    Chapter 25

After Christmas, our clan needs to go to Florida and enjoy the open ocean .Just how big is Robbie's boat? We have Lynn's family, Troy's family, which includes Carson and Mrs. P, our boys, Robbie and Marco Polo! I think we need a bigger boat!

    Buying Bread

Oliver is trying very hard not to "manage" his learning of French, instead learning organically. Julien is watching to see if Oliver can accomplish his non-managing. Learning French has become their metaphor, as @Charles26 wrote. Their rift is not about Oliver making a mistake, apologizing, and that apology not being accepted by Julien. Julien is trying to see if Oliver can change the way he thinks and behaves. Oliver realizes this and is trying hard not to automatically think, plan, research, weigh all the alternatives, judge, plan again, etc. Oliver is doing this for himself, necessarily by himself.
  3. So, if I'm reading this correctly, you all think that Julien is using his silence as punishment. And that silence is the sole source of your condemnation? What about all the rest of his silences before Paris? I see his silence as part of his personality. Julien nodded. He drank his tea. He didn’t say anything else about it, and not saying was its own kind of language—a man who noticed everything and commented on almost nothing, who trusted that the noticing itself was sufficient. I really don't think that Julien is being passive aggressive or using silence as punishment. I think he is just being silent.
  4. Wow, I have interpreted Julien and Oliver so very differently than other readers! I really disagree that Julien is being petty and judgemental. He has not misled Oliver on his anger or his feelings. I don't understand why you think he is being controlling, dominant, or restrictive of Oliver expressing himself. Where in the text did that happen? Oliver is making his own choices. He is not becoming less, he is trying to figure out who he is. Is he the same Oliver that managed his marriage to death? Is the anger towards Julien because we didn't get a big, predictable "I forgive you" moment? What story have you been reading for the last 24 chapters, if a quick, happy reunion and resolution was the expectation?

    Hey Sailor

I find it fascinating that in pre-industrial times “children”, were prior to puberty. In post-industrial “children” are below 18, for the most part. With AI, and super tech it is completely understandable that the age of emancipation or end of childhood would shrink again. Evolution is amazing!
  6. I think the healing can start now. And, I’m not talking about the ankle.

    Family matters

Oliver has some touchy and quirky relatives to work around. I think Julien’s Ma and grandma will be a refreshing change, maybe just as quirky but not requiring so much “handling”.

    Hey Sailor

Naren is going to gain some confidence after his successful first mining trip. Even if he just did what he was told and allowed the use of his program, he was instrumental to their success. His visit with his new friend was a welcome bonus.

    Chapter 24

When the guys were boys they were so dependent on each other, to an unhealthy level. In this short reunion, they balanced each other. Troy calmed Miles' nerves. This bodes well for their future.
  10. Thank you for letting us see, feel, and hear the second best day of their lives!
  11. Sounds like Rice-A-Roni, also gross. Add some spices and salt to rice (cheapist, easiest food ever) and some actual real vegetables, and leftover meat (only if desired), and you have real food from scratch for 5 more minutes and two more dollars. Sorry, I get on my high horse when it comes to cheap, easy choices that improve health, taste, animals, or the environment.
  12. I agree with this comment completely. But from Julien's POV. I also hope they work it out. I love that this is a heavily nuanced story!
  13. Julien doesn’t want to managed. Oliver can’t help but to manage. Even if he is doing it out of love, which he is. I think Oliver knew this, deep down. It’s why he couldn’t bring himself to tell Julien what he did. The problem isn’t intent, or not telling, it’s the doing it in the first place. Julien is afraid that Oliver will try to manage his/their lives. He is right.
  14. I only watched 2 episodes. Beth was intriguing, but the only really likeable character for me was Kayce, and he killed 3 people! But, I didn't find that not knowing the characters caused less enjoyment of your story. In fact, most of us not knowing the details of the original makes your version just "fiction", not "fanfiction". I'm all in.
  15. As an American, I consider it vile! Why add processed garbage when it is just as easy to cook from scratch?
  16. You emerged us into an intense situation immediately. Great dialogue and urgency. I really want to read more!

    Blood And Stone

I will be happy with any future chapters! Please take whatever time you need, this is one of my all time favorite series. Free or published. It’s that good. Thank you for your creativity and imagination. For some “on hold” stories, I have to reread a lot of the previous chapters. I can jump right in to yours.
  18. Dropping would be easier. Maybe @Summerabbacat would find me a nice big sinkhole!
  19. Only for the sake of the kids, do I hope Natasha improves her behavior. But it has been my experience that narcissists like her are not truly capable of change, and only put on a show for others until they're off the hook for whatever heinous acts they committed. I suppose if she had some intensive psychotherapy, but again, narcissists rarely accept blame or think they need help. Just look at the giant orange one for an example!

    Chapter 23

Miles' sister did a runner because it was her only option to save her life and sanity at the time. Sound familiar? If Miles can connect with her, and I think he will, I hope she will accept his love, support, and their crappy Uncle's secret lotto money. I can see Troy, Miles, and Marco making a life for themselves wherever they desire. Maybe lots of somewheres, with a base in Miami (winter) and a base at the ranch (summer). Also, it might depend on where Miles' sister has settled, especially if she has a family.

    Chapter 23

Ok, if swamp-ass is an ode to Florida! Which Cincinnati got a taste of today .... in mid-October! I want fall!
  22. I don't trust Natasha as far as I can throw her, which is considerably less than I would prefer! We need to find out who Harlan works for, that is still a wildcard. Christmas in London will be fun, and very enlightening for the kids.

    Crew

I enjoyed the relationship between Naren and Aster. It's intriguing to imagine everyone with their own AI personalities underlying and influencing the outward personality. Plus your AI is talking to all the other AI's. The meeting in the mining ship struck me as calm on the surface, one person speaking at a time. But there were 12 minds communicating, 6 of them simultaneously.
  24. I really liked this opening chapter. I already feel that I know William and Andrew, and I look forward to knowing our diarist.

    Four Years

Xavier's obsession is intense. I have to admit that I usually don't read second person POV stories, I usually hate them. But this one is intriguing so I think ill stick with it. I'm concerned for the health of the other young man.
