Viv while driving out to Anaheim. Hung out at Viv's house for a few hours. She apparently cleaned for our arrival. Her son commented that it was odd that the place was clean , after he tried to con me into feeding the dog. What's with kids these days? From there we wandered down to the block while waiting for Rich to get off. Viv said something about skater boys... they were all twelve, if you didn't count the ones standing in a clump smoking cigarettes, I doubt they were old enough to purchase the cigarettes though. She mentioned Step up 2, or some other grossly marketed failure of the Hollywood studio system. One word -- Vetoed, with prejudice even. Rich called shortly after Viv procured her Jamba Juice, so we left to pick him up. From there we did the mini-golf thing. I stink at mini-golf, or anything that has to do with balls really. (I'll leave a therapist try to figure that one out). Nevertheless it was a good time, i even managed to get a hole in one... twice. Low point, gnats... thousands of them wafting in the early evening breeze, looking like those patio misters at restaurants in palm springs. So it was an interesting mix of swing, duck, and run to an area that wasn't over run with the little buggers. Not to mention a good laugh was out of the question, extra protein need not apply if you catch my drift. Anyhow, I even managed not to come in fourth place, that was all Viv by about 4 strokes... Now she is going to say its the stroke she enjoys. Dinner was Ancho's again, a good place, and they do have killer tortillas. Atmosphere is a tad bland, doesn't mean I didnt enjoy the view This is where the 95 shades of red comes in; Yeah, I sorta zoned out into my own little world for a second. So the world happened to be centered around the hind quarters that belonged to the next tables waiter. next thing I know a Viv's hand is slapping down on the table, and she is all "So Caught" to make matters worse, Snow and Rich were both staring at me a smiling that 'we know what you were looking at' smile. Yeah, caught scoping out the waiter... If you were there you would have been checking him out too. Honestly though, there were two, The one waiter, and one of the bus boys. If I could have convinced our less appealing waiter to wrap the two of them up in a doggy bag... After Anchos, and my complexion returning to a color of normalcy we decided on hitting the movies and seeing Vantage Point. Um yeah so maybe Step Up 2 would have been better, but Im sure there would have been a row of just as annoying girls crying rape in the seat behind us. and don't even get me started on the train wreck on the screen. Just reference grossly marketed failure statement from above. Bad just... yeah bad, save your money, or really teach them a lesson for releasing this .... stuff and go find a website to download it off of. Man this is getting hideously long... I guess I'll save how my uncle completely forgot the drunken conversation I had with him on New Years Eve, hell he even forgot I was there, for next time
  10. 0 months and 0 days. What a waste of a 1000th post...
  11. you could, however if you have anything like the CJ variety, dont go near it, leave it be in the deep dark wood. thats how it likes it.
  12. or you could click here geesh he makes things difficult
  13. I am going to say yes. he warned that Chapter thirty may be delayed, however he said nothing about the whole story disappearing!!
  14. yup, I'm thinking the php-include is buggy, thats why the index page does not bring up a list of chapters like a good index page should. Beyond that There was some back end reorganizing so all prior links to the chapters should not work now, as it appears they were moved into a sub-folder. Don't worry I'm sure they are trying to figure out whatever happened. ps i told you all he was evil.... and now he gives me evidence
  15. Well its somewhere, along with the rest of the files. CJ did mention there maybe some technical difficulties due to a infrastructure redesign, so hang tight I'm sure the chapter will pop up. That said is it too early to declare a cliffhanger??
  16. totally off topic, but I have to say i just love that line
  17. Look! The reason I don't post in the Chapter Threads Often! I accidentally posted something ahead of schedule on FtL And CJ, That really is a better Title, I must agree with you there
  18. <G> I think I saw him with mine... she's a bit of a boozer and has a thing for Jack. I'll keep you posted
  19. Principle target, subject etc.. In this case principle refers to Brandon. Though I think it would refer to the Instinct as a whole, as the band is Gunters principle when it comes to security. Helen falls under his wing to an extent I am sure, but seeing as she is not a memeber of the band, but she would not be a principle.
  20. Bondwriter hush! We like Eric; maybe not all of his pranks involving wildlife, but we like him. I don't see how he is generally reckless, stubborn and narrow-minded when he has a goal yes. As far as drunkenness... err I'd venture to say its a phase that I hope he will eventually grow out of. Trust me he could be alot worse as a roll model. Nothing he has done so far it done to intentional harm or wound people. His drinking, isn't even to excess as he has yet gotten as carried away as certain other members of bands surrounding him... He is protective of his brothers and their feelings, he also likes to help people when he thinks they need it. Hell the fact that he is reasonably level headed in the face of the latter part of his adolescence is a triumph. Not bad as a roll model as far as I am concerned. In fact I find him an all around decent guy. Sure he is outgoing, and a little wild, but there are things to account for that. Never the first born, and no longer the baby, he has to do something to vie for attention doesn't he? He is after all Eric, no excuses, no expectations.

    Crisis of Faith

I went out with Viv the weekend before last. We enjoyed a sun and rain filled day at Disneyland with Will and Rich. It was a grand time all things considered. Will got a kick out of the "happy" guy in mock lederhosen who was checking seat belts on the Matterhorn. Horrible ride by the way, I swear I bruised my scrotum on its jostling turns. For those of you who don't know, Viv doesn't do down. So that killed allot of the rides at the park across the way. Though we did have an interesting conversation about the impact on machismo by calling a guys unit cute. In my opinion, cute is a death stroke. You just don't do that, there are plenty of other adjectives in the English language. Lets just leave cute out of it okay? Cute is puppies and babies, It's bear cubs and furry baby seals. Calling a guys dick cute is like taking all of those cuddly things and tossing them into a chipper shredder, along with the guys self image. After we went to a Mexican restaurant back over in my neck of the woods. Long way to drive for tortillas, but Viv claims the margaritas rock. There was a young couple there, She was sitting in chair by the window, He was standing, shielding her for view. Sort of, as if he were sub-consciously protecting her from some perceived threat. It wasn't the typical "I have separation issues so let me hang all over you" that you normally see with young couples. There was a aura of shivery involved, as she and his mother sat and he stood. They needn't be pawing over one another or constantly touching. Just the proximity was enough. her comfort was enough. It's when I see that I feel alone, and a longing for it. That usually brings with it a hunger for some societal concocted sense of normality. I know the the thinking is flawed and stupid. I know that I would think less of person who thought the same way, but in moments of self pity and loneliness, I can't help but wonder if i could give it a go, along with a whole host of other things I am too ashamed to give voice to here. I don't like when I start thinking this way. It seems so... defeated, so... uncharacteristic to allow myself to get caught up in the expectations of society. It's not though, we are supposed to bend to the will of those around us. Its barely noticeable, but actions evolve to suit our surroundings. beh I'm rambling and I should be working. I'll catch ya all later. Steve
  23. Acctually, if you go to Cj's main forum and clink on the number of posts on any topic it will pull up who posted in that topic thread and how many times they have posted. Steve, did just that from the For the Love thread. Why they are linkiing to todays top posters.... I dunno
  24. Acckkk! I am not in denial over chapter 26!! Never have been. Is it a cliffhanger? Yeah, I freely admit that when asked. Is it the MOTHER of all cliffhangers? That is highly debatable and really depends on taste.
  25. he has me confused with the goat.
